shoot trip them and bring them down to butt kicking level, or get good at throwing my shoe at their butts to get their attention.

I am the shortest in my family (lots of older brothers and sisters) but I found it an advantage at sneaking in and stealing hugs and kisses. I also used being small as an advantage against that little brat Bretton Jeffreys, my nemesis when I was a pre-schooler. I could use his taller size against him and I could tackle him into a mud puddle, wind up on top and have him covered in mud without getting too dirty myself. Tackling boys back then was sort of like getting hugs and kisses, only more violent, which made it fun.
