Does anyone have an example of a pet with a custom overlay?
How do you upload an overlay? What would one look like? Can you share an example? Thanks! <3
Late question, I know, but a question about the kemonomimi/gijinka - would things such as Harpies, Centaurs, Fairies, Angels etc, come under the not allowed? Particularly as things like Harpies can appear largely human depending on how modern the interpretation?
Eh...people will be using this feature rapidly a few months from now. I mean, it happened with CWs and whatnot.

...I'd probably use this feature, given that it replaces the official art, but my issue is that the two pets I've actually got ideas for would pretty much be humans with tails/ears/horns...and that's the way I want them, so yeah. Maybe someday, once I come up with an anthro or quad pet. shrugs
I love this feature! I can't wait to get started on an art project and set this into motion for myself. I recall this being suggested on the forums, and am both happy and surprised to see that it now actually exists. I can see why it would cost a bit, but it makes sense. If everyone changed all of their pets, Subeta pets wouldn't really have much of a defined shape any more.

I too find 1k a little expensive, especially for people with a lot of pets. Then again, I don't have a lot of pets I would want to do this for anyway.
Cool, but I prefer keeping the overlay on the profile. I also have to wonder how this is going to work with fan pets. Couldn't you run into copyright issues?
Hmm I looked at the rules for this and while I don't plan on using this feature at all but I see some people are asking what some things are so I'm going to try to explain a tiny bit of what I know.
What are Quads? Quads are short for Quadruped (An animal that has four feet, esp. an ungulate mammal.) But not all animals have 4 feet.. as someone pointed out, so it's just a general term for animals like man is a general term for humans... can't really use animal so much because it can also be use for anthros in a sense..
What are Anthros? In short... an anthro is an animal with some human characteristics.. The Hustler could be considered an anthro so can Rita (another one of subeta's NPCs)
What are kemonomimis/gijinkas? Well these are the opposite of Anthros (I believe). They are humans with animal characteristics.. I don't have much of a comparison here... but some people do pokemon gijinkas (which would be humans with pokemon characteristics).. trust me just look up gijinka on Deviantart and you will see what I mean.. same for kemonomimi xD
I will say this though... many of those rules are still a bit vague but then again I won't be using the service, personally I was to see more things to do on the site other than quest =/
What does this mean for adoptions? Does the image stay with the pet or the account? I can also see a lot of problems with art theft..
Who needs the site working when you could introduce a BRAND NEW TOTALLY NOT POINTLESS FEATURE?
I kinda knew that this was coming and it's a great idea for those who are willing to pay. However as I'm considering overlaying my pets in how it was done previously, I really don't want this to take over it as I don't really want to see my overlays completely all over the site. (which I heard is still allowed, yay!) However, I do agree that the rules need to be clearer and the idea that it has to be a subeta pet equivalent (which I can understand) but what if someone wants their pet to be based on a real animal? The price is a little expensive and I'd rather purchase another pet slot instead (which is another 1000 CSC but it's worth it)

Dear Subeta, More Information Please. You have fantastic artists and fun games and events, but you need to hire some copy writers who excel at explaining things in a way that makes perfect sense. In other words, you have to be able to 'sell' your new features, and so far, you have earned a D- marketing this new item, Subeta is a business after all. You haven't explained adequately 'where' these images will show up, you haven't explained 'how' this feature may benefit users, or 'how' the 1000CSC price is justifiable, and you haven't explained exactly 'what' is going to be allowed or not allowed in a fashion that leaves many of us wondering why this new feature is even the slightest bit relevant to us. So we are left to quibble. If I had any real complaint about Subeta, it would be the apparent attitude of the staff toward the users in an attempt to keep all Subetans feeling like mushrooms about how to do things. Can you show some examples? C'mon, sell this thing, I just might bite if the bait was tasty.

Nice idea, but very expensive... why not 500 csc? So then 1,000 could be for 2 pets.
1k is high if you need to pay a good artist for an overlay, too... ^^°
One of the few pets I want to actually use this for I can't because the overlay I have shows him holding his minion :(
What on earth are 'quads'? I'm guessing you're not talking about the type of vehicle..
could you maybe be a bit clearer about the distinction between anthros and kemonomimi/gijinka? the latter two are terms I had never heard before and had to google a definition.. maybe a small example picture explaining the differences between the three would be nice.
I only really look at my pet's overlays when I'm viewing their profiles so this isn't appealing to me but I can see how it'd be neat for someone who is constantly looking at their pet buttons/battling/etc. Even if it seems pricey it's a neat idea and my guess is that those who really love it won't care about the price too much ahah.

Good concept! I'd probably only use it for one of my guys, although a lot of em have overlays. Bekkam could use this, haha. But 1000 csc? Ouchie wa-wa.

It's an interesting feature, but badly priced. At a lower price, people would end up buying this for all of their pets. At this price point, you're likely to get a lot fewer takers, which seems counterproductive.

so if I add the custom overlay to a Glade pet, as example, would the description be "Xxxx the male/female/genderless Glade Kumos" even though it looks nothing like a glade kumos?

This is pretty cool! I'm perfectly content with having overlays on my pet page and admiring the official art everywhere else though, so I probably won't be doing this. Still, it's awesome for the people who want to show off their overlays!
It's nice to see you gave Gabriel some work! Sometimes I miss this NPC. It would be great to see him revamped now that you're using him for this.
I'll consider this for one or two of my pets where site art is just too different from their character, but at the 1k price, I am NOT going to use it for all my pets. Some pets only have small changes, and 1k isn't worth it for them.
Will they be getting rid of potions and elixirs now?
I'm not digging the price at all. Custom wearables at $50 is understandable but a pet overlay at $10. Just....I don't understand where the pricing comes from. It's a waste of money if we're still able to use the code. If we're not I guess I'm not working on my pet pages any time soon.

I'm pretty sure the only time I would ever be able to see my pets with this custom overlay thing would be when I'm battling which doesn't seem worth it to me. It's a nice idea, kinda pricey however imo
I will never use this....too expensive for me and it's not something i would really want anyway. But this is nice for those who like it~
This seems pretty useless to me...I can see how other people would like it but it's nothing I'd ever consider paying for, unless it was ultra cheap(like less than 50CSC)

Okay the 1000 csc is bullshit. Seriously, it should have been no more than 250 because of the mass number of pets people have. I have 20pets and over half of them I planned to use this feature for. I personally can't see myself using this feature, but I really really love the idea omg Also, I think a lot of people aren't quite understanding what it does? $10 to replace the art for your pet sitewide for all users to see isn't really that steep considering what other things around here cost. I'm especially excited to see this on pets in the spotlight, considering the official art often isn't a good reflection of the actual pet and it's profile and story (actually it can be downright misleading in cases lol)
