I suppose it was inevitable in their move to try to rally users back to the site. I think for the people that have left over this - pets were perhaps the last thing tethering them here. If suddenly every person can make a pet profile for a pet called 'Werewolf' or 'Aziraphale' it suddenly becomes a lot less...exciting.

I saw a few names in the pound I wouldn't mind - but the issue is you can't see if they have a legacy name or not before you adopt them.

On the note of your legacy box - I thought they should've included a freebie pet slot in the post too tbh. Weird choice not to.

Hey and Hi! It isn't an issue that would cause me to leave, but to be honest I am not a huge fan of this change. Of all the pet names I have only 2 were names that I had to wait for. I created all of the rest of them myself, so no one wanted them then! It wasn't until the new movies came out that people suddenly wanted SW names. Even then they mostly wanted new character names. A lot of my pets get their names from the EU books of SW. At least I was able to give Chewbacca back his extra c and spell his name correctly. I will accept it and live with it, but not thrilled.

Yeah if the pet meant that much to them then why abandon it? Makes no sense. I don't see any reason to leave either, but I hope this doesn't hurt the site more then help in the long run.

That would have been nice to have an extra slot. Also, it is very tempting to create another or maybe adopt one, lol.

That's what I am hoping too. It seems Subeata is going through some major growing pains and I'm hoping that everything comes out great once things settle down.

I just hope it doesn't turn into another Neopets situation. I see a lot of people acting like the older players do not matter. That the site should only worry about getting new people in here. Attracting new players is great, but what good does it do for the site to chase away older players who pay money just to get in new free players who might not have any interest in spending money on this site? Plus I don't see how this change will attract new players. Are they advertising or something? Neopets and most of the players had the mentality of "If you don't like it, then you can just leave" and a lot of people did just that and look what happened to them! I have invested a lot of money in this site (WAY more then I should have) so it will take a lot for me to walk away. but I did it with them when it became too frustrating to ignore. I just want to see this site stick around for a few more years at least. Not ready to give it up just yet.

I agree with you 100%. I left Neopets the day before I joined here. I had been on that site since it started and once it was bought out they just pushed all their older players out and made us feel incredibly unwelcome. I don't get that from what is going on here. I get the feeling that they are doing their best to grow the site with more efficient code and that comes with it's own set of mistakes and bumps along the way as things get sorted out. I do appreciate how transparent they are being about the changes, especially after the wardrobe fiasco. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for bigger and better days ahead. :)

I probably could have worded it better, but I actually meant the attitude coming from other players. Any time there was a change on Neo there would be comments from players telling other players to leave. I would see things like "Oh you are so entitled" "Stop being so greedy/selfish" "Staff is just laughing at you!" "Neo doesn't owe you anything!" "The site is free so shut up!". That is enough to drive anyone away!

I was pretty sheltered in the guild I was in. I only really talked to the people in there. I was rarely on the forums, specifically for that reason. People get very bold when they can hide behind a screen.

I loved the guild I was in. Thankfully the 2 players I was closest too came here from Neo. In fact one of them introduced me to this site. :D

So I'm confused. The new bath house pool has free and unlimited name changes? Huh? "they can now take a dip in the 'Fresh Start' pool and never have to think about their old names again. This package is free and unlimited" What's this about? And what's up with the "new" Subeta? "We're working on a brand new version of Subeta." I sure hope they aren't going to screw everything up. The disaster a while back with the new servers that messed everything up for months was awful.

I think it just takes the legacy name off of the pet profile. It doesn't actually change the pet's name.

you were the first person I thought of when I read the changes! Your collection of correct canon names has always impressed me. I hope the site doesn't end up with a flood of copies of your names at least - I don't think there will be much of a scramble for the EU names. But yeah glad to see we're in the same boat of 'well I guess this is happening'.

I completely understand what you guys are saying about neo, I wasn't as hardcore of a user on there as I had been when I was younger - but I do see some similarities happening. People in the news post about the pet name changes that were upset or angry got completely steamrolled and essentially told off for being upset. The attitude very much seems to be 'kiss staffs feet for all changes or get out' which isn't very healthy.

yeah it's what EmilyMae said, the bathhouse is just the option to remove the Legacy Name from pets created before the change. I have a legacy named pet called Wetsuit that I've changed to Charnel House, and I'm going to remove his legacy name so he's only Charnel House if that makes sense?

Staff seems to have realised subeta was stagnating and that significant changes needed to be made to modernize and keep from dying. Hopefully they make the right choices, and/or atleast soothe hurt feelings over changes. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few months.

Awe thanks :) Yeah I think the EU names are pretty safe. I mostly pick characters that I really like! Some are pretty obscure. When someone says "Who's Grand Admiral Thrawn?" this is me: I just want to say Please read the trilogy!!!! It is awesome :D Not much we can do besides go with the flow at this point!

I think a lot of people left Neo because of that attitude. I know I did! You start to feel so unimportant. No one wants to feel belittled. Now the site is just a very sad shadow of what it used to be. I am pretty sure it even changed hands again.

You would be surprised!! A lot of people are just movie watchers and not book readers. I wish they would do a movie of the trilogy (and not ruin it!!!) but they could probably only do an animated film. I would be happy with that. I wouldn't really want a live action with a whole new cast.

I started reading the SW books when they first came out but after a while stopped because there were too many coming out. Always a SW fan. My previous car tag was STRWRS.

I have been reading the books for years. I used to have a book store that always got all the new ones in. Unfortunately they are gone now :( like too many of our book stores. I haven't bought a new one in a long time. I have quite a few, but the last ones I really got in to were the ones about Han and Leia's oldest son turning to the dark side. That was a really good storyline.

I don't recall ever changing any of my pets' names so guess they are all legacy names. Might be interesting to pick 1 pet to have a different name every month. :)

I only changed one of my pet's names. I am really happy with the rest and want them to keep their legacy names.

Yeah I probably will want to keep all my pets names unless I decide to make one of them a monthly name change pet. :D But that means coming up with a bunch of new names for him.
