First time I did the random new thing and got a last year one.
This time I did same thing and now have a skeleton looking thing by my head, so looks like it worded for me.

Clicked the VIP link but it didnât allow for choice but thanked me for signing up.
Edit: Just went back in after over 10 mins and it then showed me all the choices so I was able to sign up for a new strain. Just was strange.

I choose happy. It first took me to subeta notice change page and when I try again it seems it work!
Paid for a random new one and got a random new one. So far so good!
Paid for 2022 Happy. I have a balloon with a roach hanging from it. Happy to say it appears to be working properly.

I signed up for Happy at around 2 PM, but I lost it and just had to sign up again :( I had been changing between skins to help with biting people, so maybe that had something to do with it - I had tried on a skin, then took it off, and checked the VIP again when I first signed up and all seemed to be working fine though. I only checked back in because I saw someone mention on the strain tracking thread that their infection hadn't taken.
Unless you sign up for a random one, it is not instant.

No, I know, but I went back to Gunner and it was just the sign-up screen again, as if I had never signed up in the first place. :( I double checked after signing up to be infected with Happy that it was this screen --

but when I came back a couple hours later it had reverted to the sign-up sheet.
I apologize! I just re-read your post and yes, if you put on a skin before the infection has taken, it tricks the system into thinking you got one already. Wait until the infection has started before putting on a skin.

That's ok! Alright, thank you <3 I had checked and it seemed to be working fine on the first try, but I guess changing it out so many times messed it up somewhere down the line. :( I'll wait for now, thanks again!
@/Coraychi i think changing skins before it takes hold can mess things up (possibly because it registers you as already infected from the skin)? that's happened to me in past years
