Oh no!! I sure hope they get it under control fast! I know you're so looking forward to your reunion and I hope to god it doesn't affect your reunion! I sure we wish we would get a freak rain storm. the pollution from no rain for 40+ days is killing me! Not to mention the danger it puts our state in for fires!

just stressing a little as the alert my parents was taken off yesterday morning just to be put back on due to a different fire. the place that the family reunion was going to be has been evacuated.

not looking good, alerted area last night changed to order and alert goes to my parents again. not looking like this fire is gonna be gotten under control anytime soon. :s

Yes! For me wigs, shoes and background are the hard parts! LOL! practically the whole HA! :-P Glad you're getting some relaxation! My day is ending up a bit hectic. My neighbor is going to go to her daughters for a few days so the daughter can help her with her sick dog. But the dog peed on her bed last night so I'm going to go get her bedding and wash it cause I have a big enough washer for her quilt. Then I'll make the bed so when she comes home it will be ready. May wait until tomorrow to make her bed as I'm doing my sheets today too.

until mother nature has pushed it far enough and begins to cooperate.

I forgot to mention how my weekend is. I am having a migraine but outside of that it's been pretty relaxing and great. I got an advance copy of a brand new book from a brand new author that I've been reading. It's not horrible but for sure copies like 3 other well known stories out there (Like harry potter, Cinderella, and Once Upon a Time all had a baby). That being said, I do enjoy it mostly. Even though I do not find the humor parts funny because it's just awkward and shes trying to hard, and it is obvious. lol

Also, i agree with you on the wig. I love The Little Mermaid and I just need to wear the wig more often.

Eee! Thank you so much for the compliment - this is one of my favorite odd-colored wigs. Normally I cant wear purple but the berry i this one just makes the entire wig perfect to me. This color berry and teal (which I am sadly not wearing right now) are my favorite colors.

At least she has help like you said. I hope all goes well for her!!

It's weird we've known her for 20 years but when we started walking her dog a few years ago we got close. Saw your tacos and I'm so jealous!! We have toms, but not ready to eat yet. Maybe in a week or 2 at most.

I tend to use all colors when making HA's as well. Although I find myself never really wearing much orange, green, purple, bright red (only more dull reds). I have been trying to force myself to wer more purple but I can never get myself to actually pull it off. :P Even in RL I am trying but I always seem to veer away, even though royal purple is so gorgeous and looks great on my skin tone.

the weekend's been OK. I made a roast, going to make mashed potatoes and combine them into shepherds pie I think

Ah! I wondered why 2 look the same! I had planned to use one of them but didn't end up there. lol That sounds yummy! I made a weird meatloaf that turned out so delicious! The recipe was to add a Stove Top Stuffing to 1.5 to 2 lbs hamburger. Too bad I can't really eat it, but did taste it. (the stuffing mix is wheat) Kidlet and hubby both really liked it! :-)

I use almost everything on HA's. In RL I'm pretty tame and wear mostly neutral colors. Although, I do have on a lavender tee today! lol

I have sort of a recipe for making stew (or a roast) in the slow cooker. I hadn't done it in several months, but last year I did it every week or two for probably nearly 3 months in a row...

Anyway the recipe is like this. Get a beef roast or a bunch of boneless skinless chicken thighs. Put in slow cooker. Pour wine over it (white wine for chicken, red wine for beef). Most of a bottle of wine... I use fairly cheap wine because it doesn't have to be super high quality ($5 - $6 a bottle at the grocery typically).

Add spices liberally. Add uncooked rice. Add a little sugar and a little lemon juice for extra flavor. Then cut up some root vegetables (any kind of potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic cloves, yams, turnips, rutabagas, parsnips... this time I had one sweet potato, one purple top turnip, one big vidalia onion, and a bunch of carrots) and drop those in.

Cook in slow cooker overnight... add quinoa the next morning if it's too liquidy, to thicken it up. That's it really...

For spices I just go through the spice cabinet and throw in whatever looks like it'd be good. Usually I have some of the no salt spice mixes and put a bunch of that, plus onion powder, garlic powder, basil, galanga, paprika, and black pepper. I think this time I also put in some of the seaweed flakes I ordered online, they're good...

So it makes a nice thick flavorful stew this way. The roast shreds up nicely and can be made into sandwiches or mixed into the stew... Chicken kind of shreds even more so it's all stew bits when I do it with chicken. Probably because I use the cheap partly reconstituted thigh meat, but it has good flavor that way. But if you got expensive organic chicken thighs or something it'd still mostly fall apart due to cooking for so long :)

That sounds good and sounds like you cook like I cook. Add whatever spices that sounds good at the moment. lol I had to Google galanga. I will look for it next time I go shopping! Adding the wine sounds interesting and I need to try that!! Right now crock pot sounds about right as it's too hot to use the oven all day, which I did today. I roasted some eggplant after I made the meatloaf. I think I'll try it with chicken as beef always taste strange to me when cooked in crockpot. Oh and I just saw seaweed flakes! I have some of the sheets for snacking. Been in cupboard a long time but to get rid of it I'll put it in the stew. :-D

Hubby always grills our roasts to brown them and then he finishes in the oven. I leave him in charge of a lot of the meat stuff as he's good at cooking it! He smoked us a whole chicken last week-end. :-) Do you do Pineterest? That's where I find most of the things I make.

I really like galanga but you don't need it. If you use chicken, turmeric would be a good replacement. Or whatever you like, maybe nutmeg, or allspice... some bay leaves... I dunno, it's all good? :D

Pink wine is fine for color with chicken too (the kind where it's a red grape but they peel it so it's light).

I'm sure some sheets would be fine, they'll just dissolve... I wonder why beef tastes weird to you in the crock pot? Crock pot is a little different than my slow cooker I think... maybe not I dunno. Anyway I like how the beef tastes :D

I love roasted eggplant! So jealous. No one in my family but me likes eggplant. So I hardly ever get it.

The meatloaf... I used to make meatloaf that way when I didn't know not to eat wheat ;) lots of breadcrumbs. I have not made it much since then but I did make it with cooked rice a few times, seemed to work OK as a substitute. So you could try that if you wanted to eat the meatloaf too.... put seasoning in the water for the rice to absorb. Same thing, random whatever you feel like, works fine ;) I'd put beef bouillon in the water too if I was making meatloaf, I think. That'd give the rice a meaty flavor! Hm now I want to try that again.

(added after edit) just read a long thread complaining about metallic/off taste in crock pots... apparently sometimes onions can do that if you don't brown or precook them. Probably the vidalia onion is less likely to, though? Anyway, try leaving onion out of the mix if you do try again with beef and see if it helps. Be sure to also try browning the beef a little if leaving out onion isn't the solution... And for that matter this kind of stew isn't everyone's favorite, my family sure likes it though...
