What a fun mix of revamps to start off the new year!
Note: Only the overlay for the Woodcutters Wolf Tooth has been updated.

now it looks like this
if you can exaggerate then so can I

I'm curious as to the rationale behind leaving the avatar cutouts in the tails, especially with the whiteout items (eurgh) and the plans to make it possible for people to turn off various body parts in order to use body mods. I would think that all revamped items would have the avatar cutout removed.
Despite some of the confused responses to this post, nobody actually needs skintight avatar cutouts that don't work anyway. Most avatars are not naked, so items with cutouts still need to be layered behind your avatar if your avatar is wearing anything on their legs other than skin-tight leggings/tights, because who wants part of a wolf cutting off their cargo pants or worse, their long skirt?
I prefer the realism of the new wolf companions, but I do think that when artists are updating items, it would be nice for them not to make changes to the essential nature of the item, such as the colouration of tattoos, general shape of a garment, or expressions and "personality" of companion items.
As examples: the Vampire Trenchcoat used to actually look like Spike's Badass Longcoat from Buffy and now it looks like a long jacket without the flare (or the flair!) I owned it because I loved that coat. Spike's coat was so much cooler than the vaguely-but-not-very-edgy jacket we were left with. I got rid of mine after the revamp. It was more of an Edward look than a Spike look, and while I like Twilight too, I don't want to dress my avatar like Edward.
I am really unhappy about the changes to the tattoos. The art needed updating, but there wasn't any reason to make the items lighter, and I think it shows a certain amount of disregard for people who prefer to use darker bases. They are now much less visible on darker bases.
Lately there's been a lot more inclusivity on the part of the staff in the area of making sure that items are either usable on dark bases as is, or are transformable for dark base users. This revamp is disappointing in that respect. If you are currently using bases 1-4 and almost never use anything else, the change may seem like NBD, but if you test it out on a darker base, you'll see that it is much less distinct now.
I really LIKE the new wolf items, but I did use the Woodcutter wolf, and as , who also loves wolf items, pointed out, there have been changes to the expression and colouration of the wolf that were not strictly necessary.
I'm super happy that lineart is prettier, the animals look more realistic, and the stupid cutout is gone, meaning that I can use the wolf in front of the avatar, with booties and bodymods, and so forth. But the change to the expression means that if someone (like ) who collects wolf items and uses them often was attached to the old "personality" of the wolf depicted, it's going to be hard to accept.
Wolfism releases a lot of wolf-related CWs and really did use all the wolf items frequently. Wolfism wasn't rude to anyone until a bunch of people started questioning their right to have a negative opinion, and it was out of line to suggest that they rarely used the item since the person who said that clearly doesn't know Wolfism.
People make a lot of unwarranted assumptions about people who get salty about changes they like. Please remember that people are allowed to not like things.
