Stegosaurus has always been my favorite classic dino! They're just so iconic with their bony plates and spiky tail. I'm an herbivore too, so I can relate.
Chickens are my favorite extant dinos. I've had pet chickens and I loved watching them strut around the yard like tiny T. rexes.
I am living for the recent dramas with the Spinosaurus, did it have a tadpole tail? did it not? do we care? Who knows! I love seeing science get updated and new understandings happen.
Also still sad that we bombed the museum with the skeleton in ww2, so much information was lost because mustache man wanted to keep stuff on display as proof of German success.
Also love microraptors, such a unique and interesting limb formation and method of movement. And Dearc sgiathanach; I follow the lead author on the paper describing it and it was so cool seeing the information come out and how passionate they were about it.
Honorable mention for an excellent non-dino though has to go to Beelzebufo, what a lad.
As a child, The Plesiosaur for sure, basically The Swampie lol. Nowadays, I'm not as much of a dino-buff, or as knowledgeable, but I can submit my favourite extinct animals, which would be Mammoths, and the more recent Tasmanian Tiger.
Suchomimus tenerensis, Giganotosaurus, and Argentinosaurus.
I'm dead tired of Jurassic park/world, tho I would love to revisit Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or other less gknown dino themed fictions.
thank you for all your answers! i love to hear what peoples fave dinos (and/or other extinct animals) are!! sorry i havent been on in a few months, things got busy and my rat is currently terminally ill so im busy caring for her :( the time kinda flew by since i was last on in october.
Since we're talking extinct animals, one of my faves is the tasmanian wolf/tasmanian tiger (official known as a thylacine)- i learnt about them waaaay back in 2011ish, and theyve been on my fave extinct animals list since. the last one (known to mankind, that is) passed in 1936, so theyre a more modern extinct animal. there are a few photographs of them still around, they look rlly funky- i hightly suggest you take a look if interested!
