Chapter 4 check-in! Will try to get in something later

I've had a lot on my plate the last couple days so I apologize for the short replies!

"The chef?" Andrews stifles a yawn and shrugs, "Seems like he's worked here a couple of years."

"Has someone been harassing you?" Officer Snow looked sympathetic, "I'm pretty sure we'd need to subpoena the cell phone company for that. Unless you have a good enough idea of who's sending them. With a good enough argument I'm sure one of the detectives could get a judge to sign a warrant for their phone. Then they just have to check their usage history."

"A woman?" the Detective gives her a weird look, "No, he's definitely a guy. The autopsy would have picked up on a secret like that really quick."

"Exes?" he takes a grateful sip of coffee, "Don't think there was anyone like that hanging around. "

"Oh I don't know about a fortune..." the officer frown a little, lost in thought, "I think his grandmother was in character of that Bird Sanctuary but she wasn't rich or anything. I couldn't really tell you about the other grandkids though, I'm sorry."

"Oh I don't really know too much about the grandkids, I'm sorry," Officer Snow replied apologetically, "But I'm pretty sure none of Miranda's exes were seen anywhere nearby today."

"As I'm sure you're aware this is an ongoing investigation. I can't exactly give out information concerning it," Detective Fields answers with practiced ease. A line she's used countless times. Her expression softens a little, "I will say we have some of the same concerns you've presented to us and we are looking into every possible lead."

"Unfortunately there's not a whole lot TO that boy's past," Guzzling coffee, Andrews immediately appear at least a little more amicable, "Strait outta highschool he became his grandmother's full time caretaker. Never even had a real job. Shame a kid like him, gone before he had a chance to really live."

"Huh? Oh yeah I overheard some of investigators say that weirdo chef's name is Richie, eh, Bengs maybe?" he looks puzzled, "Huh, no that doesn't sound right."

Detective Andrews frowns for a moment. Even to his sleep deprived brain that treads a little too close to giving up important case information.

"Well I can't tell you what we suspects down there," he finally answers with a shrug, "But samples have been sent to the lab for spectral analysis to determine the material."

"I think the only troubles your friend is having right now are the... present ones," Fields doesn't elaborate. She doesn't have to. This whole day has been nothing but troubles, "I think you were referring to the scrapbooking materials on of the investigators stumbled across. It doesn't seem to have much bearing on the case. Your friend had cut the top off one and decorated it with stickers. Seemed celebratory if anything. Might have been related to how she met the victim. Now if you'll excuse me. Break time's over."

"Scandal or not they probably didn't want to be seen leaving that room. Which means they must have been known around here..." he pauses to take a swig of his coffee and takes a moment to squint at his questioner, "Don't I know you?"

"Well I don't know the man personally so I can't speak for changes in temperment but I think getting dragged down to the precinct for questioning would make anyone grumpy'"

Outfit Not Found

Richie Bengs.. Richard Bengs.. Richard.. Banks? Like Wolf?? A million thoughts all rushed through Rey’s mind at once. There’s NO way..

She bid farewell to Officer Snow and wished him luck with the rest of the investigation, trying not to seem too suspicious as to let him know he may have given away information about the case. As she walked back around towards the gardens her brain was overloaded with possibilities. And what a perfect time for her to overhear a few of her fellow guests discussing theories of their own. Rey only caught snippets of the conversation: Wolf had seemed annoyed when someone brought up Richard in conversation. A text had distracted Wolf while he was playing games on Miranda’s phone. The same phone was found, smashed, with the last text preview showing a big, glaring, “I LOVE YOU.” She filed this knew knowledge away with the other things she knew. Wolf had excused himself in quite a hurry.. related to the text, maybe? Oh god, what if it WAS Richard?

Her mind jumped to something she’d seen while searching the closets of the mansion. That old ribbon in the pantry.. It had been covered in dust and flour, missed by the broom every time, but it was unmistakably a pink ribbon in a very strange place. After all, why would Miranda have to go into the pantry with such a doting personal chef at her service? What if Richard and Miranda.. And the photo with Wolf’s first initial crossed out. Banks. Banks.. I wish we weren’t all told to stay at the mansion. I’d love to visit the Bird Sanctuary and see if anyone there knows about the rest of the family.

chapter 5 - more answers more questions

Things are becoming clearer. The pool of suspects narrowing.

As the sun sets on the mansion Detective Fields thanks you for your cooperation and your patience. You're told to go home for the evening. If you're from out of town you'll have a comped room at the local inn.

Before leaving the Detective hands you a business card. It has a direct line to her desk. If you think of anything, give her a call.

You have all night to mull over the events of the day. Think over all the information. Every clue, every suspicious instance.

The following morning you decide to pick up your phone and give the Detective a call.

One of the 'suspects' you've thought of a question you think the police NEED to ask them.

The five suspects are of course;

Miranda, the hostess Nicolette, the sister Belladonna, The aunt Roland, the gardener Richard, the chef

Some have been revealed as more suspicious then others, but they probably all know something. Even if you're certain someone isn't the killer, they still can provide valuable information.

Tell the Detective who you think she should approach with what question.

You can pick one question and one person.

chapter 5 check in

Miranda phoned the detective but the call went to voice mail. Frustrated, Miranda nearly yelled into the phone "Ask the cook why he was carrying a boning knife when he is clearly the pastry chef and has no business with knives at all",

Originally, Liliana and Miranda had planned spending the night together in the grand house. Fortunately, Liliana knew this village like the back of her hand and quickly took lodgings with an older land lady she met before.

Her boardinghouse was furnished in Scandinavian style, light and spacious. Liliana sighted with pleasure when she plunged into her personal hot tub, gazing in abstraction.

Pondering all the information she had now concerning the criminal case, she felt that one suspect enmeshed in the ongoing wasn’t thoroughly questioned. She wrapped up herself into a fluffy bath towel and went into the living room to take up the phone.

„Good evening, Detective Fields!“ she greeted the investigator, unsure if she could bother the detective with her idea.

„As a hipster, Roland is always cool without affected by the circumstances and he always understands non-common ideas. He works together with Richard all along. Perhaps, Richard told him something that he didn’t judge at the time and what would look now suspicious in the light of the new insights?“ Liliana asked. „Perhaps he even knows if Richard and Wolfram are related or which terms they stand on“ she reflected, knowing Roland wouldn’t question weird behavior at all.

Chapter 5 check in… I live in Minneapolis so unfortunately this story, as awesome as it is, can't be my priority right now :(

After making his way home, Garrin fell asleep quickly and had strange dreams. Garrin woke with a start from his bed and had a sudden epiphany. He immediately called Detective Fields. She answered her phone, which was shocking to Garrin. "This is Detective Fields, how can I help you?" her voice sounded a bit tired, as if she'd not really slept well either (or she was tired of all the guests who were probably pelting her with questions).

"This is Garrin, we spoke yesterday, if you remember. I had a sudden idea and thought I should run it by you." The Detective made a noise as if she really heard him but offered nothing more. "Well, we talked about the cook, Richard, and some of his motives and clues leading to him. I was having the strangest dreams about roses and chefs chasing gardeners with knives..." Garrin trailed off after realizing that he was probably sounding a bit strange.

"At any rate, it occurred to me that the knife under the pillow in the bedroom is simply a ploy to throw you off, to set her up. Really the best bet would be to get Richard all riled up as he seemed rather intense and a bit strange when I saw him - very distracted, if you catch my drift. So it might be easy to get under his skin with a few well pointed questions meant to get him offended."

After a brief pause to take a breath, Garrin continued. "I think you tell him that Miranda never loved him and absolutely abhorred him. Let that sink in and then ask him why he showered such an undeserving person with cheap gifts of necklaces of roses? Why did he waste his time." Garrin nodded, even though the detective was not in the room. "Yes, I think he'll get quite upset about that and even if they were not having an affair, he'll blurt out something about Wolf."

A moment of silence passed on the line. Garrin almost wondered if the signal had been lost. "Alright, thank you Garrin. I'll see if I can get some time before he Lawyers up." Detective Fileds said and then hung up.

Chapter 5 Check In - another stinking migraine. But this is such a good story! I'm so excited to see who the murderer is.

Rose had a surprisingly decent night of sleep at the inn she was put up in by the Vetan PD. Normally when you have a room comped, it's pretty terrible. Rose's dreams allowed her some time to think about the events of the day. When she awoke, she picked up the phone and dialed the number on the business card that Detective Fields had left.

"Yes, good morning, Detective Fields. Thank you to you and your department for the overnight room accommodations. I was thinking that it may be helpful for you to have another conversation with Miranda, specifically asking her about her relationship with Richard, the chef."

Even though Detective Fields had told them they could leave a few guests had wandered back to the area of the deserted party, Ashalind included. She figured she'd see if any of the food was left before heading home, her stomach compelling her rather than a craving for company. She wandered slowly, digesting all the snippets of conversations between party guests, picking up other clues, but ever cautious as to whether it was based on gossip or if it sounded legit. She wished she could go back into the house and explore further but figured she'd be pushing her luck.

Finding not much except crumbs left of Richard's delicacies and a now much dwindled crowd, Ash finally set off homewards, trying to sort through all the events of the day, and hoping Miranda had support around her.

Finding it hard not to continue to try to make sense of the day, she had an uneasy night, not enjoying her usual evening routine. She slept restlessly and when morning finally arrived she was fed up of dwindling on one question that she had kept coming back to. Finding the card in her purse from the day before, she resolutely dialled and waited.

"This is Detective Fields" she'd picked up after only a couple of rings, her voice clear and efficient.

"Good morning Detective, this is Ashalind here, one of the guests from yesterday's party. I'm sure you've got a busy day ahead of you but I hoped I could have a moment, I promise I'll be quick. It's relating to what happened yesterday" Ash fiddled with the spiral phone cord as she spoke.

"Sure. I've got a few minutes before a team briefing" there was the soft sound of shuffling papers in the background. Fields then prompted "Have you some more information on the case?"

"Just an idea really. I'm sure you've got a firmer grasp on all the facts than me and I feel a little foolish giving you such a suggestion, but I can't stop wondering about a few things. If you're conducting any interviews today, there was one thing in particular that I keep coming back to. If you remember, I'd found the Save the Date cards in the conservatory, and from a few things I heard from the other guests yesterday I can't help but think Richard might have been the one to leave the smudged graffiti. Maybe that would explain why he was late in putting the final touches on the food for the party...anyway, to that end I thought it might be pertinent to ask him what his feelings were towards Miranda - is he in love with her?" by this stage, the phone cord was properly tangled around Ash's fingers and while she paused to try and shake free, the Detective replied.

"I'll be meeting with a few people throughout the day yes, so I'll certainly keep all of the evidence in mind. I appreciate the call Ashalind, was that all? I'm afraid the briefing is about to start" Ash could hear a lot of chatter in the background, Fields must have joined her colleagues as she listened.

"Thanks for your time Detective, that was my main query. I'll let you get back to detectiving, ahh, detecting? Work?" Ash facepalmed, clearly it was time for coffee. "I hope the investigation goes smoothly"

"Thank you, me too." Fields disconnected. It sounded like she was smiling, hopefully she could look past Ash's brainfart.

Taking a clearing breath, Ash turned her thoughts towards breakfast, She wondered what other information would come to light...

((TLDR ask Richard if he's in lurve with Miranda)) ((edit~ lol clearly i can't keep things short and sweet, OR write things quickly apparently seeing as mine and mayla's question are pretty much the same, which i didn't see until i posted >< oh well i'll keep as is, maybe Richard and Miranda will both tell us their sides of the story ;) now i'm off to bed XD))

Beryl lays awake stumped by who could it be. Wondering if it was the aunt, the sister or if the chef finally lost it.

"I wonder what will happen next"

Beryl wondered... so many knife wounds means it was really emotional. "Is Richard related to wolf... and is his love for Miranda, and wolf loving Miranda the reason Bella is jealous?"

Beryl called the detective. On the first ring the detective answers "Hello?"

"Hi, uh it's Beryl... I've been wondering have you questioned the Miranda's sister about Richard, Wolf and their relationship with Miranda?"

The detective sighed...
