If Portugal doesn't win this year I'll cry, that guy is a true artist! Portugal has never won anyway so it'd be cool for them to get their first win.
Hopefully Belgium, Norway and Bulgaria places high too! I'm happy Blanche did so well today compared to the semifinals. And that Bulgarian kid needs to send me his jacket!
Agreed! Blanche sang a whole lot better than in the semis. I don't think we'll win, but top 10 would be nice.
These are my favorites:
Poland (white dress) Austria (don't care guy) Armenia (long braid) *Netherlands (3 sisters) Moldova (sax guy) Hungary (roma guy) Italy (monkey) *Portugal (disney song) Azerbaijan (chalk board) Norway (mask) UK (gold dress) *Romania (yodel song)
Damn, I ended up liking a whole lot more songs than I thought! The ones with the * I'm hoping for top 3, with Portugal on number 1.
[edit]Yay Portual won, and Belgium ended 4th. I'm happy with the result! :D
Have you heard the false note given by Manel Navarro at the end of his performance? That was bloody shameful! The audience even booed at him! 😑 😲
I'd like to take this moment to just say...
WE WOOOOOOOOOOON. FADO, FÁTIMA AND FUTEBOL, the old portuguese pillars, ahaha Q___Q (Pope in Fátima yesterday and today; our footbal championship got decided today and now Salvador did the impossible with that beautiful fado-soul song).
It's really touching the amazing support from other countries and followers over our song and representative. Kinda sounds cheesy to say it but thanks all for the support ; V ;b
I couldn't be any happier with Salvador's victory. When he was selected through our national channel 1 contest to represent Portugal in ESC, he wasn't even my favorite. He got the most points from our national jury, but he didn't win people's voting. Over the last days, and especially after the semi-final performance, it was clear Salvador was getting new fans and conquering hearts from all over Europe. May the 13th, he may have gotten a little help from Our Lady of Fátima. Congratulations Salvador, congratulations Portugal, and congratulations to all other great entries as well, which make this contest so good and competitive.
Congratulations to Portugal! I'm so happy they won. Even though I don't understand the song well, it feels so pure and fragile that it makes me cry anyway. The victory is well deserved. Also happy with Moldova at 3th (the more I hear it, the more I like it), and 4th place for our little Belgium. Blanche did well!
I feel a little bad for Germany. As well for Spain. Can't say I was big on their songs, but I didn't think they deserved such a low score again this year. My fingers are crossed for next year. Also a bit saddened about Israel no longer participating. This years edition was already signed with so many things... Ah well.
And I'm still not used to the new voting system :D
Congratulations, Portugal! Your song was terrific! (too bad I can't say that in Portuguese, because I actually know speak some of the language...) 😃
Except for Spain, whose song was a total load of rubbish and - to make matters even worse - because of this!
Seriously? Do you really think that Spain didn't deserve to score so poorly? The song, as I stated above, was an absolute rubbish, and of top of that - the moment whose link I've just put above! Utterly pathetic! 😡 At least I'm happy that my favourite songs had a nice score and that the UK, after many years of low scores, finally managed to get a much more decent score! :)
Well done to Portugal! I'm glad they won; it was a nice sweet little song, and it's nice to see something different win, and for Portugal to have their first victory. I wanted Belarus to win, but apparently most people weren't that keen on it.
UK ended fifteenth with a score in the triple figures, which is about as good as we could expect. Thank heavens for the panel votes because we got hammered in the popular vote; only 12 points. Oof. Better than others, but still pretty damning.
I guess I'm just a hippie at heart and rather have everyone get along and get a few points for sport :D I easily feel bad for others, that's just me.
congrats to portugal! belgium was my personal favourite, but he (they) were incredible and it was such a deserved win.
I'm not saying that folk-pop songs shouldn't be in Eurovision, but Mr Navarro's song was so stale, so unoriginal and so, so excessively commercial, it turned out to be terrible as heck! I just HATE songs that are a complete rubbish, especially when it comes from a country like Spain, which has flamenco, rock, pop, rap, electronic music and people with a lot more talent than that bloke! 😠
Alright, let me rephrase. I see each entry at Eurovision as a country. In which I do not mean that it is all the country is, but only within the contest. When I say I feel sorry for Germany or Spain, I mean I feel sorry for the country for losing. I never stated I thought the song was good and I never disagreed with you. I only said I feel bad for the country for losing. Just like I would feel this way in, let’s say, the World Cup. No one deserves a low score imo, at no point, in any way. You can just get... unlucky. Which is what happened. They got unlucky in their entry, which doesn't mean they deserved it.
You’re stating a whole other discussion in my opinion, which is fine, but it is not something for me personally to get worked up around, so I’m not getting involved into that discussion if you don’t mind. All the respect for your opinion, though. I hope mine can be as well. Sorry if I was unclear, and hopefully it is clear what I meant to say now :)
Spain's song was fresh and very summer~ish, and when I heard it for the first time, I was actually enjoying that first part. Suddenly, it feels way too repetitive. He literally sings the same thing over and over again for the last 2 and a half minutes :/ That false note in the final performance didn't help either for sure. I feel bad for Germany, I thought they'd place higher than they did... 2 of the songs that didn't have to go through the semi-finals, take the last 2 spots...? Hm... I was cheering for Moldava (I love the saxophone guy, sound and rythm becomes so cool. I also loved 2010 Moldava's entry for the same reason) and also for Romania - mixing those 2 very different musical genres was actually a good surprise (2 great voices, but that yodelling was just astonishing). It was like a trip back to the 90's when I watched Heidi :P There was a lot more good songs, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if they won.
I did hear the false note, but that being said, those things can happen. Our Blanche also hit quite a few false notes in the semis, and she made it through (mostly because people felt sorry for her, I think). Spain just didn't have an appealing song to me. It might end up being a summer hit though. :)
I also felt bad for Germany. The song wasn't that bad really, and the lady was very pretty. I think it was just a case of lots of similar songs, and the others having the benefit of already being heard in the semis.
Spain's song is a bad one this year. And I can't find the performance at the Grand Final anywhere! But I really pity the German song; it may not have been anything special, but it was a nice song.
A bit late to the party but here are my thoughts:
I actually thought Italy was going to be the favorite to win this year. They had a catchy song with cool lyrics and I felt like they deserved 2nd place : Portugal's win was very well deserved even though I didn't care much for the song (I'm Portuguese, actually). Moldova was my favorite because I can't get enough of Epic Sax Guy :D that song had me dancing every single time ~ Thought Israel deserved way more points than it got. Sweden had a fun song but that guy just could not sing (OR was having a bad voice day)... Overall this year so many people were singing off-key it was actually embarrassing to watch some performances.
