8D oooh well that threw me off a good bit, seeing an overlay in the news instead of a generic pet pic. but i love it! was rather confused and took a few moments for me to figure out it wasn't a new pet color or something. I figured it out quickly enough, but a newbie newbie might not as easily lol.

But congrats rah! =) Wood is amazing. I'm glad you finally got publicly recognized for your amazing and glorious, awe-inspiring Wood.

I just want to reiterate, because this is actually still being used as an argument... They can't. Newbies can't see this. "The news page (when logged out) shows a plain old Graveyard Kanis. As always."

Rah, Wood is Stunning! I can't get my hand around what it is about him I like so much, but its one of your pets so its to be expected.

I think the reason so many people are up in arms about this is because Rah is a site artist so the art on her overlay could be mistaken for site art. I think most overlays won't have this problem. not because the art isn't good, but because the style is so different. I think once we start getting more and more custom overlay wins people will scroll through the news and see the different styles of art and such and there is no need for something saying CUSTOM OVERLAY.

Aren't you being a tad selfish here? You're declaring us wrong because YOU'RE happy now and there's no real reasoning to back it up aside from, "I like it so you're wrong." Also, newbies will not understand this feature, especially when compared to every other winner in the past. They will believe that the pet featured above is a new color and they'll sign up thinking they can get it.

Those of us who aren't fans just want some god damn notification that yes, this a custom, not an official pet color. It's one line of font and shouldn't be too hard to code into these kinds of posts. Congrats on liking the feature but don't declare other people wrong because we don't.

As for those of you who think the Pet Spotlight is the worst place for the Custom Overlays, you couldn't be more wrong. Shortly after Subeta started doing a pet spotlight, I wished that overlays could be showed when a pet wins, instead of the official art. Reading through these awful arguments made me remember that wish, and now I'm even more happy about this new feature. I've already spent $10 to put one of my pet's overlays on the site and I will be so glad to hopefully see that overlay on the news in the future. I don't even think a little note should be added to show that the pet image is a custom overlay. Why? Because it says "_______" has won the Pet Spotlight. Seriously. If Subeta released a new species or a new pet color, it would be more obvious than a news post with only one short sentence in it. I'm not trying to insult anyone's intelligence or anything, but this should be obvious.

And now that I have participated in taking the spotlight away from a well deserved win, I'm done saying anything more about the issue.

I can't believe people would feel this is the appropriate place to voice concerns about the way the site works. It's not like we have a forum or anything to use.

I wasn't around the when first got Wood, but I'm sure glad that all the time she spent polishing it went to good use!

I have thought long and hard about your Wood, Rah. I have wanted to say something that would penetrate you on a deeper level, without leaving a bitter taste in ones mouth. It's a hard fact that I love Wood, and I would like to really pound out some well thought out compliments, if a little gushy and sticky in places, about Wood. Truth be told, I have a soft spot deep within, constantly throbbing, for Wood. But it seems I keep coming up short, if a little flaccid, and generally just leaving even myself unsatisfied to the potential head swelling ego stroking I desire to do. I am sure that someone else will rise to the occasion and really nail in something more pleasurable. I have been sitting on my final comment for a while now and feel I might as well let my fingers do the talking. I secretly want to take your Wood, Rah. However unsafe that may be.

I have honestly made myself very uncomfortable.

Awesome, I was waiting for when we'd get our first overlay spotlight. I feel like this is one of the primary (one of many) reasons to get an overlay just for the Spotlight.

Just add the custom wearable star to the overlay on the news post/maybe battle statistics. Doesn't need to be added on the pet profiles (obviously) or really user profiles either, imo, since people can already change those.

Also, clicking on Wood's profile and seeing "Graveyard Kanis" doesn't really do anything for the confusion, in either direction. BEING DICKS back and forth doesn't either, fyi!

Grats on the win , your Teashop universe has always been intriguing and Wood always seemed like a fair bit of the foundation, so a well suited win.

Anywho, congratz Rah, love the pet, story, and art! Simply beautiful!

As to the 'great debate' I completely agree a word or two about it being a custom overlay would be much appreciated and useful. A little more info never hurt nobody! The whole uppity "common sense" argument is rather douche-y. Not everyone is current with recent news or is up-to-date on all pet colors. But you know, common sense should've told you that amirite?

To be fair, not everyone is on subeta all the time, and might have missed some news. I know I haven't read every single newspost on subeta, so it's not that hard to imagine.

Pretty sure everyone saying they were thrown off should use a little common sense... If there was a new pet color, it would have obviously been announced. We were all told that custom overlays for spots around the site were being implemented. Use your common sense, people.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Gotta say I thought it was some new Graveyard color before I remembered the custom overlay thing, too. I think some kind of little notice on the post or page that says "hey, custom overlay here" somewhere would head a lot of confusion off at the pass. It would also be a great mini advertisement for custom overlays. Hint hint, subeta.
