Hello! We've been quite busy with new content this holiday and we hope you've been enjoying all the new content and activities: like the user CW contest, wave 2 of Masquerade items, and THE RIFT! The flip side is we've had no time to do anything extra for sprint this week. (sorry!!!)

Since we've got your attention, a couple brief notices regarding THE RIFT:

1. This feature will be available all year round. It's not tied to Masquerade only.
2. Pets are not gone forever! (We're not that evil!)
3. The pet slot your pet occupied cannot be filled.
4. The transfer to [npc=the rift] isn't a normal pet transfer; your pet won't lose stats, etc.

These were mentioned in scattered staff posts / news comments, and I thought I'd compile them here so they are more visible and show up in Admin Posts!

And lastly, a quick update about our lag situation:

You may have noticed, while not perfect, it's improved significantly! There are still a few known issues we are trying to pinpoint, but right now the site is mostly stable.

Our servers are configured to automatically respond to latency issues (lag / cloudflare errors): We have been monitoring and tweaking this, and it seems to be identifying and responding properly on its own, though maybe a little slower than we would like. This is why you may notice a couple minutes of lag/504s, then it may get better on its own without requiring staff to manually do something.

If you encounter issues, you may report it on this topic: Timeouts, Error Codes (5xx), Lag | FIRST POST UPDATED 7/22 Please read the first post which describes what information to include, and please let us know if it clears up on its own. That way we can see a pattern of when/where it happens. It's important to include URLs if possible because we have a massive codebase, and if there is something causing inefficiency, this helps point us in the right direction.
