I think batch numbers would be VERY important to have because for one: a lot of older items releasers don't know at all.
More importantly this would prevent any potential scams: not by releasers themselves but by people reselling CWs who have in the past tried to say an item is VERY limited and then you find out later there were a LOT of copies on site and you were duped.
well that makes me more on board then :D yay, exciting!
I don't like the idea of CWs being in the item directory at all, sadly :(

Can you elaborate why?

I would love to be able to search by releaser, and or have that information show up when searching for an item. I would like the CW to be separate from the regular item directory though.

I really really extremely want:Full support and I'd love to be able to search by the user that submitted it as well.
I love the idea of a separate directory strictly for Cws.
I don't think batch amounts should be included though since there are some users who forgot or didn't realize they had extra batches they could submit.
Or for instance myself. I have as 2 batches but only have submitted 1 batch, so how many batches would be listed in the directory for my cw commission?
I love the sort/search options as they are listed in your 1st post.
Just some thoughts, thanks for asking the community for input. It is always appreciated. ^_^
I think a separate directory for CWs is a great idea. I would like to know if an item is private or public. It's really disappointing to find a CW you love only to discover it was a private release and you have no chance of getting it. I also would like to be about to search for items by description or layer as the name of items sometimes are no where near what the item actually is. That is the most frustrating part about searches on here. It would be great if we could search by item type like SAMARITAN suggested... wigs, shoes, socks, ect. That would be most helpful IMO. Also, to be able to search by releaser and artist.
I agree with most of this information is already public and should be included. If you're not going to include it in the Item Directory, you should disable our ability to find this out altogether.
I would like a more specific filter: if an item has already done all it's batches and there will be no more, I'd like to automatically be able to include/exclude it from any searches. What I would really like is for them to have their rarity number changed to something else, like 205 or 201.
I would like a yes/no "is this in the CW Pawn Shop?"
I would like to be able to search by the fields you have mentioned. Right now the ID only allows Name or Release.
I also agree with being able to filter availability somehow. I only grab CWs that are available now, and I might consider something that's retired if it's in the pawn shop (like suggested). I'm not interested in items I have no ability to get because they're not in circulation and probably won't be.
I'd love to see artists listed![edit]To elaborate, this is something I've wanted since the beginning, and made the NewCW group to keep track. Name changes wouldn't be a problem in an official directory (fantastic), but I don't know if collaborative items would work properly (oh well).
I would love a CW directory. I've always found it difficult to find CWs unless I'm staying up-to-date on new releases, and even then, I feel as though I can never find older CWs from users that are no longer active, but that still have the CWs for sale in their shop.
Definitely my most wanted feature would be the ability to search by artist. There are particular artists I like that make lots of CWs for other people, but that don't necessarily keep track of those CWs. Searching by artist would also inevitably make it easier for artists that do keep track of CWs they've drawn because they wouldn't need to worry about staying on top of these lists.
Other nice features would be the ability to filter out CWs that are locked in shops and CWs that are retired. Essentially, I want a nice way of viewing CWs that are available in shops that I can buy. ;w; Would also be nice to see if an item is unlimited, but I wonder if this would actually be helpful, as there are many CW releasers that submit as unlimited, allow people to slot or buy for a limited time, and then retire the CW, either permanently or until a holiday. In cases like these, I'm not sure what use it would be to be informed that the item was unlimited -- unless there was the filter for retired CWs? I dunno, just a thought.

I wouldn't mind a separate one! Sorry, my electric went out haha. However, I have an issue in the wardrobe with the fact that so many are retired and/or the creator/seller doesn't sell anymore, or if it's limited. I'll always find a cute CW I love, but it's basically extinct! Now, a directory SEPARATELY for CWs would be a wonderful idea, but mixing it in with Subeta items would mess up what I do for holidays, which is WL every item I need, which is a personal thing, but hey, whatever you do I support! Thank you for your hard work xoxo

I'm gonna hop on the train and agree that being able to search/sort CWs by releaser and artist info would be awesome! It would save a lot of time in having to navigate through all the different shop threads in the CW forum in an attempt to find out who released something and/or who drew something. (I know there's the Custom Wear Identity Thread on which people ask for releaser/artist info, and people are amazing when they answer. But indeed, having a separate directory for CWs and being able to search by releaser/artist info would help save people a lot of time/effort/trouble in having to ask around.)
i love this idea! pretty much everything people have mentioned they'd like to see i agree with. as one who doesn't really purchase that many CWs (i've never slotted on one, i just grab things from the CW shops if they're available, or the pawn shop - when it was open) i'm always a bit hesitant to stick my toe into this scene because i don't know a lot about it, but this would be a great source of information!
i'm also hesitant to even put something on my wishlist because i never know if something is a public/private release, so i absolutely agree with , it would be awesome to see if something is public/private. (dangerous for my wishlist and wallet but at least i'd know if something was available)
if we're able to search by releaser, and they have a CW shop, is it possible to get linked to their shop directly from the directory (i guess that will show up if we shop search any of their items, but it would cut out that step if it's listed on the directory page itself)? i normally follow the shops that i find with the items i want in them, just so i can find the shop again, but this might be a quick and easy way to get to a shop without having to do a shop search for it as well?
and i love the idea to search by type as well. especially when the name or description may not even include anything related to what the item is (maybe it has to tho and i'm just a noob?). although i'm sure this would mean a tonne of categorising and i hate to lump more work on you guys ;-; i wish we could help with that!

So I don't buy CWs much/at all these days, but sometimes I just like to browse and look at the pretty items (and sometimes, they're stuff I would say you know what for $6 I'll take that).
I really love the idea of batches being shown there, because 1) it's against the dang rules to lie about batches and if a user said 2 batches and three years later someone claims it was 1 batch or 3 batches then there's public record it was in fact 2 and 2) three years later I may stumble across it in a user shop for 1k and consider it and instead of finding dead boards/no information I could easily find out oh snap it had 10 batches naw not for that much. It's beneficial, and can I ask a submitter? Sure, assuming they're active. Which is a wild assumption to make.
I also like showing the submitter, because yeah that url game is kinda annoying and it's not really hidden information anyways.
If listing batch numbers would be tricky (if people have only released only some of their batches for example), I think a better way would be exact item count in circulation. That would also be more useful than something with "unlimited" batches that was time limited and ended up having 70 copies v something that ended up having 10, especially since not everyone knows what is/was inherently a "popular" cw or not.
I haven't read everyone else's responses (time is limited). But here's my two cents:
I love the idea of an item directory specifically for CWs. It would be great to be able to sort by releaser or artist. I would also be interested in batch numbers and when the item was released.
Full agree on making the ability to see the releaser/artist and more importantly the batch number in a directory. :D It makes it very handy for those items that sort of get lost to time...I find myself having to search through forums to piece together how many potential batches there were/what they were selling for, and with the forum search being down it's been tricky.
I do wonder though, will the directory be updated the moment an item is accepted? A lot of people want to keep items quiet for the holidays, and even though you can currently snoop in the wardrobe and find them out, this will most likely be another honour system/"don't search for it if you don't want to spoil it" sort of thing...if i'm correct?
Right now i'm trying to piece together the differences of what this would offer that searching in the wardrobe doesn't already...and the biggest thing is the item info with batches and so on!
For one, people won't see the item info unless they go looking for it. There is already a lot you can find by sleuthing (like the releaser user ID in the image) and I feel like there will always be an "honor system" type of thing because of that and the wardrobe. So I don't think it would be worth the effort to try and hide it in the directory, because people who want the info have to look for it.
So I think what we could do, is make it so when you first search items / go to the directory home page, it just shows the same info you'd see in the wardrobe, so it doesn't actually spoil any more info unless you click on the item. (Does that make sense?)
