Oh but pomegranates are SO good! That being said, I can not STAND grapes with seeds in. Blech! In Greek mythology, Persephone was kidnapped by Hades and taken to the Underworld. Her mother, Demeter, beseeched Zeus to get her back. Zeus declared that since Persephone hadn't tasted the food of the Underworld, she could return. As she was about to leave, Hades offered her a pomegranate -- the symbol of marital love -- and she ate a few of them. (Tradition varies as to the amount, either six or three.) So, Zeus declared she'd have to spend three (or six) months in the Underworld since she had eaten three (or six) of the seeds. Her mother, goddess of the harvest, mourns for the three (or six) months her daughter is gone and that's why we have winter. So, there you go. Pomegranates are simply irresistible! (That was from memory, so don't quote me on it.)

Is a beautiful Autumn Saturday, currently making repairs in my bathroom. Just stopped for lunch and a coffee. Had to pop in and show face "PUKANA"! I saw a mention of food/Fruit? My huge Feijoa tree is dropping it's Fruit. Delicious!

(This is Gypsi; I changed my username). I had to look up feijoa, too! What kind of flavor does the fruit have? Can you compare it to anything? One of the photos I saw made it look like it's scooped out of the skin like a kiwi. I only learned a few years ago to scoop out kiwi. When they were first introduced in my local stores, there was no internet and no instructions, so we all just peeled them. And that is so not easy. I was shocked and delighted to accidently learn that they are easy to eat if scooped!

Mythos, by Steven Fry, is a really good refresher. He doesn't exactly retell the myths, but he puts them in his own language and it's fantastic. I just finished it this week and loved it. I listened to it on audio book (he reads it and he is fab) and it took me two months to finish as I just listened to a story or two at a time, but I really enjoyed his writing. He's written Heroes, too, which I also own, and Troy is coming out in June. He just does such an nice job telling the stories. Short on details at times, but otherwise, really good.

And he's BRITISH!! I may have to find the audio books just for that.

He is a fantastic audiobook narrator! I have the British editions of Harry Potter, which he reads, and all the Sherlock Holmes books that he reads, too. He does such a great job! He's my second favorite narrator! (Thanks for the tip about grapefruit spoons! I'll try that!)
