Yeah, I'm so curious to see the new CW shop management! I know you've been making suggestions for the backend for years, I hope the new version takes a lot of your ideas into account. ^_^ There is going to be a literal flood of submissions when the changes drop, LOL. It would be nice if more users felt comfortable with offering more copies as a result of these changes, too.
At least December is not that far away! I look forward to seeing you get back into the CW game. ^_^ And yes, I still wan that copy when it goes into your shop, thank youuu
I'm so torn! I'm definitely going to be spending during BF, but the FOMO of the big December mytery is real hahahaha. I'll probably try to save a good amount too.
Yes, I am curious if there will be a sale at all for CW shops this year. It seems more like the mystery for December will be the new CW changes, BUT they may surprise us with both! :O The lack of extra CSC to play with for BF is a shame, though.
Now that we have a little more timeline info, what do you think?! (Sorry for the mega delayed reply looool). I love your idea of a pre-slotting sale at the new prices, that could be a really fun activity to tide folks over til next month!
So exciting to see those changes might be happening next month! 🎉
Now that we have a tentative timeline, I hope you're feeling better about things. BTW, if you need help submitting your lumi stuff, you're welcome to mail me to discuss. I have some extra CSC I could loan you - Lumi CWs are too important LOL.
Yes, it would be nice to see something small if you decide to do it! I think now that we have a tentative timeline for December changes, more people (myself included hahaha) are more committed to waiting before submitting anything new. I like 's idea of doing a pre-slot sale/event during BF, just as something fun to do while also waiting for the new prices to drop before submitting. BF is just an all around fun time on site. ^_^
Eek, thank you for your calm and patient replies to this thread, though I can understand if it made you feel frustrated and upset, too. I didn't intend this to be a place to drag you through the mud!! I was mostly curious to see if anyone would still be releasing new things before BF or planning some kind of similar event for December (with the idea that the special CW-related thing in December might be a separate sale, since I wrote this post before you posted your tentative timeline.) Thank you again for all the work you're putting into the site and CWs, I hope you don't think of us ungrateful - we're all just very excited to see the final result! :)
Yeah, I think it's usually a 25% off sale if I remember correctly? Sitting on your Lumi gift is a super easy solution, true. I have to admit, I'm like you...not too worried about WHEN the changes drop, as long as they're relatively soon. I'll still be submitting my Lumi stuff at some point I think, even if it costs more (but since I'm an artist I'm privileged to have a lot of CSC to save up over the year, which I understand a lot of people can't do). I'm very excited about the update, the info we've gotten so far is really a breath of fresh air and I agree, there's going to be a flood of new releases when the update happens. XD
You have put a LOT of thought into how you're be treating CWs moving forward and I'm kind like still flapping my chicken wings LOL. I love pretty much everything you've said. I've never released a TON of stuff, but after the price changes go through it will be fun to release more personal colors/items that I might never have tried to slot for, because I thought no one would want them. Depending on how the new CW shops are laid out, I hope to be encouraged to keep more in my shop at one time too (I get a little overwhelmed with shops that have huge amounts of items, especially in the backend area.)
I will probably still submit some lumi stuff even if the price changes don't drop during the "soft scheduled" timeframe, just because I love lumi and I'm feeling extra. XD But even not, I'm also doing some Lumi events that aren't strictly CW-related and I look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve too! ALSO, I love love love your edit, I have been trying to be better about directly showing my appreciation to CW releasers too! I hope it becomes a more common thing to drop a comment or whatever when you buy something from a CW shop just to show your support. ^_^
PS. Since I'm hella late with this reply and has posted the list of new prices, have you done any more thinking on the profit margin aspect. I guess right now I'm assuming most people will still go for the usual 200 CSC profit, but I've been thinking about doing some kind of pre-release discount for people in my group, with the final price being a little higher in my shop later (since I like group participation/threads). Still brainstorming that!
Yes, I think now that we have a soft launch estimate, most of us will be holding on to our submissions until early-mid December at least. posted above about an idea of doing a pre-slotting event this month as a sort of BF sale alternative, which I thought was a fun idea. A big new year's event would be awesome! Kind keep the fun going all the way through December and into January. ^_^
Yes, BF is a huge deal and I can understand simplifying the process a bit this year. I am wondering if there will be a sale in December alongside the release of the new prices, though the new pricing will basically offer BF-level prices without a sale!
BTW I'd love to donate some CWs to your event! I have some stashed in my vault/sp shop that I could contribute if you're interested. ^__^ I remember the event from last year and it was awesome!!
Ahh yeah, it's going to be a struggle to hold back during BF (also have a lot of vanity/delish stuff I need hahahaa) to make sure I have some CSC for playing with in December. Splitting the two events is hard! XD I do hope, though, that with the cheaper prices and everything else that's coming with the CW update, that more users will consider having more/unlimited copies of items in their shops so maaaaaaaaaaybe if I run out of spending money in December I will still be able to pick up some new releases later. :p
Yeah, I kinda get removing the BF CW sale because there's already a lot of strain on the site during BF and also because prices will be cheaper/basically sale price next moth, but the losing the BF profits does sting. BTW I have been hoarding CSC this year so if you need some extra to help do Lumi stuff please let me know! I'm happy to loan you some CSC because Lumi is the happiest time of yearrrrrrrrrr! 🎅
Again, not 100% set in stone but since I'm fortunate to be the artist of 99% of my releases, I personally am thinking about 50-100 csc profit margins.
Maybe my opinion on this would change if artists weren't forced to swim in csc with commissions, but I really am not looking to make more csc than I already know what to do with. I just want to break approx even. My goal is more that I just... want to see people enjoying my items at this point? I think we've all also had that person who contacts and asks about x item and it's retired or gone and... it feels bad man. =/
So I'm thinking 50 csc profit on items 200-300, and probably 75 csc profit on 350, with maybe 100 csc profit on 400. I personally don't do a lot of background items so I won't think I'd be releasing a lot in the 400 price category. Maybe if I could grasp how to draw them in such a weird shape, I'd do them more shrug
I'd just like to make most of my money back. If I make more, sick. lmao. The more accessible though, I feel like the better at this point. I've been getting a lot of purchases in the last 3 months seemingly at random for old and new items in my shop, it's been a surprise lol. I really don't need or want to be csc rich.
[edit]
Also I just finished getting most of my files ready. Everything saved properly, all item names / descs / and notes ready too. So excited. :)
Definitely feeling a little more comfortable about things. I have a great fear of the unknown........ But it honestly sounds like things are starting to move along behind the scenes so I'm pretty happy about that
As for the presale thing I'm actually going to go ahead this weekend and do that special preslot sale on a couple things that'll run until changes go live so I'm excited to get that going! I absolutely think it'll be a great way to get some nice hype going.
I'm looking forward to black Friday, as it will be my first one and I have no idea what to even expect when the time comes. So, i'll be looking forward to it and any news with the info would be nice too.

Yeah, I'm really hoping since the coding is changing so much and they're building things to work on the new site that we'll see a much more dynamic backend. I really don't want to keep retiring things but it's just unrealistic to keep it all in my shop with the way it works now.
I apologize if you've already answered this somewhere else, but you mentioned above that if it was just changing cw prices it could have been done ages ago. Why not just change cw prices before the other changes are finalized? That way people won't feel like they have to hold onto designs, and you guys won't have to feel rushed on the other changes since the pricing seems to be the big thing everyone is most concerned about. I'm sure it wouldn't be overly difficult to alter just the pricing on the current cw system. And sorry if this involves stuff you can't discuss with us.
Because there was no point in just changing prices for an extremely outdated system. Nothing with the way CWs work overall has been updated in 9 years. It needed to happen, and it's better to roll out the changes all at once.
We aren't feeling "rushed" to do anything. We're working this hard and this diligently because we want to. We have a whole huge list of things we want to keep implementing as time goes on, so we aren't forcing ourselves to do every little thing right now before launching. But we needed a new, more efficient system to coincide with price changes (because lowering prices with an outdated system really isn't sustainable in the longterm).
Doing things this way has allowed us to concentrate on the entire system, since I'm more "free" to do so without having hundreds of submissions to go through. And people may be most excited about the price changes, but I've seen quite a bit of excitement about other things we're creating as well. I think the majority of users have been happy to wait as long as they see we're making progress.
Thank you for your kind reply! I know it's definitely not what you intended, and like I said, I appreciate the topic and being able to see different ideas and peoples' thoughts!
The only thing I hate is a LOT of us bank on making csc in our shops during Black Friday and now we’re all kinda screwed over majorly for our plans.
But at the same time it is our own fault for assuming we’d have cws in the Black Friday sale and I get when they’re changing it this year. It sucks but it makes sense.
That being said I’m super excited for price changes and will be ready to get a TON of stuff on-site once it goes live :) I may have too many files though xD
So here’s to hoping it goes smoothly and it’s not too stressful on staff transitioning it over... Cause let’s be honest this year sucks for all of us. We could all use some good holiday cheer, staff and users alike.
I didn't mean to suggest that it was a long term solution. I really only thought it would be a short term solution to get people into submitting cws again since lots of people are hoarding designs, but I understand your point that it's better for you to not have people submitting hundreds of cws :)
As for excitement, I'm most excited for the facial feature cws. I personally never thought cws were overpriced on the submission side of things.
- I feel better-ish. I just have a lot of issues going on right now with real life and Subeta. And it's all just a cess pool of disappointment. I'm sorry I commented on this thread to begin with. Right now, I'm thinking about just getting all my CWs in the queue once the prices lower and then peacing out from Subeta for a while, if not permanently. Sorry for loading that in this post, but I'm trying to be honest with myself and other people for the first time in a long time.
