So here's were we're at. Mum's numbers are still a bit off so we think the Doc wants to run another set of iv fluids in her to help the numbers improve. They did improve today after the last iv fluids. So all thoughts and prayers for those numbers to improve and her healing would be greatly appreciated. My foot's hurt a bit this morning when I got up but that's not unsurprising considering how I had to do more than I should have yesterday. Last night dad fell asleep and I couldn't rouse him until I was nearly done with all the nightly chores, by that time it felt like there was a hole in my heel. Needless to say I was in a lot of pain and struggled to sleep. I finally slept around 5.30 but woke at 9.30am. Still I was so exhausted I slept most of the afternoon. I am sure I'm gonna get in trouble for this but---I came up with a solution for how mum and also I can recuperate in the living room--with puppy. I helped dad move the sofa forwards and we've created a barricade that divides half the room for the puppy and Dad and the other half for mum and I. Both sides have a baby gate with a cat door but I'll remove the side mum and I are on for at least the two weeks I'm laid up for. Maybe by then we'll know if I can handle Melody more. (She listens to me best) But it removes the tripping risk for mum until she's a bit more stable. Anyway we've used furniture to block the room in half. The end table is light enough that dad can slide it in and out for him and puppy to get into that side from the double doors that lead into the scrapbook room and also out into the back garden. Since he has a baby gate on his side, he can get in and out into the kitchen for water for her or to do other things when needed. this solves a lot of stress to make sure she doesn't jump on mum--she's 41 lbs after all.

They did say the pain was normal--I guess especially since I probably shouldn't have been told to walk on it directly. The nurse popped her head in and said, she's only one week post op. That's when he said come back. Read above if you haven't :)

today's going pretty well. I had a little shopping spree so that lifted my spirits. I bought some things online from Michaels to keep the boredom away and will ask dad to get them tomorrow... and i bought two of those baskets. One bunny and the tulips :D

it is too hard to pick a favorite. I went through a few distinct periods of reading King's work. In the first one I think my favorite was Firestarter, or maybe the Dead Zone. I also enjoyed Christine, Pet Sematary, Salem's Lot, during that phase. Then I read a few I didn't like as much (the Stand, Misery) and stopped for a while.

Maybe ten years later I picked up From a Buick 8 and loved it. That started me on a kick reading several more of King's work, especially liking Hearts in Atlantis, Dreamcatcher, and Tommyknockers. I read a couple I didn't like (esp Bag of Bones) in that phase, too.

And as I mentioned before to you, my most recent favorite ones were Lisey's Story and Duma Key.

I seem to play for like 2 days at a time then poof for a week xP

I think the cat was just having a reaction to the steroid shot she got for her allergies that made her super sleepy. Since she's pretty much totally back to normal now, that was probably it. Or possibly the vet gave her some kind of tranqulizer to help her deal with the stress of being seen by a vet?

I'm just glad she's okay. she has to have 3 teeth pulled, that will be next week.

- looks like we're at opposite ends of the stephen king spectrum. i didn't like the tommyknockers or hearts in atlantis. i loved the stand and "it". misery was simply evil. i found dreamcatcher rather amusing, though. it seems you like his more intellectual works while i like his more horrifying ones. that's good, it makes for more interesting discussions. :D

- there is an achievement regarding scratchers? and scratchers give out flowers? o.O

the things that make me not like a Stephen King book - are usually the way he does romance (especially when it's happening during the main storyline - romances in flashbacks are usually fine) and the way he does demonic-type characters (like the ones in The Stand and It).

It is pretty accurate though that in general I like intellectual fiction better than horrifying fiction, so, I think you got me there! Good call.

I'm a little surprised you didn't like Tommyknockers, because you liked Salem's Lot and to me, Tommyknockers seems really similar to Salem's Lot. (monsters invade town, that whole thing)

- i'm not a big fan of his attempts at romance, either. they all seem to lack thatje ne sais quoi factor that makes them ring true. although what i like best about him is his ability to hold a lense up to everyday life. he captures it perfectly, in all other respects. it's as if he knows about all the secret and hidden things people do/think and drags it all out into the open.i didn't like the tommyknockers because they were aliens. right up until that revelation he had me, but once he confirmed they were aliens i was so disappointed. it seemed like a cop-out to me. interesting that you compare it to 'salem's lot. i can see the single similarity in that they overtook the town but that's where i feel the similarity ends. vampires vs. aliens = vampire wins hands down. lol i've never been impressed by aliens. with the stand, i consigned the god/devil issues to the back seat and just enjoyed the apocolipse. just like in real life, i compartmentalize what i read. makes books more enjoyable especially if i don't feel like delving into the god/devil issues presented. :D

Well I'm sure all of the commotion isn't fun but it does seem like you have it worked out as good as possible. And I do know what you mean about pain - my neck has hurt for several years but I rarely think about it anymore cause I've just gotten used to the pain. Kind of hard to 100% ignore foot pain though. :-(

Poor kitty and poor kitty humans! I hope the teeth extractions go well. A few years ago we had to have 8 of our yorkie's teeth pulled and it was stressful and stupid expensive. Then a year ago we had to have a wart removed that was in the corner of his eye. He's around 15 years old and still going strong although there's always something going on with him.

Starting an island over is such a grind in the beginning. Ugh! Although, maybe now that I'm not as AC dumb it might not be as much work.

- each of us had a turn trying to balance the load and none of us succeeded. i think that spin cycle is toast. we have to use xl loads because it's well water and it doesn't rince the soap completely if we use smaller loads. then we end up running a second wash or wearing itchy clothes. so we run the xl wash instead. :D

I wish I could say that our terrible days were behind us but that's really not the case. My foot's been hurting, which I suppose isn't totally surprising given that I needed to help move furniture last night, but we got a call at 2 that mum is in fact coming home today. So mum called us at 4.45 saying they were ready... I put dinner on and sat down because oh yeah puppy escaped earlier and I had to help move more furniture making my foot scream... Dad left at 5 and we had thought it'd be about an hour. 6.30pm Melody woke. I had no choice but to go get her. My foot is throbbing and I'm in so much pain but I can't go get water to take my pain meds. So 7 comes and Melody needs the loo but I can't take her and my foot is KILLING me in the air cast boot and I can't find a comfortable position to sit on the floor with. I wound up laying on the floor in the fetal position in near tears with my cast resting on top of the other foot--it was hella uncomfortable but the best I had. Mum and dad finally show up at 7.45. Only for mum to miss the step and fall again. We had to call EMS to come and help her stand up. Mum makes dad go to walgreens to get her rx and I stay outside waiting for them in my stupid cast while my foot is on fire. The ems had to basically make a body sling and sling mum into a chair so they could then help her stand upright. At that point I went and pulled melody on her led to the sofa so she wouldn't hit mum's surgical arm. Melody was so hard to restrain that it took all my efforts to keep her there and she hit my bad foot--the EMS guy had to come and help restrain her because her lead was wrapped around my arm so tight that I was turning purple and he was greatly alarmed.

Finally I had no choice but to put her in the scrapbook room, led still attached and hobble in great pain to my recliner. It was almost 9 before I got my pain meds and we got to eat dinner. I know I am hurting my own recovery and it kills me but there was no one else to help. Mum says she's okay and they did check her eyes so we don't really see any warning signs of a concussion. otherwise she said she didn't hurt. I guess we'll see tomorrow. I am beyond done. I'm worried I'm in too much pain and may need to contact my doctor.

hopefully it will be. I need some fun. -sighs- Her numbers were better and she was realeased. our saga continues at the top.

I do! I did it a few years ago, it's such a pain in the butt 😂 And I never bought any form user shops. I would wait the 5 minutes and do it at the scratchcard place for 1k a piece XD So it took me a long time.
