So with the new changes to pet names, I'm wondering how useful this thread will be, going forward. My initial thought is that there's not much point to keeping it updated from now on, but I wanted to get y'all's input. At the least, I'll leave the list up like it is now, since I think it's useful for inspiration.

I'd keep it up not only for inspiration but in case people want a legacy pet of a name listed here, maybe? c:

I was thinking, it could be cool to have a thread where people can help others come up with pet names and maybe list good options for different colors (for example, say someone wants to make an angelic pet but can't think of a name). Or they are looking to make a specific kind of character and have the idea pretty much sketched out but, again, a good name evades them (say, a baker or spy pet).

Just my two cents! I do think a lot of people probably wouldn't mind name help, it just might take a different form now.

I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. Legacy pets are only for pets created before the change. All new pets do not have legacy names.

I actually just tested this - there was a pet "Faith" in the pound that had been created today (id=5996002), and I adopted them and changed their name to "Love". It does not say Legacy Name: Faith underneath her name now.

I think it becoming an inspiration thread could be cute! I agree there is (a bit sadly) not much reason to maintain the lists otherwise.

Honestly I liked seeing the pings to these threads, I was curious to see who was adopting who, who had come up with what. The creativity of this sites pets is officially dead with this news :( prepare for the 50k Link's or 100k Ashley's tbh I know they said usernames aren't next but still sceptical of that. Anyway. I hope these forums become at least inspiration, that would be fun ❤

An inspiration thread sounds nice! I feel like that will also help with creativity - I have so many ideas that I’m excited to work on, and I’d love to share that with people, and see what others are working on in return!

Suuuuper bummed about the news too. 😐 Like for people who’ve invested sooo much time and money to get their pet names it’s just a killer of motivation to work on them tbh. It feels like a wasted investment

You two have very focused tunnel vision, only seeing what you want to see. My creativity, motivation, and drive to play the site was absolutely rekindled by names becoming non-unique and perhaps if you hopped out of your mopemobile, you'd realize I'm not the only user who has been here over a decade that feels like I do.

another person who thinks because they got what they wanted, that people on the other side should just be silent and clap in agreement. we are validated in our feelings. Good for you, having your creativity rekindled by lack of uniqueness in names. A lot of people (not even including myself), spent years building their unique pets, coveting and putting the work and time and effort into pursuing names, and now anyone can grab anything, it does seem a slap in the face. Try seeing the other side before you just call people out for being supposedly mopey. Its fine and great that people are happy, but a lot are unhappy and bummed, too, and people like you really need to stop acting like we shouldn't be just because you're happy. Its not a bad thing to feel bad about a lot of work and effort finding and obtaining names, and then having those same names handed over for pretty much nothing. But anyway, sorry to the thread but I was pinged so I figured I would respond.

I hope people will continue to use these threads for motivation and sharing actual unique names. I loved seeing them and actually purchased a pet slot in the last few months with every intention of looking to these threads for guidance, and I hadn't been quick enough to catch a couple lol but now I'm not motivated so I'd love to still see them ❤❤
