the cleaning never ends xd

Never DXXX I was making fig jelly from scratch last night and it took at least 3 hrs and I didn't get anything done

lol, yikes.. how wis the jelly? i don't do like the jelly texture :3

We've had some really bad luck and have made some stupid choices and decisions. We're barely surviving and if it weren't for our big dog I would sell our house and scale down. Kind of hard to rent with a rottwieler, and I would never give him away!

Awwww! That's so sweet that you said you could never harden you heart in such situations. I totally get that and I think I'm the same in many situations. So weird how cats would kill their own kittens. Guess I need to Google it and see what others say about why cats do that.

this was the first thing we actually canned this year. The pickles I made I just put in the jars cause I was lazy. Tried them yesterday too and they taste kinda funny DX

Cool! so you haven't had to cook! lol I have a question. I bought some pickling cukes yesterday. ( i just used small ones for my pickles the other day.) And I just tasted one and it's bitter af! Are pickling cukes supposed to be bitter?

Mine were not....how strange. I grew them though, they were pickling cucumbers and they just taste like cucumbers...I actually broke open a jar yesterday and they taste kinda funky :(

Anything to make life easier! I've been trying to de-clutter for years. Being broke helps with that! LOL! Trying to look at the bright side! :-P

I was so tickled to find pickling cukes and now it looks like I've wasted $4.00! UGH! May try a small batch and add a bunch of stevia to see if it helps. From googling it it seems they can become bitter from a number of reasons and one being extreme heat. The ones we grew last year, (with extreme heat) were bitter too.

I'm sorry :( I can't not lol. It bugs me more not to do it XDD Cause then I am like I have all this crap to do XD

What recipe did you use? Mine turned out too vinegary D: We had something similar happen. We got a butt load of grapes and my husband decided to pull a few out of their skin and worms were inside sooooo we aren't eating those D:

I used this one I used stevia in place of honey and added a few crushed red pepper flakes and black pepercorns. Couldn't taste the chilli flakes at all. I only added about a tab of stevia but plan to use more on next batch.

Ah maybe that was my problem it said cider vinegar on my recipe so the only cider vinegar I could find was apple. Maybe regular vinegar is the key!!
