we basically went to Japan for Sumikko Gurashi, hahaha. We literally have a Sumikko Room in our house.

Two pings in one day for two very different announcements!

As some of you know, I recently had an amazing opportunity come up - I was awarded a full scholarship to go back to school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I've worked in the vet industry for almost 10 years now, the last 5 as a veterinary assistant, and this is an incredible chance for me to advance my career doing what I really love - helping kitties.

I started classes this past week, so I'm already in the throws of things. This means I'm working full time at the clinic, working for Subeta, AND being a student. It's a lot!

At this time, I do not anticipate it affecting the days I work on the queue or the amount of work I do. In my second and fourth semester, however, I will be doing very extensive externships. Luckily my job counts towards many of the hours of my externship, but not all. These externships are still several months out, but when they come I know I will have significantly less time. The lovely will be helping me out when I need it (like during these externships and during finals, that sort of thing).

If things are becoming complicated at any given time where I think there will be a delay, I will keep you guys up to date like I always try to!

Hi everyone - just a quick head's up. The week of January 7th, the queue will be done on Sunday the 7th and Wednesday the 10th rather than Friday the 12th. That's the only schedule swap I have in mind so far this month but I'll let you know if anything changes.

As some of you know, one of my cats has been pretty sick the past week. Unfortunately he is still sick and requiring a lot of nursing care. Oh Henry has developed trauma-related steatitis, or inflammation of the fat layers. Long story short, Henry has inflammation of his layers of fat in his right abdominal fat pad and his inguinal (inner thigh) fat pad. He is getting better day by day but it has been a very rough week with him as we try to manage his pain and discomfort. It could take several weeks to resolve, and in the meantime he is on a cocktail of anti-inflammatories and pain meds that require frequent dosing throughout the day. I might not be quite as available or quick to respond as I generally am while we continue to help get my sweet boy feeling better.
