Featured Game: Net Gain!

The activities continue today with our first featured game to come from Riverside! If The Bug Game was offensive to your moral sensibilities, today's featured game Net Gain should prove to be much more peaceful (not to mention more relaxing)!

Charity doesn't have a whole lot of free time, but when she's not volunteering she enjoys a leisurely walk and some bug catching. (The bugs, of course, are released!) If you can beat her score of 50 there are up to 10 bonus EPICon points in it for you, but if not, you can still get points for doing your best! Don't forget that you can still earn up to 70 regular points per day by playing any combination of our EPICon games!

Mmmk I got lucky and caught 50..... it's a pain because most of the time you really gotta move the net to catch em.... and then others zoom by DX

haha it would be fun they said it would be relaxing they said yeaaaah nope this game is incredibly frustrating the bugs need to come faster and need to be smaller because as is it's taking minutes to get to 40 and then lose when one that you think the net is positioned correctly for slips by

It's entirely possible to get 50 points on this game, but it's not enjoyable at all. If this was meant to be a frustrating game, someone clearly excelled at making one. xD

The capture zone is too small, wave timing often forces you to miss one or two bugs, and various other problems make this not a very good game.

Nevertheless, I have captured 50+ bugs 10 times and gotten my bonus points for the day. Screw everything.

Will someone just please fix the problems in this game? yes like everyone else I'm talking about the damned net and giant bugs. I mean the problems are so obvious, didn't anyone in the staff play this thing before putting it into epicon? And please if you do manage to fix them make a news thing or something because I won't be trying that again. Real life is already frustrating enough. Sorry if I offended anyone, pretty sure it's hard coding games and such but please give more thought to these games, we are really trying here because we like the event and want to make as many points as we can.

They really need to fix the collision detection on this game, for serious, and also fix the problem where there are bugs that are impossible to catch both of.

THAT SAID, I vastly prefer this to the bug smashing game, because it is actually pretty easy for me to get to 50 bugs. Also I really hope that everyone starts getting the beanbag prize so my friend can buy it, because it is absurdly priced right now.

Wow, I didn't think I'd like anything's bonus score less than the Bug Game, but here we are. The active area of the net makes it impossible to catch two bugs zipping at you, it's annoying.

Wow, am I the only one -not- having issues with this game? I usually score between 60 and 100 without much difficulty :/

Ah, now I remember why I hate this game so much. Despite that after nearly 45 minutes I've managed to get my 10 bonus points.

I've been having the problem that sometimes when I catch a bug, and it goes into my net it doesn't count towards my score. I'll even catch the next one, and it'll go up, but only by one point. Anyone else getting this particular glitch? (I've also had the problem of them flying through the net. And no. I didn't just miss. They'll be flying at the very top or very bottom of the screen, and I'll have my net position at the very top or bottom and it'll fly through. I've also had problems with this happening mid-screen, but that could just be debated away that I didn't have it, 'Just right.')

i usually line the bug up between the two areas of darker gray shading on the net, if it helps those who have issues with the bugs going past the net.

I thought the poorly defined hitbox problem with this game got fixed but I guess I just imagined that because the bugs still zip right on past my net when by all visible assessments they should be going inside it. I'm skipping this game, it's absolutely not worth the frustration it causes. The damn thing could spit out CSC and I still wouldn't play it because it's just a terrible game.

Issues, Issues

How did you make this a featured game? Is this game even finished? Issues are listed below:

Bugs go through the net (no matter how perfectly you position it about every second bug will go through the net)
Net only catches one bug at a time (there can be 2 bugs making it to the net at the same time, the net will only catch one of them
50 is impossible and you know it. If anyone on the staff made it to 50 in less than 20 tries I would like to see you prove it

Since this news posting I've play I don't know how many games and got to 50 twice. I'm very close to just saying the hell with this game for today and every day after. :( Bad enough to not even be at 5 bugs caught and already missed 8 because no matter how I put the net it's like it's not even there.

Wow this game sucks! Most of the time the bugs are flying past the net or when a slow one is come, a fast one will come past it and pass at exactly the same time so you miss one. Fffffffffff!!!!!!

So...the game ends, I score 49 and the bug continues to fly around in the back as the screen says "game over"....Yea, the damn bug is taunting me. -__- Grrrr

this is a very poorly designed game. it seems incredibly inconsistant in regards to what is going to count as a "hit" vs a "loss" and lord knows there's nothing more satisfying than perfectly lining up your net with a bug's trajectory and then watching it slowly float past. maybe give us a better defined hitbox, or change it to where the hitbox covers entire open mouth of the net (as common sense would dictate)

Erm I think this will be the first time I actually skip a daily game. The bugs come by way too slowly and when they do, they reach the net at the same time. Also sometimes bugs seem to phase through the net. Played for 5 minutes and only got up to 33. Music is nice though

If it helps anyone, I had better luck catching bugs when I lined them up with the bottom of the net's opening, moved the net downward a little as they approached. It's like you can't tell which part of the net will catch them, and this way the bugs hit different parts of the net as you move it, so you're bound to catch them somewhere along the way.

Still, this game is so frustrating, and those kamikaze bees are way too fast.

Suggestion: Narrow the bugs' hit boxes, or increase the net's a little, and allow for mouse control instead of/in addition to the arrow keys.

500 sp per game. lol, "profit" indeed. Whoever named the achievement must have a twisted sense of humor. Although it's odd, I just got a tier of said achievement, but can't seem to find it on the achievements page.

I also want to know why a bee or ladybug decides to zoom out just as I'm trying to catch the crazy flying butterfly? It always seems to choose just as the butterfly is about 1in (2in if you add for the crooked flight path) from the net. Either one I try for goes right past the net.

Someone hand me a blowtorch. I'll catch those bugs one way or another here.
