Quest-A-Thon Start!

We hope you’re ready because our Quest-A-Thon has started! Remember you’ll have until 11:59pm on Sunday June 18th to complete 750,000 quests with your fellow users! If this goal is completed, everyone that has participated will receive 1 new pet slot, the forum title “has some fries to go with that shake”, and 5 bathhouse tokens! Participation means completing at least one quest.

Completing quests with the following quest givers will count towards the goal: Carl, Cinthia, Mori or Nori, Alexander, Maleria, Pete, Quentin, Saggitarius, Sarah, and The Wizard. Regular users can complete 10 quests per quest giver and Gold Account users can complete 15 quests.

so like, I have an idea for this prize situation, even though I've posted in the comments too much already .-. lols but what if, at the start of the quest-a-thon, new items were introduced into the quest shops, that were more expensive than all the other items, like 75 or 100 points or something, giving everyone some incentive to quest (and do maybe all of them) it could easily be a plushie from one quest npc, a book, a rad ass wearable, a beanbag, a food, something battle related, etc, giving just about everyone a reason to do it then those items could be more limited, like a month(?), get moved out of the quest shops, and then come back when the next quest a thon comes along, and with the new quest a thon comes new items with the same idea (as well as keeping the pet slots gurl you know I love me some pets)

just an idea though, I don't know how the staff want to handle it and I'm just trying to be helpful while at the same time super appreciative of the staff as well as the community for coming together for this kind of thing c:

Just a thought but...what if next time, instead of a pet slot, those that participate enough (say minimum of 100 quests or so) get a Loyalty Box instead. Then those of us who want the pet slot can still get it and those that wont use it can get one of the items inside...?

I just wanted to add my two cents to the issue, but like I said I don't feel strongly either way and am perfectly content with how things are currently being done. :)

I mean it’s already been covered that yes, prizes won’t appeal to everyone and that’s why we do a few things (we're going to do some new bathhouse items soon, which is why I chose to do bathhouse tokens again this time around but usually we switch it up on prizes outside of pet slot). Like I posted further down, doing a choice (the or part of your comment) of things isn’t really something we’re going to do for this. When quest-a-thons are done, if the goal is completed, then we run a script to give the prizes to everyone that entered. That makes it easier on us and makes sure that everyone gets their prizes. When we do links to thinks to claim prizes, sometimes users don’t go (they forget, they figure they’ll do it later, etc, etc) which causes a few problems down the line. Quest-a-thons are meant to get users to work together to get prizes (plus a lot of sP from doing quests every day etc), no new art is required from the art department, and very little work from us programmers. OVERALL LOVELY THING THAT WE TRY TO KEEP SIMPLE.

I think the issue people have with pet slots is that if you don't want the pet slot, you can't do anything else with it either. With bath house tokens and the like, if people don't want them, they can sell them and still get some sort of value out of it. So like, I don't need bath house tokens either, but I'm still happy to get them as a prize cuz I know I can sell them to someone who does and get a bit of sP for it that I can use on other things.

So it would be nice to have a choice of pet slot OR some compensation for those who don't want that.

THAT SAID, my personal opinion is that it's not a huge deal. It doesn't hurt anyone to get an extra pet slot, nor does it give anybody an advantage in the game if they actually want their slot as opposed to someone who doesn't... If the pet slot were the only prize, then that would leave out a lot of users. But this quest-a-thon is also giving out a forum title and bath house tokens.

So I kinda see it like: The prize is a forum title and bath house tokens, AND people who want an extra pet slot have a chance to get that too, which is great because they are very expensive and hard to get usually :)

750,000 quests 100 quests a day = 700 quests a week (noGA) 150 quests a day = 1500 quests a week (GA) between the full effort of about 500 (users with GA) to 1072 (users w/o GA).

We’re going to actually do something like the raffle thing again, so I don’t really want to confuse that set up with how the quest-a-thon works. :) And doing a single item for a quest a thon (like a specific one for just going out that way) is also rough because again, it's not going to appeal to everyone (like bathhouse tokens don't or pet slots).

As an idea for prizes in the future, maybe have the usual standard 'everyone gets pet slot/bathhouse tokens/whatever' if we make it, but then you can hold a raffle. Every quest completed enters you in the raffle once (encourage people to do all the quests instead of just a few) and it doesn't flood the system with items, cause you can set a limited amount and have some rare and some common. (Or however you wish to split it.) I believe a raffle was held not too long ago and though I barely got anything worth while, I know some did. And even if I didn't, it was still fun. Excitement and all. And I'll be doing full quest every day anyway, so it'd be nice to have a chance for something extra while doing that. (/is one of those 'meh pet slot, but I'll help!!! For sP and winning!' people)

Or, make an item just for the questathon. Participate and get it, then it's gone. (Or comes back next questathon.) It won't flood the system too much, since, honestly, how many users really participate? 3000? That's not too many.

too late gonna add many ghosts there (and crypt points were just one of the first currencies I could think of that wasn’t referral hahahah) Some people just don’t feel the need to have a billion pets is all! Some are perfectly happy with a few, and that’s perfectly okay.

I'm a little confused by all these people hating on the free pet slots. Maybe I'm a holdover from The Old Days when pet slots were super limited here and Keith had said he would never let us get more than that limit? Free pet slots are the best prize the site can give us; I don't want to trade that out for some random other prizes.

I'm not /super/ into pets but I always manage to fill my new slots. c: I'd be super keen to see different currency prizes go out too though - referral points would be brilliant (as would loyalty points) and forum points are nice too. I feel like Crypts points are given away often enough via the bathhouse though. There aren't that many items in the shop (but I don't really want more added).

People have! There have been other currencies mentioned and I have a few ideas as well. Items themselves I don’t really want to add because it’d flood the system no matter what we picked. So things like forum titles MAYBE A TROPHY NEXT TIME, etc will be good along with something like maybe a crypt prize or referral point :)

oh for sure we have so many users that are like I’M NOT A PET PERSON BUT I’M GOING TO HELP (some for the sP, some wanting to see their friends/strangers get the stuff they want, etc). It’s great to see everyone working together, I love getting responses on social media to our Twitter etc like YES DID ALL THE QUESTS LET’S GO NEXT DAY and stuff haha

In the future, we will switch up the prizes more. Likely there will always be a pet slot, but we've been doing other things with the other bits (we have done bathhouse with this and the last tho). In the future we might have a few other currencies and forum title or something else. Doing a choice between things makes it way harder to get prizes out to all those that participate which is why you get all the prizes instead of choose. I say no Cash Shop things because it would be way too many items/CSC going out. We have so many users that help out with quest-a-thons!

Maybe there could be a quest-a-thon item that mimics the loyalty box- everyone who participates could get one when they win, and there can be different prize options- like a pet slot, or a bundle of holiday currencies, something like that. If you went with the bundle route you could say "pet slot + forum title" bundle, "holiday currencies + forum title" bundle, "quest points + box of memories x5 + subeautique invitations x5" bundle (just random examples, I'm sure staff knows what would work better for the economy etc).

I loooooove pet slots and will always be picking that, but options are always good!

Not really an unpopular opinion I have no use of pet slots. In fact, here is my current standing: pet slots 11/19. Mind you, I'm a big pet person but I have no motivation to work on my pet as of right now. I'd like some sort of "other prize" if you aren't really into it. I know said no CS items/CSC but what about a one week medal or something? I don't know but maybe another form of prizes would motivate me to do the quests required while helping everyone. I kinda want to help but at the same time ... I'm not interested in any of the prizes. I'm just helping out so I don't really know.

I think there should be more gift or an option. Because I don't want new pet slots. I have all that I need. So maybe it should be changed to pet slot OR something. Please take this into consideration

That's understandable! Something like how the bathhouse does it would be cool, like a certain amount of tokens for holiday shops or special shops (quest/forum/referral), since it is difficult sometimes to be around during a holiday event due to other obligations therefore you miss out on some great items or the list for items from the specialty shops keeps getting bigger and bigger. Just a suggestion though, I know most people are wanting pet slots so it will be an unpopular opinion I am sure. Thank you for reading the suggestion :)

Just a suggestion.. but I have so many pet slots I will never use and don't need, I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat, maybe next quest-a-thon we can have a choice between a pet slot and something else? Like cash shop credits, GA medal, heck even quest points I'd love that! I always try and do all of the quests so people who do want a pet slot can get one, but it would be fun to get some enjoyment out of it!
