, (Pretty Girl!) Had to come by, tell you I’m Cooking Cajun today :D

Red beans and rice (with Andouille) /ok, so I took that out of the freezer LOL/ And left over ham in roux gravy (if I can get the roux cooking)

I had made the pork, because I was thinking bbq. But I never made the sauce. Then I watched something... ? ...I can’t remember what it was. Lol. But now I want Cajun food.

Then I watched Anthony Bourdain in Louisiana. And I thought. Mmm,mmm gravy/Roux. And Spicy ham in a gravy, simmering for a few hours. Come on.

Sounds like a perfect thing for this nice gloomy rainy day :)

(Plus I’m going to roast some tomatoes)

I haven't eaten much cajun food but I like everything - my stomach no longer cooperates though. :-P Have you ever made brisket? I never even really heard of it until recently now I see recipes everywhere for it. My cousin got married on Friday and she had barbecued brisket and it was really good!

Have we talked about turmeric before? Cause I'm totally into it! A few weeks ago I took fresh turmeric and fresh ginger and scrubbed them really well, put in the blender with some alkaline water and blended it really well and then boiled for about 2-3 minutes. (Just to make sure since I didn't peel it.) I had so much I had to freeze it in an ice cube tray and as I thaw it I mix a little liquid stevia in it. Then I've been putting a teaspoonful in my tea twice a day and it's so yummy!! And my aches and pains have been minimal so maybe it's helping?

I have to admit, I’ve never had Real red beans and rice (only time I’ve gone through LA, middle of night, and most we did is pull over at a rest stop and try to sleep, without the misquotes carrying as away) ;) But my beans/rice are D*&M Good! I didn’t make them as spicy this time (my tummy Too )

And the roux turned out SO Blasted Good! (Yes, giving myself a pat on the back!). But of course, I had to get a chair to sit there, so I could keep stirring it. Lol

DIANA! I bet FlyingKat has had some good brisket! So Good! Texas Brisket! Used to live in a little trailer park (only 5 trailers) but during the summer, almost every weekend, a couple would cook a brisket. Man, that stuff was so yummy.

Heh just like Texas ribs. I still dream of a place I used to go to, that had the Best ribs! (Don’t ask me the name now....heh, don’t remember) Hole I. The wall. But they were only open 3 days a week. (Fri, sat, sun)

, Turmeric is good for the heart and high blood pressure. I use it a lot also. (Never really notice the flavor of it)

Interesting, I don't think ive ever been to that hole in the wall, but we usually like to cook our own bbq anyways :P we do a PRETTY good job, tho we don't do brisket to often cause its expensive and you need like a BIG party to really make it worth while

I love the flavor of turmeric and I'm happy about health benefits of it - maybe I should start adding more... The great thing about turmeric as a spice is that it goes really well with both sweet and savory dishes. I put it in chicken all the time. But it's just as good in muffins or the like.

I've been making this coconut flour banana bread for a little while now - about 5 batches - and I made two of the batches with turmeric (the recipe calls for just cinnamon and vanilla extract, but I also put in turmeric and cardamom because I like those flavors with it and I'm the one eating it 😁 ) -- and I ran out of turmeric. So I'm going to buy a bigger thing of it and use more, I think!

I use turmeric a lot too. To be honest I really don't think it has much flavor. I just use it cause it's good for me.

Don't ya just love when you make something new and it turns out so yummy? I really haven't been cooking much lately. I still make all of my veggies but now that tomatoes give me a stomach ache it's not as fun to cook anymore.

It has a taste? :-D Guess I need to try it plain and fresh. When I eat it fresh I always eat it with ginger and that's all I taste. And I love cilantro. I used to know a lady who said that both her and her husband were "allergic" to cilantro and I would roll my eyes to myself - but I guess some people just hate it that much. And I've never heard of anyone having an issue with celery. 😳

brisket is just a style/cut of beef roast, it doesn't taste different.

Turmeric tastes a lot like ginger so that explains why! It's different enough that you should be able to tell but similar enough that if you eat them together you might not realize

As for celery, it's more that to some people it's nearly flavorless and to others it's quite peppery.
