Wholeheartedly agree. I had a pet profile that got messed up by the layout change. Thankfully, I got it fixed. I basically made some simple profiles for my pets since I don't have the most coding knowledge. Examples are

When I heard about user's stories about how the layout change messed up their profiles, I wondered if it might be better for users to make more simple profiles to avoid issues like this in the future. But with this announcement, users won't have to worry so much now. :)

I don't have photoshop, so I wasn't aware you could do that. I used FireAlpaca to make a background for Oshacloud and SonataMoon's profiles.

I felt similar before I got some basic coding knowledge. I wanted to just post my story on the normal pet profile and submit to the pet spotlight. Do you have any story ideas for your pets yet? You could write them now while they're doing the changes.

But all I do I choose a background thats fits the story I have in mind, then change the pet-info section into a color that facilitates reading.

Oh my goodness, I am personally super mega excited about this change! ♥♥ I've always thought the coding for the profiles has been a little messy / convoluted, so it's so nice to see it's finally getting its much-needed revamp! And the whole idea about the Legacy Mode is awfully clever in my opinion, and a very good way to handle this entire process.

Even though I currently have 40 pets to fix because of the recent updates (and I might be in the minority here, but this is something I'm actually kind of happy about? Strangely enough, it's actually inspiring / motivating me to not only work on fixing my current pets, but also actually fixing other problems on their profiles that I always thought "I can just do it later" - now's a good time to be tackling all of that!). I'm glad it's just 40 of mine though and not all 74 of my pets... for once my slowness has actually paid off a little, haha! I can't wait until the new coding comes out so I can fully revamp them further / hopefully make their coding even more efficient with the new snazzy updates to the layout. :'D

So I'm very excited about this change; thank you for keeping us updated and being so transparent about this process! Hopefully this puts most worries to rest for many people! ♥♥

Actually, yes I have stories in my mind and also most of my pet's names are words in Hebrew that can be related to the species and I think it can be nice to explain about it and give a little story.

This is awesome and I'm really happy to hear you've all decided to do this! Being disrupted by the main layout changes has always been a point of frustration, especially this latest instance.

I don't really have a horse in this race, but I just wanted to say I think it's great the way you, Subeta Team, are rolling out these changes and trying to ease users through the process and make it as painless as possible. It's always appreciated to see work being done on a solid transition flow. 74 pets?! How did you get so many?

Thanks! I also try to make the stories in my text easy to read by resizing the text. I've seen profiles that were coded beautifully but have teensy-weeny text. I've recently learned in a few of my classes that web pages need to be as user-friendly as possible, and text that is too small can discourage users away from your web page.

I've seen those sentiments echoed by other users. It's actually made me wonder if having very simple profiles was actually a blessing in disguise.

Great news. I don't know much about Pet Profiles, but this seems like a good idea overall. It's nice to see how much you guys actually care about us and the site... The fact that you're keeping everyone in the loop really says a lot and I'm so thankful that I've been able to support Subeta from time to time. :)

Maybe once the new profile system is implemented then I might be able to create my own regardless of my inability to code. Lol.

I'm both excited for new changes and concerned about what the new system might be like. I would be pretty happy with a 2 column blocking system similar the "newer" user profiles where people can choose to add or hide (for example) the treasure section and move it on top of the main area. Plus, everyone loves "blank" sections that can be used for art or story block, or what have you. And the sections that are required by site rules (pet name, owner info, pet species/color) cannot be removed but can be repositioned. I can see how something like that would be much more... conducive to both coders and users who aren't codesy.

I am still concerned in general though, cuz I'm just generally paranoid. I remember the site moving servers just completely borked unicode characters outside of ascii for like... almost 2 years? Yea that completely fucked up like 2-3 of my pet profiles that had a lot of Chinese characters, and I was a dodo and didn't really think about backing up profiles before then. And like, I guess you could anticipate losing utf+++ support if you're moving to a different server but it was basically the last thing I thought would go wrong xD so. I'm ready to get shafted again lol

Regardless I'll be really happy to finally not have to make constant tweaks to everything due to site-wide style updates. Please keep us up to date with the plans of what it might look like! It helps anxious quivering paranoid pet aficionados like me stay more invested in this site. And last but not least, thanks for all your hard work <3
