The items won&;t be retired forever, but I don&;t want to commit to an answer as to how they&;ll be back. We could do a lot of cool different things which means possibly switching up the shop or whatever. This is the last time he&;s opening the shop in October though (I just edited the post a bit to reflect that).

This is what I said in the news to that question!

So they're possibly retired 'til next summer with a chance to return with some new stuff?

:'| I'm sorry if I'm being dumb about this, I'm just a little worried and trying to figure out how much of which things I should buy up from the shop before everything goes poof.

I suggest you buy what you want now while you have the chance to. At this time, we don't know how this event will be run in the summer because there's a lot of possibilities for it. So it might not work out to have a shop like this during that time (but we'll find another way to get items out) or it might work out to have the shops and add another tab. He might be running festivals every year. He might be doing some summer themed gear. We don't 100% know yet! I don't want to say YES SHOP WILL DEF BE BACK NEXT SUMMER and then it not be because we went another way.

So like I said, I suggest getting the items if you can now.

@ amber Ah, I was hoping the Alegarten shop stuff will be in rotation from now on (like you do with old Morostide trick-or-treat items, for example) but mixed in with new things too. :/ Guess my week will be spent buying multiples of everything just in case.

Thank you for clarifying! At least now I know how to plan for this.

Honestly, we want to be more creative then just adding new things to a shop. So if the shops do end up coming back in that form, I doubt many new things will be added that way when we could def be coming up with a cooler way to get people active and involved getting cool items.

@ Amber Oh, no worries! I understand wanting to freshen things up! Only so many sausage-themed items you can create. :'D I just wish there was a clearer answer so people wouldn't have to rush to buy up and hoard duplicates of things in case they need them for achievements, gourmand, TCs, collections, wardrobe, everything-else-under-the-sun.

Why not keep the old shop with the old stock (someone could help run it?) in the summertime, but add the new stuff in whatever new format you come up with? That'd keep the old things circulating while also giving you free reign with fresh ideas.

[edit] I get that this is supposed to be an sP sink - and it's a very good one at that. But it's also encouraging hoarding, which is something staff has tried to dissuade users from in the past.

I mean it might be that he continues to run it and do other things. I'm not going to commit to an answer because we might come up with a brilliant idea like three months from now and end up changing whatever I've said now :p SO WHO KNOWS. I have to be vague on purpose ;)

No spoilers, I gotcha! x) But there's also something to be said about peace of mind and item availability, especially with achievement goods.

I'll see what I can stock up on, but I'm genuinely hoping that things won't be permanently retired once you guys are done brainstorming. :'D At least with Morostide, we end up with buckets of old things along with new ones. With Alegarten, it's more time-limited and more expensive on the whole.

like I said, you can count on them not being retired forever. :) They will get back out someway

@ Amber So if all else fails they'll potentially be out via the free shop, or from quests. ;P Or something like an antique shop, but for holiday items. [sub]Anxious brain is throwing silly and unlikely ideas around, don't mind me.[/sub]

Either way, thank you for clarifying a bit more! I hope you'll consider some of the things mentioned about item hoarding, achievement items skyrocketing and the Alegarten shop being a nice sP sink. Have fun brainstorming! I'll be looking forward to the new stuff next summer.

I updated the first post to tidy it up and add the explanations about future Alegartens with info from in the FAQ section.

As a lover of Oktoberfest the news is somewhat disappointing but I understand why staff wants it to be moved as a less stressful thing. I hope I can get used to the new Alegarten when it comes. I was just really shocked that there were no new items in the shop, last year there were hardly any new items so I hoped it would be back in full force this time. 😣

TY for updating the first post! ❤

I've been poking around my achievements to see what I'll need to hoard just in case and I'm a bit bummed that there doesn't appear to be an Alegarten section under "Seasonal". D: I wonder if there are any other holidays that don't have their own section? I know Keelhauliday could do with one too.

I already have all of the foods and collection items from the shop, so for now I'll probably just wait for the new achievements to be released to see what clothing items I'll need to buy for those. And then go through and see if there are any other clothes that I want for whatever reason.

They generally have their own section if it's like plot related or very obvious doesn't fit under another section like catching/releasing fairies etc. That's why Keel Hauliday etc are in the food, etc. Because they're just feed your pet x, put in your collection etc.

Huh! I didn't know that! It makes sense, but on the other hand... They're holidays, so it'd also make sense to have the holiday achievements in their own sections. It's a bit less scattered across categories that way, even if the achievements are feed X to pet, read Y to pet, have Z in wardrobe.

that'd be more scattered, imo D: feed/read x to pet and have whatever in your wardrobe aren't restricted to their holidays, you can complete them at any time. it makes more sense to group all the food ones so people with gourmand pets can see all of them at once; same with the people who want book achievements for book worms or people who are working on filled wardrobe, etc

Ah, fair point! Still gets a bit confusing if the achievement is tied to a holiday shop, you're looking to get said things from the holiday shop and you thought to check in every other achievement section except the most obvious one. ... Maybe it's just me being a derp. x)

nah, it's not you -- catching up on achievements using holiday stuff is a huge pain, especially if you take a hiatus. i just don't know if there's a good way to distinguish what achievement goes with what holiday theme outside of resorting them into holidays (pls no) or some extra marker, like a little goat for alegarten or a pumpkin for morostide or whatever
