Hey everyone! FYI, a few CW council members/mini mods/other staff members may hop in and help answer questions over the next few days while I work on the submissions. Also, my thumb is currently in a brace and typing is hard, so please pardon typos when I do respond :( Will get answers to you shortly!

IT'S A FREE FOR ALL, EVERYTHING IS ACCEPTABLE!

Skins are okay. Full face makeup is okay (but if it makes a nose or lips with it it needs to go in facial features, not regular old makeup). Head replacements are okay. Go nuts :)

I really can't say without an example (uploaded to the queue. Please do not post examples here).

We&;re not allowed to submit designer-named items on site or have references, but the old rules used to allow references to Cults - since cults are gone and were replaced by forum groups, are we allowed to have forum group related?

Yes, this is just fine :)

(et al) it has come to my attention that I should have made it clear that me shouting ITS A FREE FOR ALL should not be taken literally. Remember there are still some things not allowed (and these are in the rules). But skins definitely are.

Yes. This is of course subject to change if we get submissions we didn't think about and went hm maybe not that.

Sorry, this is like the 3rd ping from me today alone (are you sick of me yet?) but I added a new important Q/A to this that I wanted to make you all aware of!

Q. What do I do if the original artist of my CW is different from the recolor artist? A. Please include both information in your submission! For the "artist" fill-in, you can put either the original artist or the recolor artist (be sure if you are doing a half-price artist copy, you put the person that should receive it there). In the notes, please include BOTH artists. For example, you can put Cathii as the artist if they did the recolor, but the notes should say "Original item by boo, recolor by Cathii so we have all the information needed.

You put it into the NEW category it matches, rather than the previous. This is actually in the Transition guide!

You can submit recolors for both CWs on the old system and CWs on the new system using this tool. There’s no difference in process or form. However, if you are submitting a recolor of an old-system CW, please note that these were placed in a best-guess category when the data was migrated by an automatic script. If your item was not placed in the correct category by this script, please submit your recolor under the correct category - not the same incorrect category as the previous color(s).

I'm having trouble understanding exactly what you're asking, so here are two answers depending on what it is!

  1. If you mean an artist drew a CW for you and is now frozen and you want to do recolors - that would depend on your terms with the artist. It is NOT okay to color another artist's work without their permission.

  2. If you mean is it okay to take a CW submitted by a frozen user, do recolors, and submit it under yourself, the answer is no.

Also, it's worth noting that if a user was frozen for anything art or CW related, we will not accept any CWs drawn by them, even recolors. Staff cannot tell you why a user was frozen, so you would need to discuss that with the user outside of Subeta (if you are in contact with them I mean).

That's a great question, and it is honestly sort of a grey area. With those dresses, I would have considered them a recolor just because the edits are SO subtle. I'll add this to my future to-do list as something to try and give more clarifying examples of!

I'm going to add this to the FAQ today (along with a few other things), but! If a user self froze and has no warnings for art theft or was previously banned from CWs, it is okay to submit items by them (if they gave you permission to do so). If a user has been frozen for rule-breaking OR has any art theft warnings/an active CW ban when frozen, you may not submit items from them.

I'll give a detailed answer soon (at work!) But - the price doesn't change whether it's submitted as a recolor or a new item, so that part doesn't make a difference.

Thanks for your patience! The past few days of work were really rough.

I have been hemming and hawing about this because I don't think it makes sense for things like the sweaters holding different animals to NOT be considered recolors. It's hard to figure out a way to make it sound right in writing, haha. I would consider these sweaters to be recolor, because the basic shape is 100% the same - it's an 'internal' detail that is changing. I know this isn't particularly clear, but I'm hoping over the next few days I can get some visual aids to add to the FAQ that may better help define it.

IMPORTANT

I thought this was clear, but I'm concerned now that it's not. So I want to state it again and make sure everyone is aware of this.

If you did not draw or recolor an item, you cannot put yourself down as the artist.

I know some of you have permission to recolor items from other artists (like if they left the site, retired from CWs, sold you their .psd files, etc). In this case, if YOU did the recolors, you can put yourself down as the artist -- but you need to include in the submission notes that so-and-so was the original artist. Likewise, if another user recolored it for you, you may put them down as the artist, but the submission notes still need to clarify that so-and-so was the original artist.

However: If the original artist did the recolor for you, you CANNOT put yourself down as the artist just to claim a lower-priced artist copy because they are not on site.

If you have been doing this, please stop. If you are thinking about doing this, don't. If you've done this and plan to keep doing this and we find out, you will receive a warning. Falsifying the artist information is not allowed

The artist listed on the item must have had something to do art-wise with said item. Even if the artist has quit the site or is frozen, if they did the artwork, you don't get their copy. In the spoiler tag are examples of what is and isn't allowed.

SPOILER (click to toggle) - drew a custom item for and then decided to quit the site. However, is still doing recolors for off-site. must still list as the artist, even if has quit. This is acceptable.

  • drew a custom item for and then decided to quit the site. However, has told they can do recolors of the item on their own if they wish. recolors an item themselves. They submit it with listed as the artist, and in the submission notes state that did the original but gave permission for them to recolor it. This is acceptable.

  • drew a custom item for and then decided to quit the site. However, has told they can do recolors of the item on their own if they wish. has do a recolor. They submit it with listed as the artist, and in the submission notes state that did the original and did the recolor (with permission). This is acceptable.

  • drew a custom item for and then decided to quit the site. did not give permission to do recolors. does it anyway and lists themselves as the artist. This is unacceptable and can result in an art theft warning

  • drew a custom item for and then decided to quit the site. is continuing to offer recolors off-site for . However, when uploads a recolor, they list themselves as the artist to get the discounted copy since doesn't play anymore. This is unacceptable and will result in an item denial. If it happens again, it will result in a warning.

Actually, per above, it IS okay for you to list yourself as the artist in this case...

If anyone has any advice on how to make this clearer, please tell me, because I'm really not sure how else to word this.

in the very first post, you'll find some helpful links that include walking you through the transition from the old system to the new system. If you review those, they should help answer your questions!

you buy them from your own shop, yes. You can either set them at base price with a password buy them that way (that's what I do) or buy them at your regular sale price and just get the difference added back to your on hand CSC.

That is the kind of question we really can't answer until we see the item in the queue :) We don't do any pre-approval or reviews prior to an item being in the queue. You would just have to submit it with all the information included and let us take a look.

sobs I keep meaning to write something up about it and I keep not having the time. I should be able to get it done this weekend... but no promises. That being said, I think since your examples are going to actually be DIFFERENT every time completely, they should be separate items :)

Yeesh I'm the worst, I never answered your second question - but as you already know, it's fine to use the same item XD

- As long as you released the original item (so you're not just like... tracing someone else's item to move an ear), it is a visible difference, AND it is not being done to get around a previously-set item total (ie: you said there'd be 10, you sold 10 right away, and now you want to make a tiny edit to sell 30 more and make more money), it's fine to just move the one ear.

After a few incidents over the past few weeks, I feel the need to reiterate this:

CUSTOM WEARABLES NEED TO BE 100% ORIGINAL ART.

You may not use brushes, clip art, stock photos, etc as the actual art in either your item or overlay. This refers to ALL parts of items and overlays. Although you can use free use images for reference, it must be completely original art, AND you must include this information in your submission.

This is against not only the CW rules, but against Subeta's TOS, and can result in a ban from CWs, an official warning, or your account being frozen.

Please, do not do this. If you have done this in the past, please submit a ticket and ask it to be sent to be so I can review it with you.

you'll just want to clarify in the submission notes who drew what! So you can either list yourself as the artist if you did the overlay and put "item drawn by user so and so, overlay by me", or vice versa.

This should not be addressed here. I've edited your post. Please submit a ticket and we can discuss it there.
