I prefer baking actually but...

... I graduated from a girls only school run by Nuns and we had to learn how to cook/bake and run a household from 5th to 11th grade (we gradeuated after 13 years of school)

Really? If you don't mind (You totally don't have to answer) but where are you from? I find that really interesting actually. I love to cook and bake. I was raised in an Asian household with my grandfather and uncle both owning Chinese restaurants. So I took economics in school, I'm from Arizona originally and ended up here in SoCal now. I also do baking (Sweet and Savory) from my home. So I'm always excited to find others who is into baking!

Mostly, I only eat veggie, yes. If meat, only chicken yet better not. Do you have a crock pod? That´s the best, especially for soups and stews.

Yes, Glow Party, LOL, look at page 172. :-)

I don´t like tofu very much, alas. Yet there is always the possibility of substitutes and otherwise, it sounds really yummy!

Do you have pets also, love? ^-^

I live in Germany and I am german. we have elementary school and then the education sort of splits

we have 3 (actually 4) sort of "high schools"

the first is called "Hauptschule" and it ends after 10 years and is really a practical education (and you can not study if you are on this one)

the second is called "Realschule" which also ends after 10 years - and the education is sort of a mix in between practical and educational you can also not study (go to university) with a graduation from this one, but with good grades you can go onto

the third one "Gymansium" (which in my time had 13 years - now they are trying to get it doen to 12 or 11) and which is the only graduation that gives accsess to university and which is very educational The school I choose was (as said) a girl school run by nuns but there are also mixed schools

Mine also had a boarding school attached to it and we had a lot of exchange students from Asia, America, Africa

the fourth is called "Gesamtschule" and combines the three schools - which makes interchanges between classes easier.

after 10th grade we choose 3 "main" classes and 3 "lesser" classes in which we graduate (usually 2 of each) but then we also have to take maths, german (or at least one other language) a science and something like literature/religion/politics/history as well as one from mmusic/art and choose a sport (I was doing football.

I use a "fast cooking" pot I never though about pods

It´s great! You get a crocky from amazon for around 35 euros. One of my best buys ever. You put it all in and then forget about it, LOL, and it´s ready without much fuss after 4 - 8 hours. Perfect from me so dinner is always ready now when I come home from school at 9.30pm.

Also-- I totally second crockpots being amazing! I use my Instant Pot pretty often too, but for a "set it and leave for 8 hours" meal, NOTHING beats the crockpot!

HELLO love! I don't chat often, but I'm trying to do better and be more talkative! I'm usually here for the HA's ;)

I am! I actually spent about 3 hours working on a CW I'd started a billion years ago, and I got it done and submitted! Hopefully it goes through! I'm always anticipating a denial these days, but it's a pleasant surprise when they go through without having to be reworked :)

My husband is away at drill all weekend (boo!), so it's just me and the doggos hanging out this weekend. It's pretty chill. How about you?

that's very interesting about the different type of schools.

Who decides what kind of high school to go to after elementary? Is it the student, their parents, or the elementary school teachers? Or a conference between all of them?

it's sort of a mix for "Gymnasium" they only take children with really good grades but even if you have good grades the elementary school teacher gets to give an evaluation about social habits/behaviour so if a child has good grades the teaher can still give an evaluation that this child is not suitable for "Gymnasium" / or any other school

You have days of open door for all schools and you can go and see them and set p an appointment with the headmaster. This is what the nuns did. We had to do a talk (in groups of 2/3 children from the same elementary school class) and at that time I was not aware that this was an evaluation by the headmistress. She wanted to see how we interact with each other and have a look at the grades. She also took the evaluation letters, but we got those back after the 6th grade unopened - so she put more confidence in her own evaluation in this small talk round and did not take grades and the given evaluation as importnat as others might do.

So it can be a mix off all. I really wanted to go to this private girls school, since I found boys very annoying at the age of 8 (but girls can be very ... not nice either) my grades and evaluation were okay and my parents had no problem with it.

A friend of mine (from elementary school) wanted to go there, too but here parents prefered a mixed school, so she did not get to go

One of the girls who went with me ( Imean if all your friends go there, you want, too) had the evaluation that she should probably better just attend "Realschule" since her grades were not that good, she got accepted anyway but had to redo 8th grade and 11th grade - so she graduated 2 years after myself

I know there are headmasters who put a lot of trust in the given evaluation and then there are those who onlyy look at grades

it seems very hard on such young children to evaluate them at age eight for whether they will be eligible for university, or not, a decade or so later!

But it sounds like there is some ability to transfer to a different type of school at a later age too, if you can convince the head of the school. From what you said, it sounds as though it's a process of application, like at universities in the USA -- but with eight year olds!

What about in smaller towns? Are there so many different high schools in a less populated area, or maybe in a remote place there's only the fourth kind of school (the combination one) and it's more flexible since all types of education is in the same school?

we are living in a small village and we only have elementary school here.

after Elementary the children will have to drive to the next big town (one is 5 miles away the other on 7) via schoolbus / train

both twons have "Gymnasium" and "Realschule" the nearer one also has a "Hauptschule" - a "Gesamtschule" is in the 7 miles town

yes, you can interchange after 10th grade or if you are in "Gesamtschule" whenever you / your parents want

you can also get some called "Fachabitur" (which fits the graduation from "Gymnasium") with an eduction as for example KIndergarten teacher most handiwork jobs have special schools during leraning and training years and the almost always end with "FAchabitur"

my oldest brother finished "Realschule" and then became an Isnurance specialist finishing his job eduaction (of three years) with "Fachabitur" and then attende UNiversity (beside working) and got his master

Good morning, my lovelies! Going to update your raffle tickets with the next post, last day today! <3

What a sight they are, and such cute expressions! And you are really talented drawing all those cute pets! <3

Keeping my fingers crossed for your new submissions! ^-^ I remember being totally shocked when one of my items got denied back then. It was because of bold letters in the name....... Huh! :-)

How are you, love? The new bee wig Halli is releasing for you is gorgeous! <3

I bet you know a lot about Asian cooking then! How wonderful! One of my most loved recipes is a hot and spicy Asian soup. And we have a great vegan Asia restaurant just around the corner, I am in love with their veggie Tom Kha Gai! <3

Very good description of the school system here! I went to a Gesamtschule back then which was a lot of fun. Not as rigid as a gymnsasium yet same education and brought to the pupils from young, new and dedicated teachers who had all kinds of new things at their disposal like language labs, huge sport facilities, music rooms, chemical labs and so on. It was a nice time, I missed it after graduation, I still remember my last day at school very lively. I try every day to let my students have a lot of fun during their studies, too.

After elementary school, the teachers give a recommendation which school would be the best for the child. It isn´t obligatory, though. Only for higher education like gymnasium, you have to have the reference. If the child doesn´t get it yet is very good in the other school system, it´s possible to change schools later. Myself, I think it´s much too early to put a kid into such a system at the age of only 9 or 10. That´s why I prefer the system of the Gesamtschule (comprehensive school). You can wait and see what the interests and achievments of the teenager are in year 10 when they are around 15 or 16, and then they decide altogether if it´s doable for the kid to attain senior classes.

I think many people will ask for the makeup without the eybrows/dots bc it´s so cute. <3

I also loved my school

after 10th grade we got mixed classes with the boys from the boys only school who was located on the other site of the park (with a small bridge over a small river in the middle - where couples met and snug each other)

And I did not really enjoy it - since the boys were still annoying but since we had been educated without any prejudices it was fun to see the girls exceed in science and some boys be better in languages

the best thing about my school were social projects (the nuns also had schools in indonesia and india - and we also wanted to raise money for those schools, so we leraned who to organize charity early on)

it was also a very "musical" or "art" school, so if you took music into garduation you could cast maths out of graduation (I hated maths so much)

they still have three chois, an orchestra, a precussion group, a big band and exchange programms to America, Great Britain, France, Indonesia and India

a lot of teachers had specific classes I learned english (from 5th grade),latin (6th grade) french (7th grade) and italian and ancient greece from 19th grade on) - englsich and a seacone one were mandatory - the other I choose freely

I also enjoyed working for the social projects raising money and being "Goodmother" to help younger students we could do that starting in 10th grade.

We were supposed to learn cooking and housekeeping /social things but we also hav to ork with computers and learn to prigram things (and I graduated in 1996 - so early on)

Wonderful! I was to France (Paris) with my senior class and to Spain (Barcelona and Lloret de Mar; the later much more quiet back then, LOL). I never visited the USA mainland so far, we only went to the Hawaiin islands. Only some main airports like Chicago, SF and LA, LOL. One day!
