SYLVESTER PARTY
Did you know that the first places in the world to ring in the New Year are Samoa, Tonga, and Kiritimati, while American Samoa and Baker Island in the USA are the last? Germany is +6 hours to EST and it´s already early afternoon here.
Lots of people have special family or friend traditions around the New Year, such as a formal dinner, board games at the kitchen table, or movie night. What are your plans for today? Do you have special traditions? Our tradition is to have a cook-with-friends-and-board game day on the 30th of December because we all have cats at home and won´t leave them alone with all the noise on Sylvester like New Year's Eve is called here. So I am home all day and night and thought what better to do with my time than to prepare for a nice Colovaria Sylvester Party? :-)

Collect raffle tickets for a tombola and win a new CW recolor of my items! This raffle is for one which is not onsite so far and will come out mid of January. The winner will be able to choose the type of item: belt, earrings, makeup, headband or foreground and then I´ll present possible colors to choose from.

Morning! My plans today are going to relax and get some sleep since my parents are here to visit and help out with my son :) It'll be a quiet new years eve for us. Maybe later on p;lay some board games or watch movies. My HA is definitely ready for New Years Eve though lol.

I'm from Germany too and we don't celebrate much in my family. I'm not a fan of New Year parties where everyone has this forceful "everything is great - next year will be so awesome - I'm totally not tired and frozen at all"-grin and attitude. So my plan is to stay at home, do some cleaning as long as the sun's still up, then visit my parents for dinner (lentil soup, which is supposed to bring good luck and money), aaand then I'm going to try and calm my cat. And when everyone is going out to celebrate, I'm going to sit on my beloved couch and watch zombie movies with my best friend.
My favorite thing about New Year is the morning after which holds my most beloved tradition: Before I do ANYTHING else, I make some hot cocoa. So the first thing I do in the new year is to indulge in something sweet and comforting. ❤️

Earlier in the day today I have to attend a scheduled doctor's appt. Later this evening my husband and I will be hosting a "live" New Year's Eve sale of art glass we sale. This is the first time I am going "live" and I am excited, nervous all at the same time!!!

Thank you! I have some old school board games that I enjoyed as a kid, like Sorry, Life, Monopoly, and a trivia game. Probably put together puzzles too. The Exit game sounds interesting! Was it hard to get through?

Strange at it is, we´re going to have red lentil soup with tomatoes and dried apricots tomorrow, I hope that counts, too!

yeah I heard of that several times - having lentil soup for good fortune :) but we wont have lentil soup, its Racelett time today, I even prepared a pizza dough so we can make some on the Racelett, fresh veggies and for my men lots of meat xD - but I have to admit Im looking forward to taste the different liquors my dad bought ... I also have a small bottle of baked apple liquor that was gifted to me at christmas
no, luckily I have 4 free days (since saturday, sadly ... I could use some more xD) - Im kind of ... curious how my cats will react ... but its actually quite peaceful here

No, we don't blow the glass. The company that made this glass was here in the U.S. called "Fenton". They first started in the early 1900's but eventually closed operations in 2011. The art glass they produced was some of the better quality art glass made in the U.S. So, certain colors, patterns, etc. are highly valued among collectors. Some pieces very few were made, a color didn't go as planned or some of the very earlier pieces not many survived the passage of time. Collectors value these pieces the most! We seek out this glass and resale it to collectors.
