Believe it or not I have met a few cool chihuahuas. It really is the owner and like I said most people baby them too much. And treat them like a child and not a dog. And there is a difference - even the little ones need to realize they aren't the boss. So sad the Daniel doesn't have the same vision as you do. :-(

That book just sounds so...I don't know, weird...but I am going to look into it. I'm just not a fantasy reader, but who knows, I could become one with the right book!! :-D

it's not really a book I'd recommend to someone who hasn't read much science fiction. (It's not really fantasy) For one thing, it's like the eighth book in a loosely connected series. It's the author's last book... And it's very dense, confusing science fiction for a reader who's unfamiliar. And anyway I just wouldn't recommend you look for it.

If you want to read a book by this author, maybe try The Crow Road. That's more of a regular novel set in Scotland. I might re-read it some time... Also I think his book Whit is good, but it's harder to find that one.

If you want to try reading fantasy or science fiction... I'll give some thought to what you might like, if you want me to. I got my parents to read Lock In by John Scalzi, and they really liked that.
