The mittens are plain and yellow. Pretty easy pattern to follow too. I am on the second one now, about half way.

Now that sounds like a big job. I hope you get some help moving the furniture in your room. I don't have any carpets in my flat. :)

I bet that makes a nice change from the colour work on those sweaters! And plain does make it a lot easier to make a matching second mitten too (I tried doing cables on the back of some gloves before, but the second one just refused to co-operate and make a matching pair :K :P)

The smaller bits aren't too terrible, but anything larger I'm definitely going to get help to move! There's a lot of times I feel it would be much better without carpet (especially as I've had carpet beetles in my room a couple of times, so I'm wary of what might be lurking in the carpet!!), but I do like a nice warm carpet to stand on when I get out of bed :P

:nods: It is nice to not having to worry about working with more than one colour. :D I have done mittens with cables or "braids" before. I found it fun, but you really got to make sure to follow the pattern exactly if you want a matching pair!

carpet beetles does not sound pleasant. o-oI keep a pair of slip on shoes by the bed so I don't have to step on the cold floor. :)

That was when I realised that knitting single items was a lot more fun than knitting pairs! laughs :P Maybe I should try again at some point and make them non-matching on purpose 😇

I've never found more than one carpet beetle in my room at a time.... so I don't know if there's more under the carpet, or if they were just passing through and not actually living in the carpet! Grandad's flat has clothes moths in the carpet :K but thankfully I've not had that problem!

That's definitely a good idea! Or maybe have a rug on the floor by the bed just so you've got something warm to put your feet on? ;)

right? lol Yeah I wasn't thrilled with it either and have to take pain pills so I can walk without so much ouchieness... but if it gets rid of the damn wort it will be worth it! yeah they are going very well. -nods- that's the plan. This is why some people say they knit the first socks/mitten first. :nods: I prefer single items too, but some patterns are just too tempting. Plus, mom asked me to make her a pair of mittens so.

Glad it was just the one carpet beetle, granted that is generally one too many. O_o I have never had a problem with moths, but I did get flour beetles in my kitchen one time. Was gross!

I would consider a rug in my bedroom, but it would get filled with fur pretty fast. Thanks Pusur!

It's hard enough just sewing two matching cuffs for a hoodie! 😊 (even then I usually make a mess of the second one :P)

It's not all that many pieces - front, back, pocket, two sleeves, two pieces for the hood, and two pieces for the hood lining. Out of all of it, the hardest parts are the pocket (if the fabric is too thick to pin it in place), and the sleeves (depending on the pattern, some sleeves are harder than others!). Just as long as I label the pieces (or use those coloured clips so I remember which way round the pieces go! - I've sewn a hood on upside down before 😊), it's not too terrible ;) Making a shirt is more fiddly, as there's darts to get the shaping.... a hoodie is a much easier shape ;)
