Blake: Spooky Edition

OoooOoooOooo haha! Hey there, didn’t mean to scare you! I want to do something more in the “spirit” of the season, specifically good old-fashioned ghost-hunting! And no, this isn’t a simple costume, this get-up is gonna help me blend in. I’ve heard rumors of some legendary supernatural beings and I figure the best way to coax them out is to convince them they’re among friends, right? That’s probably why all those ghost hunter TV shows never seem to make contact, they’re not thinking like poltergeists. Anyway, I’m sure I’ve got everything I need: An EVP recorder, this little electro-magnetic field doohickey, some motion-activated cameras, this excellent handmade camouflage, and most importantly a spooky locale.

I even brought along a spirit board, thought maybe we could communicate directly and see if any of these specters have anything useful to say. Apparently, you just put it down like this, put your fingers lightly on the planchette and... ooh it’s moving! “N...I..CE...S...H...EE..T....I..D..I..OT” Huh. Well... Y’know what, how ‘bout you come find me, and we’ll get some practice time in. Then we’ll wipe the undead smirks offa those sassy specters’ faces.

I know I'm taking the bait by responding but a curt, "it'll start when it starts," would be considered aggressive, dramatic and frankly, quite rude in any circumstance. We're just asking as to when and that response wasn't satisfactory. As I just suggested to Amber, being honest about not being able to share details at this time and the following explanation as to why not, was a much better response and would've gone down better with everyone, in my opinion. I know this staff is taxed with everything going to hell, but we don't deserve to be snapped at because of that. That said, I'm not mad about it. Was taken aback but I'm over it.

Also, to clarify some muddled sentences my last post: by saying, "you're willing to delay it because of site crashes," I meant "postpone." Also, "If you can't answer that, I think that would be the wiser thing to say from the start rather than just dictating it'll start when it starts" should've been, "giving the explanation you gave now was better than just dictating "it'll start when it starts," and should've been said from the start." Apologies for any confusion, I'm tired as I'm sure we all are. Anyway, this should be my last response for the night. I'll be waiting for the Morostide post to ask my questions again.

Which I understand, but this just makes me ask the question again: why not extend the holiday by however long it's going to be delayed? It's quite the surprise that that hasn't been your response. You won't even humor it as a suggestion. Also, you're willing to delay it because of site crashes, but not delays? Can you see how this logic is confusing. Also, another thing, no one's worked up. We're, at most, a bit miffed that the holiday is late and wanting to know when it'll start. If you can't answer that, I think that would be the wiser thing to say from the start rather than just dictating it'll start when it starts, implying we're just going to have to deal with the crunch that said delay creates. If nothing else, will you please discuss this with your peers? According to the hearts, it's what people seem to want.

I'm fine with Morostide starting whenever. Given everything going on, I imagine some of the artists/writers/etc are dealing with other stuff. I haven't been as active on Suebta lately so I don't mind. Morostide has never had a set date anyway so shrug

I'm repeating the "Morostide will start when it starts", , because we've learned not to give hard dates for when things happen, in case it doesn't work out. That's why we try to stay vague for the start dates for a lot of things, though Morostide does have an end date of Halloween (unless we have to extend for lag or big glitch).

I say something very similar to almost every single holiday multiple times; things will start when it starts and we all just need to just go with the flow. I would love nothing more than to give y'all answers to things, I in general try to be as helpful as I can, but sometimes I (and staff) don't know when a thing will start until maybe a few hours before! I get a lot of users are frustrated when things don't start when they want/hope/expect. It's frustrating on our end for similar reasons; we want to give y'all a great experience but somethings things just don't add up to what we want/hope/expect.

That's why I include all information I can in the starting holiday news post, because it's at that point I [I]can[/i] share information. That's when I have all the details set in stone for y'all. I don't want anyone to walk away from this comment thinking we haven't prepared ahead of time or things are going bad; it's just we are on a skeleton crew. We're in a pandemic. is on maternity leave (hello babies!).

For the record, the 17th is actually the latest Morostide ever started - both in 2019 and 2016, for the record. We never had it start after the 17th - before 2015, it started on the 15th.

Morostide will start when it starts. You all will find out details in the opening message. If you have concerns then, I encourage you to bring it up. But right now y'all are just working yourselves into a panic over what could be nothing. I promise we've considered the timing. We've done Morostide this late before, we've done it earlier.

Will Morostide's start be announced before it actually begins? I think a lot of people expected it to begin today, so I'm hoping there's a heads up before it starts to not panic over missing something.

Maybe Morostide begins a little bit later. The staff knows most of de time a solution to compare some things who are different as usual. I hope so. There could be a technical reason or so or they spent more enegy to give morostide more qualety. I'll just wait off.

Maybe you just missed my point: the weeks leading up to Halloween are just as busy as Christmas for a lot of people. They don't have a lot/any time for the event on top of everything they're doing, especially during the last 48hrs, which is usually when they make it go faster. Now there's a possibility of their virtual TOTing time being cut down, which will add to everyone's workload and stress, not to mention it's unfairly punishing the player base for what will be a staff inflicted issue. If the event is late, fine, no one minds that, but be fair to the players and extend the time we have so that we don't miss out and stress out. Please.

Wow this Blake is so easy even my weakest pets who never battle could beat him in 1 hit each. And I agree with Jasper, starting Morostide with less than 2 weeks to get all the TOT and patch items is kind of annoying and I would consider that starting late.

Fireside doesn't start til mid-November and while I'm not doing my outdoor set up this year, due to covid, it was the reason why I always missed most of Morostide.
