Thank you all for your kindness and concern. Managed to pass out for 5 hours but the pain from spasm woke me. Got out of the hospital too late to fill a partial prescription for a highly controlled pain med. So I have not have pain management since 9 last night. Have a call in to my Dr. and hope she responds soon. Out of concern they even gave me a ride back home in an ambulance from the hospital yesterday. So appreciated.
, would think the hospital pharmacy could have filled that.. or an all night one. Anyway, hope you get some relief soon!
All pharmacies near me close at 6 PM on Sundays, and I was too late for for the hospital pharmacy. As I don't drive and probably should not if I could it is hard.
sending prayers you can get relief soon!
Thanks sweetie, now if my doctor would only call me back. Visiting Nurse called and is coming over later.
I f the hospital knew that they should have kept you and released you in the morning or gave you the medicine from there. Gosh you poor thing no pain medication all night.
...hope you have your pain med by now. What a long night it must have been.
The hospital had to know and they only give me the oxy for 1 day and I couldn't fill it as everything near was closed, so I just got back from my doctors as the visiting nurse came earlier and was trying to help me with filling that one and getting a second one to fill out the two weeks of acute care. My neighbor was free {God bless him} so he gave me a ride in town to my dr and she wrote a small script but she will send a nurse tomorrow to see how I am doing and will write another. Odd thing was went I went to the pharmacy they wouldn't do both on the same day because of my insurance. Just got home with the meds and have taken 1 with relief to follow.
Thank both you Ladies for your kindness and concern.
If I were you I wouldnt let this go, I would make sure a supervisor or someone higher knew what happen to you. Your paying insurance to survive a night without painkiller, and I know you had to be seriously miserable. Thanks to your neighbor you got taken care of the right way. I just cant believe adr or hospital would be so heartless to send you home without pain killers. My Dad broke his ribs, and he was in a lot of pain.
The spasms are awful and now that I'm trying sitting down I'm still having pain with the oxy, scary, but they also gave me an iv push of an anti-inflammatory called Toradol 3 times in the hospital. But my doctors assistant today when I picked up the script asked me if they had given me any or a script for the pill form and no they didn't. I'm thinking that it is a lot stronger than the advil I'm taking. She was not happy when I told her too.
Edit: Very sorry for your father, can truly understand
Edit: The truly sad part at the heart of it all is Yes restrictions should be put in place but please use Logic and give it to a senior in decent health otherwise. My chest ex-ray and pelvic cat scan didn't lie. Don't want to abuse, why didn't they think of it?
I would call back for the toradol, if you werent in the same pain as you are now with oxy. Short term use of medicine to over come pain should okay in my book.
Thing is the toradol is not a controlled substance, it's just that she didn't tell and damn well should have that it came in pill form and at least offered it to me. About an hour ago I messaged my dr and assistant my problem and did say that I wanted the toradol. Added an ice pack to my lower back as it really is complaining about sitting. But I'm still boss. My doctor has had me as a patient for 8 years and is part of MGH so the whole place can see my medical records. No reason to withhold anything can help with pain management.
I wish you had my dr, she would have given you exactly what you needed no questions. Your dr should have talked about pain control, and see what you preferred to do. I sure would question her about it!
Well I went to the emergency room on Saturday via ambulance and didn't see my doctor until today, all the meds I received I got while inpatient. And then it stopped for a bit., sigh.
So that tells me she didnt pay attention, to your ER care and meds. Totally slopping unless its normal protocol.
It is normal where oxy is concerned now but my doctor was upset when she learned today that I wasn't told or offered the anti-inflammatory in pill form but that wasn't until I got home and emailed again.
