What if you just display the username only after the item is picked up? That would clear up a lot of the issues and free up the page itself while still discreetly showing who was nice enough to donate.

I feel like leaving names kind of defeats the point of donations.

but yeah, maybe reveal it after pickup or on hover or give an opt out option? I didn't notice that this was a thing before now.

I prefer knowing who donated in case the user accidentally donations high value item, and I can return it or ask if they meant to donation item.

Asking people for feedback/inquiring about whether they want the names back or not and then some posts later explaining further/actually calling it time consuming and not worth the hassle to bring them back because there are bigger things to chew on - why do you even ask?

Tbh I don’t care about the names. I just think that kind of communication felt kinda off.

Good think the queries could be reduced. I rarely notice the lag and I am looking forward to more improvements, such as the suggested pet storages..

I definitely prefer usernames -- lets me know who to thank when an unusually thoughtful donation occurs. Would it cause less lag if the username was shown when the item was picked up and not in the Donation Center itself? That way the query only happens once per item.

I'm fine if the names stay off. I understand it was nice to have if you wanted to acknowledge a generous donor, but I feel like that's not a majority of what happens with the DC. It's nice to have, but I don't feel like we -need- it.

I enjoy seeing the names of the donators. On occasion, if I saw a player was being generous and not just giving away stuff to ditch their account, I would send them gifts or buy from one of their shops. Just to keep the positive energy flowing. ☀ ;)

I love having the names so I can see who has a birthday. I also like the idea of having an option, for people who don't want their names out there. I've never had any problems with lag or loading of it either, so...

Hiding the usernames makes a lot of sense, but, AFTER picking an item, I'd love to see who donated it.

I don't know if an anonymous toggle for the DC would be viable, but part of the reason I don't use the DC to donate items is because of the fact that it isn't anonymous. I don't want to be contacted to be thanked or potentially bothered, I just want to donate items.

If I had to choose one way or another, I'd like to see it be fully anon.

This update is great, the page loads more quickly and it's visually much more accessible. I'm definitely in the 'no names' camp - it cuts down the amount of info I have to process and makes it less overwhelming, especially on a site where text can be hard to read at the best of times. Names on hover or confirmation seem like good compromises if people really want them back but personally I'm good with the way it is now.

I hadn’t noticed any lag on the donation center before all the donated hearts got removed and I had basically been camping in there since the holiday was supposed to end, and there were less in there by that point than earlier in the week, at least on the user side, so the sudden deletion was the most concerning part of it for me.

Maybe names could be toggled off and on like the sticker names in the sticker gallery, but personally I like being able to see them in at least some limited capacity.

I'm honestly fine either way on the names thing. I think if they're brought back, I would like to see an anon option if people prefer that and I think the name appearing when you collect the item seems like a good fit.

I do however feel very strongly about those two items at the bottom. It throws everything off. So my only feedback is to please use a multiple of four, otherwise looks great to me. ^_^

Coming back to say that while I do kind of like being able to see the usernames (either on the main page or after receiving an item as some have suggested), I also think that having some way to donate anonymously would be nice if it's possible to implement. It would be a good way to compromise for the people who may want to be generous without their username showing for everyone, or for people who want to do an item dump before quitting more discreetly instead of being so obvious.

I prefer to see the names on the items but I also prefer a smoothly working site lol. Maybe after you click an item, the next page could tell you who donated it? It wouldn't show you mass donations which are fun to see, but at least we'd have someone to thank in our heads. Ooh maybe that result page could give you a tally of how many items the person donated that day, too? (New daily high score list/ach/title) or is that just more heavy things...

I understand, no worries. I just think it could have been added to the beginning post as well, that’s it’s not a quick-fix. Information in a posting later on in the thread might get lost or not be read.. I am pretty sure most users are aware that there are a lot of construction and coding being done on the backend and I appreciate the honesty and communication very much.

I prefer the usernames but if you can't make it work you can't make it work!

I like that it will load faster with less lag, of course! I also like that more items are shown per page. Could they please be shown in a multiple of 4, though? I dislike seeing 2 hanging at the bottom. XD I would prefer to see usernames if possible. I like the idea to have an anonymous option, too!

How about an option where users can turn on or off personally whether their own names show up or if it's automatically marked as anonymous?
