Yes stayed busy with the house.I started clearing the last bedroom out now.Carpet and underlay is going to fly out into the backyard soon :) A lot of things were taken out when they learned of the fire first thing.
The fire started in the attic area, which is made of wood. It could be an electrical short started the fire. But so nice, people/ companies have donated millions to help do the repair. But main problem is getting enough lumber from huge trees to replace the roof. Surprisingly the cathedral is about 800 years old , and survived war and other events.
I knew you had to be super busy in RL. When your done there can you create imaginary wood kitchen cabinets for me, LOL Gosh I sure wish!
Yeah all of the relics were gotten out I heard-thank goodness! At least the main structure is still standing even if it was gutted. I wonder how badly the fire damaged the interior stonework and statues or if they can be saved as well.
I think it's wonderful that so many companies and individuals have pledged to help with the restoration, but it's a shame that it takes something like this to make us pull together and get along. We can't get along when things are going well, what does that say about us as a species?

Wish you were closer to my place :) Yes it was 856 yrs old. Amazing gothic building.
There some pictures out already of the scorched inside.
It's a real heart breaker, but thank goodness that the exterior is still standing:)

I want cabinets made with wood, none of that pressed wood they charge an arm, leg and a quarter section of land for. I must have a lazy Susan! Loved them and got attached to them since I was 7 years old. We visited my Dad’s parents and I sat on the floor, and kept spinning Grandma’s lazy Susan.
I have a full set of oak kitchen cabinets in the garage. If i was staying longer i would install them/sell them.
I truly hope it was just an accident. I am disgusted by the thought that someone would damage such a beautiful monument on purpose.

I wonder what the heat of the fire did to the integrity of the stone. I am still shocked at the pictures of Notre Dame that I have seen. How ever on earth will the humans rebuild such a thing as ancient and massive and intricate as that? It is like a massive ocean liner carved from stone and timbers and lead and copper. But almost as if it were knit, or crocheted by the Maker Himself....mindboggling.
It most definitely could have been worse. I heard that there were 2000 people in the cathedral when the fire broke out!

Thank you so much! Tell him I am shaking my finger at him like a school teacher. Amazing they got out especially no one knows when it started. They still have craftsmans in different fields all over Europe that do that kind work. I have traveled and lived in Germany. I have been in Italy, France and Greece love the architecture. So they have many people that still have knowledge of working on old buildings. But to say it will be done in 5 years I don’t think so has to be more.
