My family used to always play video games together or solo. Sadly that isn't as true nowadays except for me. (Well at least when school isn't kicking my butt) My first memories were mainly watching as my dad or sister would play through a game and I would watch; or playing co-op as Diddy Kong or in Mario Kart: Double Dash! Sometimes I would read a walkthrough to them, but I hardly played by myself because I was too scared to go solo (I was pretty young).

One funny memory I always recall of trying to play seriously by myself for the first time is with Ocarina of Time. I basically barely made it out of Kokiri Forest and at the first deku baba that popped up I turned immediately around saying "NOPE NOPE NOPE" and stopped trying, haha! Still a Zelda fan to this day though.

One game I didn't have any problem playing by myself was the original Animal Crossing for gamecube. My two favorite villagers in my town were Tangy (i thought she was funny) and Wolfgang (because he was always up to talk when i'd play late). I still love those two, and I actually did the reset trick when I started over in New Leaf until I got Wolfgang.

Although I may still be an avid gaming fan, I'm usually pretty late at starting games when they come out (as in most people have already played) and I am lousy at finishing them. I like to ge tthe most enjoyment out of my games, but life usually interrupts me before I can finish.

Also can I just recommend and spread the word about Professor Layton games here? They're amazingly wonderful charming puzzle games for the ds and 3ds and I can't recommend them enough to anyone!

Pretty sure my first game was Zelda : a link to the past back on the day haha. To date I still absolutely love that game along with all of the others as well. Ever since RPGs have been my absolute favorite games. It helps I love reading as well lol.

First video game(s) my brothers and I played as children was on the Super Nintendo, and we got Super Mario Bros and A Link to the Past (Zelda series) so we're very much Nintendo fans now and wow, that seems like so long ago. :/ But those games, especially the Zelda series has always held a special place in my heart, and now as an adult I'm still playing them, and so happy they're still making them. And making them fun!

My first game was either the Spyro the Dragon, or Yoshi story for n64. I still love both of them to pieces, and own both of them.

Space Invaders! The doctor I went to as a child (he later sadly moved to another town ;u; ) had this huge console table in one of his exam rooms and I was allowed to play the game whenever I, my sister or mom had an appointment. It was the best thing on earth for me and made doctor appointments so stressfree and cool especially because I had to visit a doctor real often when I was young. ^^;

Och, that was quite a while ago, but I think it was Prince of Persia (Atari version) and I was... hmm 8 or 9 years old. I was visiting my cousin and he let me play the game. It was cool, but I sucked at it... XD As for my own computer, it was Tomb Raider II back in 1999 or 1998. Earlier I have been playing Tomb Raider I on my friend's computer and I liked the game so much, that I bugged my parents long enough that they bought me my own computer and Tomb Raider II.

Excluding all those educational games intended for children that I can hardly remember, my first game was The Sims and then my first proper game that ignited my interest in gaming was Half-Life.

I played The Sims before I could even read and it more or less taught me how to read. In addition to teaching me how to read I also learned how to fry graphic cards. The majority of my memories associated with the game are centered around The Sims 2, my fondest being how for an entire stormy summer I'd try to play every day only to be scared off by the constant lightning and thunder strikes in fear of being electrocuted. I still play The Sims series on occasion though hardly ever the original.

Half-Life was an eye opening experience that I absolutely fell in love with despite it being regarded as graphically outdated by the time I got around to it after years of begging. I'll never forget the 3 sections in which I managed to get myself stuck in a death loop after quicksaving with 1 health. I'm uncertain as to when I might replay the original, but just last night I purchased the fan-made remake Black Mesa off the Steam sale and I'm extremely eager to play.

My first game was probably Bubsy on the SNES. I liked it enough that I got the 2nd one for some gift giving occasion (my birthday, I think), but it might also have been Super Mario Bros 3 or Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past (both also on SNES), because we had all of those and I played them all.

Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy :) My brother and I used to fight like wolves back then, but we'd put our heads together to get through this game and later, Kirby's Dream Land 2. (Occasionally I'd figure out how to find a Rainbow Drop when he couldn't, and the look on his face would be priceless!) Quite a few Kirby-related enemies and items became in-jokes between me and my father, too.

I haven't played them in ages, but do own the Kirby's Dream Collection, which includes these and some other Kirby games. One of these days I'll revisit them :)
