I'm happy for you, but some of us put a lot of money into changing names, and hours into name hunting. I used to love doing it. Now there's no point. We're allowed to mourn what we worked so hard for.

I feel you. I just changed the names of 2 pets only a week or so ago and feel very ripped off. At the same time I have 4 pets whose names were not quite what I wanted for them but made do. So there's that. Most of mine will keep their Legacy names visible. I feel that there will be some pride in those. Perhaps having a pet with a good Legacy name will be the new requirement for adopting? Who knows.

Overall feeling sad about the change because I spent so much time and CSC on names of pets. Trying for some hope with a few whose names I can improve.

Query... so when you make a new pet now you won't get a legacy name?

In answer to your query... It's not something you can "get" for a name. Even if the name you choose is unique, only pets created before the change have the legacy designation.

guys I'm not saying you can't talk - I'm saying maybe don't say things like "creativity is dead now" and get so aggressive towards others because you're so pissed off. you guys have been looking like clowns with these tantrums, rather than adults who are understandably disappointed and upset about the decision. you're unnecessarily rude and overdramatic, trying to vocalize harshly in all the wrong places.

I get being unhappy about it. I don't get why you have to go out of your way to attack the site and other users.

[edit] Another point I'd like to make: how does not being forced to use alternative words/names kill creativity? most character creators aren't limited in that aspect unless they play a pet site - is my character any less creative by being named "Angel"? no because it's what I do with that name.

spent money is spent money - you got what you paid for and enjoyed it in the time you had it, therefore subeta as a business owes you nothing. and yes, it's fine to be mad about that. I'd be mad as hell too if unique names were my vibe. but like I said, you guys are looking for a fight.

thing that is also crazy is there is actually a thread up for people scrambling to adopt the legacy pets from the pound, yet some of those were ones that said so what if tou had a unique name everyone should have it stop being selfish and elitist like where does that make sense, its very hypocritical. It does feel a time of mourning. And no legacy name i believe is just attached to the old names before the change

I honestly see both sides, I really do. When non-unique names were first proposed, I was pretty against it. I didn't want to see it happen after I put so many years and $$$ into searching for names, waiting around for clearings, etc.

But then I read where people are coming from and realized that maybe it does just make the most sense for the type of pet site Subeta is. That doesn't mean that I think people are wrong for feeling upset about the change. I do feel a bit sad that the days of name stalking are done. But I am really optimistic that good things are to come.

Last post I'll put on here about this but this is where it started, so, I wanted to again say sorry to everyone my posts pinged, I didnt realize until the one time I posted, that it would do this. Also, I should have just posted a random thread elsewhere, and not brought it up in here, my feelings on the change. I didnt intend for the post to go further than the one, and I just blurted it out because with the new change, threads like this seem kind of pointless to me now, and I honestly really liked coming into them, as I said, and seeing all the ideas and creative ways around a lack of finding names, as I've had that issue, too. Anyway, I let mybeing upset take off in the wrong thread, esp when pinged and pushed by someone else, and I should have let it end there. Just wanted to say that and now done, sorry ❤ Thank you foe keeping this thread up and I hope it does manage to still get used for new ideas and spur new creative names, just as I've always enjoyed seeing it do.

Do you think users were sketchy for changing their pet names using CSC? In the old system, that was a requirement. It cost 500 CSC to change a pet name and 750 CSC to swap two names between pets you owned (and even more in the early days as mentioned below). In USD terms that was $5 and $7.50 respectively. This was money paid to the site, not to other users.

Do you mean the site was sketchy for making users pay to change pet names? Idk about that. I do know some people are upset about having to pay and how now all that effort and money seems to have gone to waste. But I also think it's a matter of perspective, and that unless you paid to change a pet name a very short time before the change occurred, you got what you paid for.

If you don't mean one of those things, then I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Maybe you can elaborate?

(And also if it's the second thing, it sounds like feedback you might want the admin to see, so I would suggest posting to this thread for best results and visibility. :) )

Oops, that was poor wording on my part. I didn't mean I was literally buying pet names from people. I meant I was paying to change my pets' names when there were clearings and names I liked freed up (before our current system, you had to use that hypnosis wand, which was 1000 CSC/$10 each, if I remember correctly).
