So during this strange time of lock downs and able to barely go to a park near you, are you doing anythi g to help your local companies where you can?
I'm buying crystals from a shop owner who lives around the corner from me. It makes breakong my addiction tough, but shiny crystals <3 I order meals from non chains. We have a couple bomb af food places. If I can't buy anything at the time I pass on the word of what some companies offer. Many offer nice deals for placing online orders for pick up or delivery.
I know that not everyone has extra funds right now or all the time in the first place. But if you do what type of companies have you supported during this down time so hopefully when we can semi go back to normal these will still be here to enjoy?
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
There is a bubble tea place not too far from me and I try to pop in a couple times a week if I can. The staff are always so nice and the drinks are amazing!
I'm trying to go to small businesses for takeout/delivery, and any potential online orders/curbside pickup (ie; cat food, pet supplies) as much as I can, and tipping extra when I get the chance to.
Yep, trying to. About once or twice a week my partner and I get takeout from one of the many local restaurants around here. We usually do curbside pickup, though once in a while we'll use doordash if we're feeling lazy lol. Either way, we always tip like 30% minimum. It's been really hard for workers, and my partner and I are fairly fortunate despite the circumstances, so we spread that around where we can.
It's been a little harder to support local grocery stores, though. Most use instacart instead of their own delivery services (or don't bring stuff to your car for you), and instacart workers are striking for better protections and pay. We don't cross picket lines, so we haven't been shopping at local stores that use instacart.
Jealous! I want bubble tea and sushi soooooo bad!
I only just barely heard of instacart. Only because my sisters friend started driving for them. My sister thinks she wants to do it but I warned her she would have to have someone watch her kids if she did it since many delivery/ driving type jobs don't want or allow anyone who isn't the driver or paying customer to be in the car on an active run. I honetly have no experience with services like this. If a place offers delivery or drop off already I utilize it. Like how pizza hut does or walmart with their online pick up. Otherwise I've never been shy about going to get my own things.
But I'm happy to hear about you guys supporting what you can :) I got a pick up food order and it was busy with people calling in orders and 6 people waiting to get their food. But it was such a good dinner and right now they practically are giving double portions out.

A bit. I've ordered from some local restaurants a couple of times since this began using Skip the Dishes. I'm also planning on placing an order for pierogies from a local restaurant soon.
I would love to get a fruit slushie from local place but they're not doing delivery and I'm def not going to go out just for that, lol.
Might end up getting giftcards for some places, too.
I've been ordering from local restaurants to support them when I am hungry for a bite. As for grocery shopping, I'm careful of what I buy online (even if it's a little more expensive!) and try to avoid produces and food made from elsewhere than my country and province.
I ordered some food from a local brewery/restaurant yesterday, but admittedly, we've mostly just been cooking at home instead.
I also ordered some books to read from bookshop.com to support some of San Diego's local independent bookshops in the area as well.
The weekend before everything closed up in my state I went to a plant/life style store and bought a plant. The following week they closed and were offering care packages in which I got one. (it had like sage, candles, crystals, soap, lotion, and 2 little plants in it). I also ordered a plant from a nursery. Other than that I was going to a cafe near my work place. I only work 2 times a week now, so I haven't gone too often. I also collect crystals, my dealer has been having Facebook live shows. I tune in to support, but I haven't bought anything. I need to see crystals and minerals in person.
But other than that I have been strict with my spending.
Nice! I'm happy to hear about all of this :) I'm trying to suport food places right now since I can't rationalize spending right now. In the middle of trying to move and so unless its food the safer bet is to not spend in case something comes up.
But after moving I'll be looking for things to decorate or upgrade my storage options and hopefully some people will have these types of items for sale. Even if not a shop helping someone else in the community with cash in hand is a good thing to do always.

It's the best way to go, at least for me. I have really bad social anxiety, so I don't want to be going to a place like Vons to get my groceries when there's a bunch of other people around me, and there's been a lot of people near me that have been defying quarantine. There was a huge party near me just a few days ago. But knowing a bunch of local places, I usually get higher-quality stuff and I can reduce my exposure. I've been doing social media for some local businesses to help them generate business as well.
All stores are closed in Romania. And restaurants. :( I should go to the farmers' market. My fiance doesn't really like those because of having to speak with people. I hope to drop by tomorrow before they close, to buy a cabbage. I want a cabbage salad for 2 weeks now -.-
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
Trying but there aren't any non-chain grocery stores around here and public transit has been pretty much shut down. The little donair place within walking distance finally reopened so I got dinner from there earlier this week. I no longer have a job (and it currently feels like I never will again) so I don't have that much free money right now.

The farmers' market has been such a big help in getting what I need during this pandemic. It makes me happy to support local farmers directly and shop outdoors. I’m grateful to have access to such high quality products.

I personally am boycotting amazon / am anti-corporation and try to buy local when i can been buying beer from two local breweries that i discovered in my neighborhood. slightly more expensive than big brands but local and way better in quality

I've been buying things from etsy stores (such as a future purchase a pride flag) Recently bought some hand inked shirts from a instagram artist and they're the cutest!
Even before all the lockdown stuff, I've tried to support local shops when I can. There's a lot of local coffee shops I like to hit, though most are kind of out of the way and hard for me to get to without a car so I don't get to them as often as I'd like. And there's a local bread shop only a couple blocks away that I like to go to when I can as they make some really delicious bread varieties (ngl, I will eat their garlic cheddar bread plain with nothing on it because it just tastes so good...though it does make great sandwiches too). There's also a couple of local yarn shops that I don't hit too often as I can't usually justify paying $25+ per skein of yarn for the items I make but that occasionally I'll pick up yarn from when my wallet allows it and if I have a specific project (like a fancy shawl or something) in mind. Not to say that the yarn is overpriced, because it's not, I just make a lot of stuff like plushies that I wouldn't necessarily want to use expensive wool yarns for. Other than that there aren't too many local places that I shop. I need to hit the farmers market more in the summer, but the only time I could maybe consistently get to it is early on Saturday morning if I can manage to drag myself out of bed really early before work. I hit Etsy a lot for stuff too, depending on what I'm looking for, though I generally try to stick with small stuff like bath and body goods and sometimes nail polish on there.

Nice jobs everyone! I know many places here had to close down either permanently or on a until things are stable basis. So many of my local haunts and food spots aren't around. I do still have plenty of options being in a big city, but some just aren't as fun as they once were. It is farmer market and craft fair time in my area and some of the shows have resumed for local music. Support doesn't always mean buying/money transactions and I'm so glad places survived all over.
