I like this prompt. Some years it's been easier to get into the spirit of the season than others. I always start out with Christmas/Holiday music. So much of it is crap, though, that I make my own playlist and have it on rotation in my car 24/7 beginning the first Monday in December.

Then the Christmas cards start arriving. both via snail mail and email. I love e-cards, especially the animated ones.

My hubby is in retail (we own a wine store and he manages it) so we can't attend many parties because he works every day but Sundays, so we spend lots of time in the evenings together when he gets home, sipping wine and watching Christmas movies.

This year, though, it's been the women I work with who've been amazing. We have a group text going and we send each other silly or sweet Christmas gifs all day long. Or pictures of our kids/cats/trees. They're all amazing women and I'm so grateful to work with such smart, kind and caring people.

I'm notoriously bad with suspended disbelief...lol I was 13 when Jaws came out-yes, I'm ancient-and railed and railed that a Great White did not get that big (25'), great movie but I have to keep my hand over my mouth not to argue that the largest GWS ever caught or tagged was 18' This being said, it must have been some kind of incentive for Ned (who's dad and oldest brother were killed by Aerys and who's sister was ravaged by Rhaeger) to claim a Targaeryen was his 'natural; child and to raise him. Just thought of this maybe his sister was pregnant-I don't believe she lasted very long after the incident according to the book but Ned was at her deathbed so it may have been months. In that case I think he would have kept Jon's parentage a secret and raised him as his own

We have a plug in Cat pheromone to keep things calm among cats, so things haven't really escalated to open fighting, but as much as I love him he's young, impulsive and kind of clueless and I worry that he'll end up getting an Owwie from Bea, it would definitely teach him better manners, but I don't want him to be so traumatized that he's afraid to engage her.

Wow, NYC to Maine is quite a transition! How long have you been in Maine? What burrough did you live in? I lived in Brooklyn. And lastly, do you say 'Yes' or Ayuh?

I really don't know - but that sounds right, maybe some kind of secret star crossed love affair or something they really barely touched on it. I don't know who anyone is that wasn't a character in the show - so whenever they flash back to stuff that happened before when they decided to start the show's story line I just have to hope I catch a family name I recognize or track down a friend that's read the books and ask them. Like when they first introduced the Boltons into the show I had no idea what was going on, luckily I had a friend who had read that far and was watching the show so she explained it to me lol

for the life of me I can't remember precisely when Ned has that flashback...I want to say it was when Robert and his entourage came North and he and Robert went down to the crypts to pay respects. LOL I need someone who's both read the series and kept up with the seasons

The Boltons were nuts, like beyond BSC, the only difference between Roose and Ramsey was that Roose was better at handling loose ends with a bribe here or cutting out a tongue there so someone xouldn't go running to the Starks

To me, the holiday season means spending time with loved ones. Every year, a family friend hosts this huge New Years’ party and everyone goes and it’s a blast. We always do something cool—last year, we put our 2016 worries and problems onto balloons and released them, signaling our entering a new year without last year's burdens. For Christmas, though my family has never really been one to go all out, it's nice to decorate the tree and get simple little gifts for each other. This year, I've saved up some money to buy my friends some nice things, too. I love seeing the smile on their face when they get something. Christmas to me truly isn't about getting but giving.

The Boltons are just the grossest EVER. MONSTERS!!!!

Because I can't post twice in a row.... [edit] I realize I haven't actually done the prompt yet...

What makes it feel like the holiday season to me? Outside of subeta and the overwhelming generosity you find here especially during Lumi - I'll be honest I really haven't been 'feeling' the holiday spirit this year. And then late last night/early this morning my answer to the prompt came on TV. Now I know it's completely silly and inane but one of the things I really love that has that Holiday feel to it is the Yule Log and yes I really do mean the 'fake fire on your TV' version and not the rolled caked dessert version. I really like Yule Logs that include animals like kitten or puppies. Last night/this morning Animal Planet and the Hallmark Channel both had fun one with lots of animals. And for some reason I don't really understand Outlander has one too and it really good - it has a couple of dogs for the first 15 minutes or so and really good music (which is a-typical for Yule Logs) the whole time. I realize this isn't an award winning entry but I thought I'd share anyways.

What makes it feel like the holiday season to you? Christmas lights. I love to see the room where the christmas tree is blinking with the colored lights. I love them so much that I even left them for a whle year because they cheered me up. <3

{ * come & gone } every year, the holidays are always a little bit different. sometimes you spend them with different people, or give different gifts, or eat different things. there's always some little thing that makes each year unique and worth appreciating, and there are always things about each one that we'll miss when it's over - whether it's the pecan pie or getting to see relatives that don't live near. what do you miss about the holidays when they're over?

this activity starts now and ends at 11:59 pm subeta time on saturday, december 31st!

for this activity, a friend and i will be going through and picking a few responses we think are particularly interesting/thoughtful! the prizes for this activity are:

we'll also have a couple raffle prizes, to encourage conversation and just because it's fun:

I’d definitely miss the spirit everywhere, especially in stores xD like this art/craft store we went to, there were literally tinsels and brightness everywhere xD I was really feeling it there ;D it makes a person so happy when entering that store haha. I also miss the lights people put up around the neighbourhood and also in other parts of the neighbourhood. Although they were not immediately taken down, they’ll be down sooner or later :/ and it’ll be all dark again...

Every year, I miss the mood people were into some days before and over Christmas. The harmony, love, peace, gleeful anticipation and permissiveness shown around these days. Beginning with today, it´s all rush, rush and sensory overload again. However, every year I hope people carry the spirit into the new year and try to be more relaxed and balanced. <3

Congrats to all the winners, hope you had a wonderful Luminaire, sending all my love! ^-^

To be honest. I've come to hate the holidays. Losing my father in 2010 changed me. But most years I manage to do better than I did this year. What's so different, well we have 4 children and this year I felt compelled to buy one large gift for the 3 oldest and my husband to share. Then we bought the 2 yr old a medium sized gift. They all also recieved multiple small gifts. Still I had this feeling like I just wasn't doing enough but it's all our finances allowed. 2 of the boys had to have their tonsils and adnoids removed the 19th. So they were really sickly, in alot of pain, and my husband and I decided Santa would come early. So the night of the 22nd my husband had a friend dress up as Santa, come to our home (out in the country mind you) and surprise them with the big gift. An Xbox One. Something we had literally saved months to buy. The boys showed little interest. Which totally broke my heart. Even though I KNEW they felt bad I really had hoped to bring the Christmas spirit into the house. I was mistaken.

So, I move forward, only inside my heart is broken, my tears won't stay back, and I spend most the weekend very deeply sad. My dad isn't here, my kids don't seem pleased, and to top it off this is my very first Christmas without my brother and his family since they moved 12 hours away a month ago.

I do as much gifting as I possibly could on here, it seemed the only place the holidays actually felt as they should. When I opened my tree gifts on Christmas day. The love and spirit of the season shown through. So many of my friends here showered me with lovely gifts. I literally broke down and cried because of these wonderful people I have come to consider my friends, my confidantes, and some even as family. They saved me this year. They pulled me out of it and foe the remainder of my day I felt festive. I do not have the words to express my gratitude to my friends, most of them being members of and .

incase anyone was wondering Finally this morning my boys started showing interest in their big gift. I finally heard fighting over who gets to play, I heard mom these games are awesome, yes it was loud, yes i was slightly annoyed, but at the same time my heart was so full. They were just too sick to enjoy the gift. My selfishness was not needed and pretty dumb now that I think about it. Which set me right back into my somber mood. sigh oh the ups and downs of motherhood. One day I'll figure this all out.

Seriously just vented like crazy, thought about deleting it but maybe someone else out there should know, it's always going to be ok. Just have patience.

Happy Luminaire to all, warm hugs Love Country

I'm an odd one really, although I love Christmas Day and the joy etc I love it when the holidays are over. I love taking the tree down and packing away the decorations. Taking all the boxes and bags to the recycling center and getting my house back to normal makes me feel peaceful and calm. Getting back into a normal routine of eating proper food and sleeping at a decent time makes me feel better too - I really struggle when there's so many treats around and I find myself skipping actual meals and snacking on chocolate and nuts instead which makes me feel really rubbish!

I think it helps that none of my family live far away from me so I see them regularly anyway.
