You know guys, what I'm really disappointed in is the lack of hilarious wood jokes. Jen has been closest so far with her 'always had a soft spot for Wood' comment. Might I also suggest 'Waking up to see Wood this morning really had me excited!'

Oh, that looks pretty awesome. I agree it might be nice to indicate that it's a custom overlay for newcomers or anyone who didn't happen to be here when they talked about it on the news page, though that could clutter up the spot-light post.

I liked your comment, Chibi ❤️ But sometimes one needs to elaborate slightly more for... some... people. I'm usually not this, uhm, rude (?), to other users. But this just sort of ticked me off too much (and I slightly blame biting my tongue regarding the recent Escalade revamp... boy hooty do I still have a great desire to hug Hagane for her beautiful work and kick dickwad users' faces in).

Oh me, oh my. People will whine about anything, eh. People, the site very much told us that they were going to be showing the custom overlays on the main news page. We knew this already. While I agree that an indication of custom work would be nice for the new users who don't know much, I don't agree that customs should be excluded here as the users who use them pay for that perk (and are any of you who are bitching newbies ? Or are you bitching to bitch ?).

Specifically, Fyn, you should have taken offense by Chibi's comment. Your comment "Most custom pet pages remove what color the pet is" is a very clear indication that you know crap about custom pet profiles. It is against the rules omit that information (or to use incorrect information regarding the pets color). So if you're too lazy to click onto the profile and simply read a small line to know what color a pet is, well, you shouldn't really whine about not knowing. If you don't know the subject to which you're arguing, don't argue.

So very sorry, but it was meant to point out that your whining was really pretty idiotic, considering that when you click on the pet, it will STILL say what color it is, overlay or not. Again, just use your head. And feel quite free to be insulted if I pointed out that people don't, on a regular basis.

Of course it /would/ be me that gets my custom overlay in the news first! Probably best so I can deal with all of you guys xD Thanks for the compliments, I'm super happy to see that a lot of you have visited his page already n___n He's been meandering about the queue for a while now! I redid his overlay a little while ago to update it for the site-wide thing, and I'm glad that apparently was great timing :o He is very dear to me, as are all of my 'Teashop Crew' pets. I wish I had the time to work on them all! (And I'll talk to Keith about maybe having more of an indication that it's a custom overlay so as not to confuse the newbies)

i honestly think the pet spot light of all places absolutely is where a custom overlay belongs, it's pretty much the epitome of what the pet spotlight means! it highlights right away all the detail and character put into the pet!

that being said, this is all really wonderful! the art and the story especially, it really gives such a nice sense of character!

Or are you going to tell new players who don't know about custom overlays that they're dumb they didn't know this was an actual color?

All we're asking is when it's a custom overlay, to give a label on it on the Pet Spotlight post. It's not much to ask.

When you take a break and come back, you don't know if a new color was released or not. Or when new people start on the site.

Most custom pet pages remove what color the pet is, so no, it won't take "just brainpower" most of the time. I knew it was an overlay, but I still felt directly insulted by your post.

How about all you guys complaining that you didn't know what this pet was, or that the overlay threw you off, just use the brainpower you were born with instead of asking to be spoonfed every tidbit of information that's out there to be had? I mean seriously, if you were curious about the pet, it took a couple seconds to click on it and minimal thought process to realize that "Oh hey, that's one of those custom overlays!" Jeesh.

And here I was, all excited thinking that it was a different pet color that I'd never seen before. Great win, but the custom overlay thing REALLY throws me off. Can it be clarified next time when a pet is using custom overlay art for the pet spotlight?

I strongly disagree. For those of us spending a lot of money to get overlays to use for our pets, we have every right to use them on Subeta. We bought that right when we bought the privilege to use our custom overlays "everywhere on site". That means everywhere, including the Pet Spotlight.

I saw a lot of people complaining about the Custom Overlay feature, and to those, I say: get over it. When you're spending $25-35 and then some for good, Subeta quality overlays, plus additional money for the right to use that overlay on Subeta, you deserve to get what you paid for. Stop bringing other people down who are working hard to make their pets' pages look good, as well as busting their wallets and paying the artists the money they need to make a living. Many of the people making these overlays are Subeta artists, or could-be Subeta artists, and they need an income, too.

I love the custom overlay, but there really needs to be an indication that's what it is... like NoirRaven new users would get confused. Even as little as 'Wood the &; custom Graveyard Kanis' would clarify.

I kind of agree the custom overlay shouldn't be active on Pet Spotlight posts.

Or at least have a "This pet's look is a custom overlay, and is not available on Subeta." or something in the post.

Oh, wait a minute... this is because of that permanent overlay thing, isn't it? :/ This could cause a lot of confusion for newcomers. They'll think it's a pet color and join, only to find out it's a fan original. I don't think it should be active on these kinds of posts.

Not that I'm against the change but I'm kind of curious what brought it on... I kind of liked seeing the basic pet. It gave me a reason to check out the winners to see what made them great.

Firstly, the new overlay feature is illustrated so well with Wood! But more importantly, this guy has been cool since forever. So happy he finally won the Spotlight! C:
