Everyone seems to love the 2759, I feel like I'm the only one who has never really liked that experiment. But it could just be because my eyes refuse to see the feathers as a peacock tail for some reason and my brain thinks of it as a fat butt attached to the back part of the animal. ;~;

That said, I'm hoping the pangolin/sloth or the squid wins ~

I voted once for the pangolin, the squid, and the blob. In my opinion, the pangolin and squid would make the most sense as separate pet species while the blob would be fun to see what the artists come up with for colors.

I personally Voted for Experiment . I haven't really decided if I liked the other experiments well enough to throw some sP at them.

Voted a few times for the squid and once for the peacock since I like both of them. The blob...well, I need to see some of the various colors first before even adopting one. The sand-cat I wouldn't mind winning. Same for the sloth, cause I had a chibi one at one point.

I will say that turning experiments into fully fledged pets is kind of strange in and of itself. They're experiments and meant to be weird one-off creations, "mistakes" that are loved. People spent a lot of time trying to get these specific experiments because of their uniqueness.

My other problem, especially wrt the blob, is that there will always be people who won't be happy with whatever the artist comes up with because that wasn't what they envisioned (which again, leads to custom overlayssss coughcough).

I get that a big problem with overlays is that the title on the pet's profile then becomes "[Petname] the Custom Common Experiment ," which I suppose is unattractive to some players when they want the color to reflect the overlay. I don't get it, but I suppose they reserve that right.

In the end, though, it's a virtual pet. I might be a little miffed if my guy doesn't win, but we're getting a new one anyways, which is always fun. [insert poorly timed political joke here]

I think maybe I'm leaning towards the squid, or the blob... Idk... Either way, it'll be nice to see the new artwork/colours for whichever wins!

I voted one time for each of them because as I said on the news post "I can't decide, they're all cute and they're mine now!" XD

Voting for the pangolin because I really love it and I think it makes the most sense as a pet species.

Not a fan of the blob because I find it's concept boring. The only way I'd be okay with it is if it acted like a mimic and took on shapes of objects to match that color, like a gilded treasure chest for Golden, but even then I really don't really get the appeal.

Voting for 870, got 10mil in so far. I want another cat the most, though I agree that the others would make good pets, too. I wish this wasn't a 'the losers will never become pets' sort of competition. It'd be better if it was left open, like 'the winner will become a pet, and the losers will be considered the same as any other experiment pet a.k.a. may or may not become pets someday'.

At this point I'd be happy with ANYTHING expect the steaming pile of poo :v

I threw some sP in for the (sand cat) and the (pangolin) but the majority of my votes are going to the (squid)

I never did like the peacock thing so I'll definitely be disappointed if that wins, but otherwise I don't really mind. I have a definite favorite of course, but I won't be super disappointed since I can always get my ass in gear and get overlays made for my boys.

Just wanna add that I really hope the experiment 8001 becomes a voting option next time (if possible) this comes around. :)

I hoping that the squid wins (I've been trying to zap Inkantation into a squid for too long) but I also don't feel too motivated to actually donate without visible totals.

Gave to 870 and that peacock tailed creature. Considered the blob and pangolin-type one as well but only gave to two.

In fact, there was a pretty cool piece of art that user Doc-Roe drew ages and ages ago of an 84 that looked kind of soft and rubber and tar that your post reminded me of, but their old first post is gone and I could not find it on their linked art pages. sad. They did it in 09 and I feel like it would be weird as hell of me to ask them about 8 year old arts that they did for someone else... :p

I do prefer this method of having community input to select a new pet species, I'd rather have a say. I wonder that if this becomes a thing, would staff draw the experiments and consider how usable they'd be as pets? Experiments should be stuff that woulds better as one offs, but there are definite experiments that could also work as pets.

I wonder if they'll let us know the totals? Probably at the end. I'd also like to know how much people are donating on average. :P

I agree, the experiments have always been super random (that rhino with the gun anyone?), but some of them would work as pets. For anyone who was zapping for them I guess they would be happy with more colours, especially the redraws. :)

For the people who think subeta needs more aquatic pets, I agree, new ones should be created to get variety, but not taken from the experiment pile. Hydrus color exists, make every species aquatic Pets like Chelon, Swampie, Torrent, Tutani Bonus: exp , , , That's a nice ecosystem right there :D

Peacock's design is too detailed and works perfectly as a one-off experiment pet with it's wow factor. The experimental part also applies to the saheric sandcastle cat. Blob is the poster child of experiments like 404, but hey, if it was supposed to be a joke, then lets see how staff would make that joke work. Users here have suggested very creative and fun ideas for blobby and it would be an experimental and pet species revolution, if it would be the only species to have totally different forms in every color. And that sounds more interesting to me than wings on an angelic squid or a reborn peacock tbh.

That leaves me to 0101. the design is simple, the different pet colors would really pop out and make it special, it looks like a regular common species and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

That's my opinion and reasoning when it comes to choosing who I vote for. People have listed very good reasons why their candidate should win, so every experiment is a rightful winner in the end.

But just a reminder to everyone: It's ok to be angry and disappointed, when your fave doesn't make it, but please don't bash and shame the winning pet or the users who voted for them.
