Hell Party Mashup
Outfit Not Found
This little Melanie wanted to throw the greatest party ever! She invited EVERYONE, she even brought out her best friends to see everyone... AND NOBODY CAME! Little Miss Melanie was so heartbroken, that while listening to Avril Lavigne through a stereo, she began burning the place down.
I have been here, and it's heartbreaking to know that nobody cares enough to come see you. My family came to visit, of course, but friends wouldn't come even though I went to all THEIR parties.

This song to me is about coming out of depression, and realizing that now you have to try and move forward, while not looking back.

Lol just realized I was missing this item for the HA I did
didn't even realize it existed anyways updated my old entry
Looking for these : x100
Who Will Save You Now I will protect you from the fire below It's not in my mind It's here at my side Go tell the world that I am alive
Those lines moved me the most... in my opinion, song's about finding inner strength to continue living while struggling but also finding strength/support from the outside. For me, that's Gismo... my hairless sphynx cat... who is right by my side every day but also cuddling my side as I write this :) Outfit Not Found
Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walkin' Outfit Not Found Standing up for one's self, high self-esteem
exhausted, reading disability kicking in, need to rest.
Outfit Not Found Leonard Cohen - It Seemed the Better Way (Official Audio) About questioning spiritual beliefs... choir used was male choir of the Montreal synagogue that Cohen attended as a child. More info... https://www.songfacts.com/facts/leonard-cohen/it-seemed-the-better-way
I wanted to do this one since I went to an exhibit about him at the Montreal Contemporary Art Museum. We often see him in a hat & glasses so I modified it for the HA... went for shattered window to represent shattered beliefs, but a glimmer of hope lighting the back (outside sources) & staff (internal). Made a wedding dress for convention but then breaking with convention with other parts of the outfit... no longer the mold of society.
all gift boxes have been sent at this point, if i missed you let me know ^_^
Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot lyrics Outfit Not Found Just because someone wants to try to bring you down doesn't mean they'll succeed. Positive esteem of one's self ;)
The Princess Who Saved Herself Private Outfit Not having to depend on others to "rescue" one's self... being in charge, positive self-esteem, being unconventional.
Praying - Kesha This song was about how she goes through so much and she fought through all of it, making her a person she is proud to be. Private Outfit
Oh hi! Didn't see you there.
I made another one, this time for Losing My Religion. I love your playlist, btw. Outfit Not Found
ETA: My grandma used that phrase a lot. "That boy's losing his religion over that girl." I've always thought it meant to express a very powerful emotion...pain or anger or heartbreak.
Thought I'd have another go:
Arsonist's Lullabye by Hozier Private Outfit The song is about a person's growing obsession to burn and conflict with inner desires and moral judgement. They eventually give in to become an arsonist for the thrill of committing destruction. Note on HA: It's sad that there isn't any molotov cocktail wearables around.
Thank you very much for the rain check you sent me! I forgot to reply sooner and feel bad about it! ^-^; and thank you for doing this raffle! It's pretty fun and imaginative :)
i'm so glad you guys are enjoying the contest!!
and you're right about the moltov cocktail... there are a few cws i wanna make if i ever get the money and now that's on the list 👀
i love both your interpretations of the songs! arsonist's lullabye that hit pretty much my same interpretation; the feeling of something monstrous inside of you you try to leash but find you can't. and i love that for losing my religion! i always heard it as a song about a literal loss of faith, also a complete loss of faith in a person ("i think i thought i saw you try" etc). i think that really works with your interpretation too though! i'm so glad you're enjoying the playlist!
did you see the newest additions? :o ive been OBSESSED with 7 rings, i'm making a different contest entry based off it.
come away to the water
Private Outfit
The song seems to be about a water creature that is trying to pull people in and drown them ... something scary and drippy. :D
(again, please let me know if i should not be using your group tag freely.) a little less than one week remains, and i added a bunch of songs to the playlist! there's now over 250 songs to choose from, many of which have not had their giftbox claimed yet :) get in while the getting's hot!
happy birthday c: song choice: Right Where It Belongs, Nine Inch Nails (it really wasn't a choice, nin is my favourite band. their music has always spoken to me. this song would be up there in my favourites as well) ha interpretation: re-reading the lyrics tonight gave me very 'dissatisfied/disillusioned 40s-50s housewife' kinda vibes, which was echoed by the organised piano with the guitar thrumming along underneath, slowly building and ebbing. you grow up to become a good little housewife who quietly and obediently takes care of the house with the white picket fence and the three children. she has everything she was told she ever needed in life, and yet it still feels empty. but she's afraid to break out and find something more satisfying, more herself. so she stays numb, she stays alone, and never tries to break through the mirror. she undertakes the supposedly peaceful chores in day-to-day life, but her mind is in turmoil. the cracks are starting to show. a deadness behind the eyes, tightness around the mouth. tense silences and bitten words. clipped strides and slightly burnt cake. who will she harm first, her family or herself?

I went with a very literal sense. This woman with a heart as cold as ice feels no remorse for what she is about to do. The knife in her hand shows her intent, while the bloody butterflies represent the thought process behind her closed eyes. I decided on the butterflies for the butterfly bruise skin instead of what I originally planned which was blood droplets on the HA.
Carmen Lana Del Rey (One of my favorite songs):
Outfit Not Found
To me, this song represents survival at its core. Carmen isn't doing the things she does because she wants to. She needs to. She needs to do these things so she has food, shelter, clothing... I have been here, so that's why this song means so much to me. I know what Carmen is thinking and doing. I know why she's doing it. The chains on her legs represent the fact that she can't get out quite yet, but she will. The tears show that while she doesn't want to do this, she must to carry on. Life is hard when you are poor. Really hard.

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - R.E.M.
Thanks for holding this contest, you have no idea how happy I was to see some R.E.M. songs on the list! :D R.E.M. has been my favorite band since I was a kid. My Subeta UN is actually a lyric reference to one of their songs. When I was in high school, I made it a summer goal one year to learn all the lyrics to this song. It was challenging, but I did it, and I can still sing it at almost twice the speed! ;)
I just tried to have fun with this one. My gal is so okay with the world ending, she's matched her clothes to the nuclear mushroom cloud. xD As far as I've read, the song was written as a stream of consciousness piece, after frontman and lyricist Michael Stipe had a strange dream about a party where only people with the initials L.B. were allowed in (hence the lyrics including Lenny Bruce, Lester Bangs, and Leonard Bernstein). To me, the song is about keeping your cool when things are falling apart around you.

I might make one for "Losing My Religion" later, just for fun, since I see that someone else has picked it already. ;)
