Happy Spring! It's been a busy season for me. I had 'that' cold everybody had this January...you know the one i'm talking about, lots of dry coughing, tired all the time, all you want to do is drink whiskey....no? But I got over it eventually.

February was nominal, it just went by a little too fast, as if it were shorter somehow.

March was cold and snowy, so Welly and I hunkered down, carbo-loaded on gingersnaps and hot cocoa simply;y cocooned.

My author and his girls (dannygyrrl, and glitter) came up to the mountains to take Weldon and me fishing at Shaver Lake this last Tuesday. Holy Moly we had a blast! The weather was perfect, about 70 F, blue sky with horsetail clouds. Alas, they didn't catch any fish from the shore, but I got a limit of very nice trout.

Weldon caught a massive sucker fish by pretending to be the bait and luring the fish to eat him. Weldon lands the big fish by cleaning it from the inside out, very practical and a real labor-saving technique. To the uninitiated, it looks like that scene from Men in Black. Weldon always plays like it's accidental, but he overplays the hysterical bit so you know he's simply messing around.

My author totally ate shit on the way back to the automobile car. He's still having vertigo (the Dr. says it's nerve damage caused by none other than the Covid) but has been getting along just fine. His knees are really bad and hurt going down slopes and stairs. Not so bad going up. Except this time. He had walked up the slope from the shoreline, taking his time, when all of a sudden the ground was rapidly approaching! "What the heck?" he said to nobody in particular as face smacked the ground. "I buggered up my hat," he replied to himself as he inspected the inside of his hat with his face. Both wrists hurt badly, so he rolled onto his side and quickly inspected them for breaks (none). Both knees hurt badly so he inspected them for...well... he didn't know what to look for in a hurt knee, they always hurt. But the right knee, (the really really really bad one) hurt the worst and was swelling as he groped it with absolutely no knee-groping skill whatsoever.

His next thought was about standing. That idiotic notion was quickly replaced with thoughts of ice-cold Blue Moon beer in the Esky. His self-deprecating lackadaisical attitude about being an old fart lying on the ground in pain quickly turned to a pitiful, whining, crybaby call to dannygyrrl for help. Dannygyrrl and her son offered him their paws and I motivated him to stand by biting his butt. Weldon offered him a fish heart to give him strength, and I climbed up on his shoulder to encourage him as he staggered back to the automobile car and so that I wouldn't have to struggle with my huge load of fish and my wet tail dragging in the dirt and sand. There's nothing more inconvenient than sand creeping into your nethers from dragging a wet tail behind you.

My author is fine, no permanent damage, as far as we can tell. It's Friday and his knee has unlocked a little bit and he's walking around the house with a stick and drugs. Weldon smoked all our fish ( though they were a little difficult to light....LOLOLOL ) (more later)........
