I had a morty card leftover from yesterday that I forgot about.. don't remember if I got one today or not. But I did get the 10 csc from kumos!
I just keep track of where I start with.. I do my dailies, etc before then.
Hello, Good COLD Morning No ice around at the moment, but everything is soaking wet. I bet it all freezes tonight. I won't be surprised if they cancel school for tomorrow. We will see later today.
2.5mil sP profit from kumos today - 2 quests quit (one Saggi, one Rumi - Rumi wanted a 3mil sticker again sigh)
We ended up with about a foot.. I helped Alex shovel the driveway again today, leaving the rest to the girls. I can't do anything else, my wrist is so swollen.
He stayed home though, the plow didn't come through until 7:48 am LOL.
wow I just can't imagine!!
Been working on lesson plans. Realized I have almost NOTHING for the 2nd week. No books, no ideas, only one small group activities... ooops. I have stuff for the 1st, 3rd, 4th and even a bit for the 5th, but nothing for the 2nd week HAHAHAH I just looked up the "national" days for March to get inspiration. I now have plans (IF the teacher isn't already planning on one activity) and ideas, but need books still. Will have to hunt some down. We are doing the letter E that week, so I can use that as a focus point too
Maybe I'll skip it and move on to week 3 and get that sorted a bit? I dunno. Maybe later today.
Week 1 is Dr Suess and a bit of weather - you know, the whole "In like a lion, out like a lamb" thing for the beginning of March. Letter K Week 2 ? Shapes? Weather craft (rain cloud or sunshine), Letter E - my new thoughts - that week its National Napping Day on Monday (so maybe the Napping House book) and Pi Day (on Saturday) so maybe a special snack on Friday Week 3 - St Patricks Day - leprechaun stuff & books, letter O, maybe rainbow stuff Week 4 - Spring/Animals Letter R Week 5 - Easter/April Letter G
I like it! Sounds like you've got at least a little bit of an idea happening haha
I spent the last two hours or so making a heart garland and decorating the tree for valentines day, apparently, since I can't bring myself to take the lights down. It's very tacky, and also I love it.
I love the garland so much I may hang it up in the craft room when I'm done haha.
Its a good thing I have all of February to work on it, including a full week off school mid-Feb to finalize anything - I'll have all day those days LOL I do have to have my lead teacher and professor "approve" it before March 2nd, but I know that won't be an issue. (And I can do a week at a time if I need more time to finish the last couple weeks anyway!) And I have to make sure my other two "lesson plans" I have to turn in officially are based off something on these lesson plans too.... So fun.
I just got the hang of inputting links and then I opened the thing in another way and now I can't do the links and its frustrating me. GRRR (I went from the one I had on my desktop to the one I had uploaded to my online docs). So now I feel like I had to figure it all out again, I'm managing. Some videos give me a "get the link" button and others don't which is ALSO frustrating when I need to copy/paste the link and hyperlink it to the word doc for the lesson plan (we use a word doc with links for videos, makes life so much easier when all you have to do is click a link !!!)
I'll get it all figured out and done, but it was frustrating me. I also realized I screwed up and put a bunch of "O" videos on the lesson plan when the letter is "E" so I have to switch them to week 3 and look up "E" videos sigh
Your heart garland is soooo cute and who cares if anyone thinks its tacky !! If you like having a "holiday" tree, then do so! Enjoy your lights!
Well, I think it's tacky :P I don't care what anyone else things. But I'm still enjoying it haha.
Skipped one of maybels quests so far.
Ugh, that sounds so annoying!
Yep. It was so annoying I took a break from it. I might work on it more later this afternoon. I'm also trying to make sure I'm not repeating exact videos within a week - there's lots out there, so instead of having the same "good morning" video every Monday I'm trying to vary it, if you know what I mean. Some things are the same - for example, I will use the Jack Hartmann "letter O" video one week and the same style "letter E" video the next, but I'm also varying some of those up, since there is ALSO a bunch of different ones we use. Basically I am doing what she does, as its "Her" class and I'm supposed to "teach the way she does" while in her room Except, yeah Its also MY way, excepting I never had to create the lesson plans myself before LOL So yeah. Fun times working on that part now.
I honestly think, unless I feel the kids are bored by it, that I will repeat things a bit more often in my own class - because I feel they learn it better that way? Like do the same good morning song all week or every Monday or something, so they REALLY learn it and can sing along to it or whatever.
In Izs preschool they did the same good morning song every day LOL.
Had to quite a Maleria (she asked for subq?!) and a saggi too :/
EDIT: And a Rumi! Ughhh
Hi guys! Brr is it cold here, and no sign of coming out of being under freezing the next week or so. :( We also have gotten at least a foot here in NY.
Still...I'm more worried about my friends from Texas because they are NOT used to the cold and their pipes are so easy to burst from freezing weather down there. Sounds like you have hit some cold too, Kat. Nasty storm, this has been!
Sounds like you also have a lot planned, Kat! National holidays are a lot to keep up with, I'm sure, since there's practically one every day, if not every day!
Be careful, Mieke! I hope that your wrists will be OK! Was it heavy snow, or just all of it at once like we got here?
[flower=whatevermaycome]
Yeah, my teacher I work with does different songs every day. I remember the kinder teacher I worked with did the same one daily (so every monday was the same songs, Tuesday, etc). I remember my kids singing certain ones so many times that I learned them LOL
Ugh on cancelling so many quests. Ugh Ugh Ugh.
- Beth LOL No no - I am not keeping up with all the national holidays. I was just trying to find SOMETHING to "theme" for that week, since I didn't have a theme like the other weeks You know, since they kind of lended themselves to a theme - First, Dr Suess' birthday, Second (nothing), Third, St Patricks Day, Fourth Spring Begins, Fifth, Easter
I'm only about 40 minutes from NY state, so just the same as you got there.. so just a LOT haha.
Though thankfully Lilys boyfriend needed to use the van to jump his truck, because apparently they all did an awful job of shovelling it out.. since he's currently out there with a shovel in the dark, trying to move it. I'm glad that's not me at 6:40 am!
I love read across america week!
Gotta love teenage boys ;)
I will be cranking my car up early to get WARM before going to work tomorrow. We did finally get a notice that is school as usual tomorrow, but "Dress warm, for the weather" Well, DUH! :P But some people don't. Two or three of my kids often come to school in just a THIN hoodie. I have a feeling we will NOT be going outside for recess at all this week tho.
We have a 3 hour delay tomorrow, I think between the frigid cold and the snow.
My coworker is going to bring me in, she needs to leave early so I need to find a ride home.
Because Alex and Adam finally got the van out of the parking spot... but he slid right off the road before he managed to get it into the driveway, and getting it OUT of the driveway was even worse. :/
Oh no!! I would SO not be driving either. Nope. Hopefully someone can give you a ride home.
I'm kind of surprised they didn't choose a delay here - but we've only ever done that ONCE that I remember....and it was even COLDER that time than its supposed to be in the morning, plus icier. We had sunshine 40* weather earlier so that dried up a lot of stuff. But its supposed to be like 15* in the morning (*like 6am).
And as usual, the lovely cold snap has given me a tingle in my throat. I've been clearing it and using cough drops all day sigh Hopefully that goes away quickly and doesn't turn into anything else. This time of year I sometimes end up with an upper respiratory infection.
oh man we have delays a lot.. 3 hour delays are pretty rare though.
The weirder thing is... EVERY school around us is closed tomorrow because of the weather. It's pretty icy out.
I did end up getting a promise for a ride home, but like.. yikes!
The church is closed though, since the other school is closed (which is good, because.. I wasn't going anyway!)
Oh no Kat! I've actually used that uhh.. had to look it up. ZICAM. Both times my throat has gotten tingly and my nose a little stuffy, and it really just kicked it incredibly fast, like within a day both times instead of turning into anything. I was really shocked.
Haha I had two Rumi quests I could NOT complete today (I had the sP but wasn't wasting it) One asked for a Sweet 16 sticker going for 500k+ and then a Rreign sticker going for 18,000,000 sP+. But I completed the rest. Took one Sagittarius quest item out of my wardrobe that was worth 2,500,000 sP.
Oh didn't realize you were that close, Mieke! I forgot, or never asked! Glad you had the help to be able to dig out for getting to work :D But that's not good on the icy conditions! You and all be safe! <3
Ugh Kat I wonder how much of that is not having the money to get clothes? I worry for low income individuals (though that may not be it) I hope they don't go out for recess until the weather improves (knowing that makes for some antsy kids!) Also, hope you stay healthier and do not get any upper respiratory infections!!
I head back to internship tomorrow. Thankfully not out in the country where it's rougher going. But I still wonder if dad will take the highway, and I most likely will have us take a little extra time to get to internship tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm in between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre.. so really close! Almost exactly 3 hours to NYC and Philly both haha.
Oooh yeah, I'd think maybe they don't have winter clothes either? :(
Oh! I actually MAY be closer to you than that! I'm about an hour southwest of Syracuse in the Southern Tier, as they call it. Actually, I'm only about 10 minutes or so outside of part of PA (dad does deliveries with his work to PA sometimes because we're close enough to the border)
Yeah, my social worker brain does not easily turn off. Not that the parents intend any harm, but could just be poverty.
Of course, kids are also known to wear what they want to. I don't know the families, but I have compassion for those struggling even more in wintry weather like this.
