I think it's going to be a boy. Come join us in we love to have you.
I love friends!!!
Congrats on finding out! c: How exciting for you. I'm going to guess that your baby will be... a girl!

Also wow, discussing people's gender identification or expression isn't being political. It's more than reasonable to bring it up in this instance, so long as discussion is respectful. It's about being a decent human being and accepting people for who they are. I'm certainly not trying to cause any negativity here myself!
Frankly, I don't appreciate you referring to this as politics. This is very personal and about people's very identities, and you dismissing that as mere politics just shows how absolutely soaked in privilege y'all are. This isn't discourse, this is us saying we're uncomfortable because we know first hand how damaging gender expectations can be to a child.
On the subject of unnecessary comments, y'all could have kept yours to yourselves too. Just saying.
Frankly I'm impressed still participated. I just straight up sat the week out and was a lot less friendly about it.
Nah, it's not semantics. Biological sex is also a social construct and the child's sex will be the same as their gender, whenever they figure out what that is. Knowing a baby's chromosomes or genital set up is almost entirely irrelevant for most aspects of life, including medical. There are only a handful of times doctors are going to need to know that, information to give proper care, and aside from those times, no one needs to know any of that for the kid to have a happy, healthy life.
Thank you and for being so understanding and patient with our discomfort and concerns. Gender is unique for everyone, including cis folks, and your experiences as cis women are important here too. Evalynn, you're doing something amazing and you're so enthusiastic about this, and I deeply appreciate that you're gonna love this baby no matter what developments crop up as they come into their own. Maybe they're gonna be cis and gender nonconforming, or maybe they're gonna be any number of trans identities with any number of presentations, or maybe they're gonna be completely stereotypical in their experience with gender, but you're going to love them and support them and encourage them to live their best life, and I am so happy for your future with this child.
I'm still sitting this week out, but that doesn't constitute and attack and I'm still wishing for everything to go smoothly for you through all of this and I'm still gonna keep up with new developments because I am excited to see you get to meet this baby at last!
I'm sorry for the drama in this thread, and I deeply hope it's behind all of us.

Whoa whoa whoa biological sex is NOT a "social construct". That is an incredibly harmful thing to believe. Biological sex affects many aspects of life especially in the medical field like prostate cancer, pregnancy, circumcision, menopause, menses, ovarian and cervical cancers, different syndromes, different infections, PCOS, hormone expression, and many other things. Here's a quote from the Wikipedia article on Sex Differences in Medicine: Sex differences in medicine should not be confused with gender differences. The Institute of Medicine recognizes sex differences as biological at the chromosomal level, whereas gender differences are based on self-representation and other factors including biology, environment and experience.
Again, this is NOT talking about gender. This is talking about the very real medical issues that people go through because of their biological sex and it should not be dismissed.
There is no Shepard without Vakarian
I think what was getting at is the fact that biological sex being a binary thing is a complete construct. There are specific body parts that people can have or not, theres chromosomal combinations people can have, and theres ways that secondary sexual characteristics can present that vary among people. The thing is all of these are independent variables.
There are people who fall outside of the expected combination of XX, having ovaries and a vagina, and having a body shaped mostly by estrogen, or the combination of XY, having a penis and testes, and having a body shaped by mainly testosterone. These people are intersex and last I remember are about 1% of the population (which is a pretty big number if you think about how big the population is)
The idea that one set of traits is male and the other is female is a social construct. Physical body parts are real and hormones are real, and those are things your doctors (or at least specialists like an endocrinologist) will need to know about. Although nowhere near enough studies have been done on how trans bodies work in general, so doctors often won't know much more than the trans people they treat.
(I haven't fact-checked myself here so my explanation of intersex people is almost certainly flawed in the details, please take any facts presented with a grain of salt if you're gonna repeat them)

For whatever reason, I had a feeling from the start it was a girl, but I didn't want to assume. Hubs and I really ideally want one of each, so we didn't care either way. I'm so excited tho :)
congrats~
as for the HA contest idea, i usually love getting in the wardrobe, i just haven't been getting in there as much lately in general. it's really up to you if you want to add some in, we'll be happy whatever you choose :) i've enjoyed how baby themed it's been so far, and looking forward to see what other challenges are coming up ^^ thanks again for hosting !
