Happy Pi Day: Bug Updates

Hi everyone! Pi Day is almost over, but I think I can make this post just in time. Just barely in time. Anyway, I have a couple updates to talk about :)

Shoutbox Updates!

Okay so... We've been looking into this, and it's... complicated. But I do have some good news: we will not be closing the Shoutbox entirely during Masquerade. Instead, we came up with a compromise that will allow you to still use the Shoutbox, while mitigating its effects on the rest of the website.

During holidays only, we will disable the Shoutbox sidebar widget, but the full-page shoutbox will remain open for all to use. When this happens, there will be a link to the full-page version in the sidebar widget for easy access.

We understand this is still not an ideal solution, and we are still working on resolving the Shoutbox's lag issues on a deeper level. I'll continue to keep you in the loop about that. <3

User Shops Speed Improvements

I have just deployed some user shops speed improvements. Most of the changes are behind-the-scenes: a lot of code has been shuffled and reworked in the hopes of making it a little more efficient, and reduce the rate of failure loading very full shops.

There is one change you may notice: the option to sort by price (when editing shop items) is no longer available. Instead, we've replaced it with a "View unpriced items" button which you can use to view all unpriced items in your shop. This is because, due to the way it worked, a full price sort was causing a lot of lag, and I had to reshuffle the code in a way that no longer allowed for it in order to mitigate the lag.

We have further updates planned for user shops that are aimed at further speed increases and improved functionality. I am also thinking about how I can bring back that price sort. These are involved changes though and some will require scheduled downtime. Again, I'll continue to keep you in the loop.

Cron Issues + High Score Payouts

Thank you guys so much for sticking with us through all those midnight reset issues. I know how frustrating all that was. At this point, I think the midnight resets are fixed. If there is anything that is still not resetting correctly, please bring it to my attention on this topic: [topic not found]

I am also aware that a lot of game high score payouts haven't been working properly for a while. This is a more involved project, but I wanted to reassure you that this is being worked on behind-the-scenes. Primarily:

 • I'm going to move everything from the old high scores tables to the new system.
 • I'm going to figure out what in the new system needs to get payouts, and make sure those automatic payouts are working.
 • I will also update the high scores page with information clearly stating what prizes you can expect for what, and when. It was brought up that this information isn't clearly stated anywhere official, so we will fix that.

Okay, that's all for now! Stay safe and have a great weekend.

Fun fact: has Pi memorized to over 150 digits. Odd flex but okay...?

Is "view upriced items" different from sort: Price = 0 ? Which one is easier on the shops server?

They are exactly the same. I just made it into a link so it's easier for everyone. Consider it a teeny tiny QoL thing :)

You can still filter by price; for instance, if you want to view everything under 1k sP, you would type 1000 in the price field and select the < symbol.

it would be even more helpful if we could limit the search parameters with a second directive - for example to ask it to show items >50000 and <100000 so we can find stuff within a certain price range, not just above or below one price point as it is now.

That's a great idea, and I will see if that is possible!

I wonder if anyone has had any trouble loading items into the autopricer since the update? Or is that just me?

This was a known issue - not just you - and we've just resolved it this morning. Please see this post (and topic) for more details.

Oof, how embarrassing for me. I totally messed up the link. I've just deployed a fix; it should be working now!

Hey everyone - We are aware of issues with the autopricer. I didn't foresee this issue and I apologize for the broken functionality. I am working on getting a fix out for this tonight.

As for the wardrobe, this is related to some major updates that will be elaborating on shortly. We do appreciate the reports and will address this.

For everyone's convenience, we will be communicating about the autopricer issues here: Autopricer not pricing

I'll be posting updates there, and if there continue to be problems, please also continue reporting on that topic. Thank you!
