Get Your Brew On: Voting!

Submissions for the Get Your Brew On contest are officially closed but voting is open for all!

Almost 300 submissions will show up anonymously. This is to keep the contest from becoming a popularity contest. That means you should not post or give hints on the forums or anywhere else on which submission is yours during voting. Your idea should speak for itself. ;)

Voting will be closing at 11:59pm on September 28th. You can vote for 5 microbrews.

Remember to judge based on what kind of drink is most appealing to you. Don't just go for the best image, take the time to read all the descriptions and everything else provided!

If you mean the red bar at the top that says you've chosen 5, it's not a warning! C: It's just there to show how many votes you have left I think.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The only alcohol I've ever drunk was a glass of champagne at a friends bday party. Otherwise I have no idea what beer and other alcohol tastes like D: But it is good reading other people's descriptions of it since it gives the descriptions an extra sense of depth to them!

Augh, now that voting has been opened up I'm too scared to vote. Also the comment belown on infringing is now terrifying me because I don't drink so my brew was all designed in my head but now WHAT IF I ACCIDENTALLY D8 weeps

The amount of research some did is astounding, and it really shows dedication! I think it's also because of how many users don't drink irl, either cause of age or personal reasons. I can't because of the medication I take (even if I didn't take meds, alcoholic beverages just smell atrocious to my sensitive nose). So I absolutely have no idea about tastes or flavor palettes with drinks.

Yeah, I must have miscounted and thought there was an extra row, since I counted again and came to 98 rows. So 294 o.o At least all this going through is giving me an extra chance to read the descriptions XD

Counted a fourth time, I'm pretty certain there's 98 rows. But maybe it is 97, and I just miscounted too. Thanks for double-checking though, cause it helps. xD

I made sure there weren't 4 in a row or something too. xD

Yeah, I see mine. Nope, there was only one submit button. Hopefully for yours and anyone's whose isn't there it'll be fixed!

I went through and counted and it came to 297 (although I could have miscounted a row). So if it is supposed to be 300 then a few must be missing o.o Have you tried refreshing the page? Because it's supposed to be randomized so perhaps some entries get left out on each refresh (though it's probably not a likely explanation).

Note: I've been refreshing to get the page to see if they're just rotating entries in and out or just randomizing, but mine still shows up even after a dozens of refreshes. This leads me to believe that there isn't any rotating in/out of entries on the page.

Well that's good to hear that users can change their votes before it closes. But definitely agree an edit to the announcement should be made that there were some missing entries.

I don't think it'd be necessary to reset voting (though an announcement would probably still be necessary) since people can switch their votes until voting is closed? But yeah, your entry should definitely be there since mine shows up when I go to the voting page.

I guess it's too late now, but it would have been nice if there was a filtering process before it came down to user voting (an entry blatantly in hopes of a participation prize? Really?)

I didn't see my entry on there either, which I first assumed was normal because no one should be able to vote for their own submission. Hence why I bothered to count to make sure 299 entries were there. =/

"All 300 entries" shouldn't mean 6 are unfortunately missing. All the more reason to break up the amount of entries to 20 or 15 entries per page. Less likely for staff to accidentally miss including entries. And now the voting will have to be reset on account of this mistake.

D: 300 entries? All on one page? Not randomized to show different ones on top each time?

Maybe next time, do a ranking system for users. Like, show 10 entries per page and have the user rank them 1-10; do 30 pages, 10 entries at a time until the entire group is rated. At the end, show the user their top 10 rated selections and have them pick their 5 favorites? Right now this is kind of overwhelming.

Out of curiosity, is this just a user picked win or are there staff picks as well?

I think I've done it. I've managed to narrow it down to five entries which all had interesting names, decent visual concepts, actually say something interesting about the alcohol, and are comfortably related to the site. That said, I may still change a couple before the end.

Is it possible for the entries to rotate? that way it won't be the same entries on top all the time :) there's so many creative entries, it'd be a shame if some were missed because of where they were placed on the page~

I think it might have been a better idea to give each person a different randomly selected list of, say, 20 entries, and ask us to pick two. That's much easier than reading through 300 entries (!!!).

I'm starting to regret not putting some sort of image, now I'm afraid my submission will be overlooked (even though I find it extremely amusing)

I definitely can see where those people who submitted with logos are going to have an advantage here. Unless people are using search to find something they're interested in - people are just going to look for images that catch their eye vs. reading 300 (really 300?) entries. Subeta couldn't have picked their top 20 and let us vote from there?

I kinda wish these had been filtered a little more (or at all if they werent) before letting us vote. I agree a lot of them are quite good but there are still a decent enough portion that seem like they have little effort. That's usually not too bad but when it's 300 entries we have to go through...

Will the entries show up in random order? If not, the contest may favor entries that show up closer to the top simply because of how many entries there are.
