I support this, because I oppose tiers and 'preserving value of loot drops' and this will subvert both of those things.
I saw this thread earlier and never commented on it, but I agree. So support!

agreed
I looked into this, and I was surprised to find that what you suggested here is actually already how it works (and how it's been working since mid-2016)
I can't figure out if it was a glitch, or if it was intentional and we simply dropped the ball on communication and didn't make an announcement when we should have - but since mid-2016 when the current pet transfers page was created, pet transfers don't reduce pet stats for high-statted pets.
and I are looking into updating this information somewhere official, like the FAQ or something - and verifying/updating other battle-related information as well <3
You maintain the official battle guide forum topic, correct? It would be great if you can update the part about pet transfers. (Abandoning pets to the pounds has no battle restriction but DOES reduce stats, so that part is still accurate)

K, so pet transfer doesn't affect stats, only the pound option does...
Uh....well, I still see a potential problem with the last one because then someone could just organize a time to pound a pet and be grabbed immediately, then boost up the missing stats with stat boosters and start battling. So I would say that one should also have the 30 day restriction. But that's my opinion on the matter, since the goal of this was to prevent pet lending in any shape or form.

Thank you for the heads up! :) The only reference I could find about it was from 2011 (click for news post) so I had assumed it would be the same. I wonder if it bugged out when changes were made in 2016 - but I guess you guys are cool with keeping it the way it is now?
is it going to stay this way? because im pretty sure im going to arrange another pool of big pets to trade around if this is intentional.
a lot of stuff was patched up by making them achievement loot, but there is still enough to make it worthwhile to pass them around.
our group last time probably made 2bil each, and now we dont even need to trade off capped pets, we can just pass around the secondary 11s and 12s

I agree that it seems like a bad idea. I can just lend a friend my secondary battle pet, weapons, and scrolls without them having to put any investment into battling. I already have one battle pet, lending out my second for a month or two to let someone get all of the loot and achievements would be a minor inconvenience.

Okay, we've decided:
Transferring will have the 30-day waiting period before a pet can battle and will also remove 10% of any stat over 2000.
Pounding will continue to have no waiting period before a pet can battle, but will also remove 10% of any stat over 2000.
Thanks Cran, I think you all made the right decision to prevent battle pets from being passed around.
Before I think it used to be that they removed 10% of all stats if any stat was over 2000. So now itll just be that one stat if its over 2000?
Just curious as to why it was changed. o: [edit] FTR my opinion on this has kind of changed since this thread came out, so eh, I'm pretty cool with this "change" back to how it was supposed to be.
-- Previously it looked at HP, and if HP was over 2000 it removed 10% of each stat. Now it looks at each stat individually and reduces any that are over 2000.
Huh, so weird haha. So we could have transferred pets that had 1999 hp and 10k of str/def/speed? Well, this is probably better. Thanks! [edit] wait, sorry, one more question Is intel included? No, right? I would assume not since it would get hinky with books.
-- Nope, no intel, just level/strength/defense/speed/health.
Could this info maybe be listed on the Pet Transfer and Abandon Pet pages?
It's not mentioned in the FAQ at all, and from what I could check without actually transferring/pounding a pet, even the old percentage stat loss isn't mentioned anywhere. :x
Done!

So a pet with 10K HP 1999/1999/1999 STR/DEF/SPD and 10K int when transfered would come out of a transfer with 9000HP/1999/1999/1999 and 10K int
