My first game I played was Duck Hunt with the sweet bright ass red gun controller for the original NES system. It came on the same cartridge as the original Mario Bros. Since I was terrible at Mario I found duck hunt a lot easier. Dang dog though who constantly laughed at me.

Beware the nostalgia

Also another one of the games I remember fondly as one of my first was World Class Track Meet with the dang mat on the original NES as well. (I seem to remember things with weird accessories apparently) Used to fit 6 of us in 2 rows of 3 doing the baton pass rally race. That was the shit back in the day where you'd run in spot as fiercely as you can.

My first game ever as I recall was Super Mario World on SNES! And I still have it nowadays, although it's not the same cart since I broke the first one hahaha I also have Mario games for Nintendo DSi and even for my iPhone, but I still stick to the first one. Probably because it's the only one I haven't finished yet (yep, 15 years playing it and never managed to complete it...)

I honestly have no clue... I was raised in a gaming environment. My mom is epic. Some games that I can recall in my childhood included Boogerman, Abe's Odyssey, Ren & Stimpy, Super Mario, Mario Paint, Heroes of Might and Magic (THE FIRST ONE. The graphics are cringe-worthy...) and, of course, Poke'mon...

My first MMO was Perfect World, though, long before it went "International." Those were the good ol' days.

Tetris on the original GameBoy. But in general any system I've played has at least one version.

Old, and obsolete.

When I was a kid I remember playing Crystal Caves, Halloween Harry, Commander Keen and Sonic with my sister. My first playstation 2 game was Kingdom Hearts and other than that it was Pokemon Red and Blue.

First video game I ever played, or even just saw, was Super Mario World on the SNES. I remember very clearly being 3 at a day care-type place at the gym where my mom was working out, and they had a little set-up with two SNES consoles, and I was attracted to it immediately. Shortly after, my parents got me a Game Boy with Donkey Kong '94, that being the first game I ever owned, and both SMW and Dankey Kang are still two of my favorite games, that I go back to regularly and still have just as much fun with now as I did when I was a kid. Also, my god, the Track Meet NES game Cyroris posted - some family friends of ours had that, and every time we went to visit them when they lived in New York, I'd go to their basement and play that and just wear myself out by running in place as fast as I can to win the races, and then I'd pick the long-jump and be super cheap by running and jumping off the pad, which would make your guy go until either he fell over or you jumped back on for a perfect landing. Even as a wee lad I knew how to game the system.

I'm sorry, exactly what kind of food is "beefsteak"?

Super Mario World on the Gameboy Pocket. I played it like a million hours, always closed the game, when the endboss came, because I was too scared and stressed.

My uncles had an Intellivision system and I played a ton of those games whenever I went to their house. I'm not sure which was the first, but Buzz Bombers and Shark Shark! are the two I remember playing the most. They seem painfully boring now, but apparently they were The Best Thing to very young me.

Sorry this is going to be a bit of a large ramble since I was thinking about the first games I ever played and suddenly unlocked a bunch of old memories I had forgotten about. So the game I thought I first played probably actually wasn't the first.

My first childhood home I lived there from birth to 6 years old. At that home I remember other kids having gameboys and I heavily desired one since I was actually into pokemon and had pokemon toys, including a fake gameboy from burger king that I pretended to play so I could be like the other kids. I actually remember one of my friends from that neighborhood got a gameboy advance for their birthday and I was very envious.

It wasn't until I moved when I was 7 that video games fully came into my life. I can remember finally having my first gameboy and playing pokemon blue on it, but I'm not sure if that was the first game anymore. I had a friend in my new neighborhood who had both PC games and a gamecube which I suddenly remembered. I can't remember playing on the gamecube but I'm sure I did. I do remember the PC games a lot though, it was the PC Harry Potter 1 and 2 games, and some other weird games, like one was a guy on a skateboard on a pizza and you had to dodge the toppings or something?? I really liked that game though lmfao.

Then I got my own PC games, including the Harry Potter 1+2, and some others were a Monsters Inc pinball and some kind of Disney's Atlantis game (god I miss that). My friend also had a gameboy and pokemon games - thiis is around the time of my pokemon blue memory. Also I had pokemon gold and she had all three from that gen. We stopped being friends some time later and then I remembered the friends I had at school.

One friend I remember, I had a sleepover at her house with a bunch of other kids and I remember she played the first Jak and Daxter game on it and I thought it was the best looking game ever. Another friend I had, I think she had a gamecube and I remember playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game on it - which I wanted so much - and Kingdom Hearts, which I also wanted a lot.

It wasn't that much later I got my own console finally. It was a ps2 in 2005 when I was 10 years old. My TV was so old and crappy that there was no where to plug the PS2 in it. So I vividly remember it being connected to the living room TV and me sitting on the floor playing it. My first game on that was actually Neopets the Darkest Faerie because I was super into neopets.

Honestly I still love the Darkest Faerie despite having long abandoned the website in favor of subeta. I still have this same PS2, and I ended up getting that Jak and Daxter game, along with some mess-ups from me trying to get the same games I played at my friend's house. I didn't realize there were so many Final Fantasy games so I ended up getting completely the wrong one but I still love the one I got (X). And I somehow got Kingdom Hearts 2 instead of the first one. But now I do have both and finished both.

Now I'm 22 and I have a ton of PS2 games and I still have the PS2 because I never moved on from it, that's literally the latest console I have. Besides handheld, which I have a 2DS but yeah. I doubt anyone has read this incredible ramble but I needed to get this off my chest. I can't believe I forgot about all those games-at-friends-houses experiences in the heart of my childhood.

aside from computer games (mostly edutainment and zoo tycoon), i'm fairly certain my first video game that required hand-eye coordination was spyro: a hero's tail (xbox)

my dad had a few games i'd watch him play though--mainly lord of the rings: the two towers. i may have played that before a hero's tail but i don't think so? i remember the watcher being hard for me at some point, haha. and an earlier memory of that was my dad fighting the cave troll in balin's tomb

i also remember playing a hero's tail once, and there was a gnorc in a cave, and i could hear it, but i couldn't see it, and i was so spooked, haha. i ran around the area directly before that cave for at least an hour before shutting it off

i miss my xbox : ( duke controllers were great. i mainly play on pc and have a ps3 now, but those old xbox games felt so good with the duke, considering i've got big hands and can barely use a 360 controller, let alone a dualshock lol

zoo tycoon was awesome though. i was so pumped when i got it, i'd play it for hours and hours and experiment with making really massive ecosystems in large maps with no fences. lots of good memories with that one for sure. i had the complete collection and i really liked the dinosaurs

The very first videogame I played was a skiing game on Commodore 64. I was like 3 years old. So yes, I'm old. Anyway, didn't understand much at the time, just kept pushing buttons and falling (but I don't know why, I remember that stupid game so vividly), so we can say my first videogame was Prince of Persia on DOS.

The first one I remember playing was tetris on the SNES, though I can't remember which game it was attached to. We only got two games on the SNES when we first got it - it was something with tetris and the SNES Pitfall, which scared me at first so I didn't play for it a long time.

I used to "Co-Op" FFVII with my brother, where I would sit and watch him play for hours on end and he let me control the easy random encounters. The first game that I personally sat and played on my own was probably The New Tetris on the N64.

Honestly, I have a lot more childhood memories of FFVII than TNT. That's not to say anything bad about it (because it's a kickass game with an interesting development process) but my brother and I got stupidly into FFVII (I mean, as much as a 4-5 year old can get into a JRPG) to the point where he was going out to KB Toys and buying the figures of all his favorite characters and getting duplicate figures for me to open up and play with while I sat and watched him play. I actually started collecting the Extra Knights figures because of all my fond babby memories of hanging out with my bro.

We had a Commodore 64 with a ton of games when i was growing up and i'd been playing them for as far back as i can remember, so i'm not certain which one was the very first, but i'm going to say maybe Donkey Kong because that's the first one i have really strong memories of playing. It was amazing fun back in the day, as were most of the other C64 games, and i'd love to play them again for nostalgic reasons but they sadly wouldn't have quite the replay value for me that they used to (oh, the hours i spent every day on that computer).

Another awesome game that had a big impact on me was Forbidden Forest (and its sequel, Beyond the Forbidden Forest)...there's a wooded, winding road going up the hill to my childhood home and i've called it Forbidden Forest Road all my life. Oh man, and i'm still reminded of Frogger every time i have to cross a crazy busy street. And Centipede whenever i see a...centipede. So many memories! And gosh i'm old. X'D

First PC games (that I have coherent memories of)? Mario Teaches Typing, and Math Blaster: In Search Of Spot (gods I'm old). First game on a dedicated video-game-playing system? Pokémon Red.

I have no idea what the game was called, but some kind of side-scroller on the original Sinclair ZX Spectrum in probably 1982? Year I went into secondary school, I think. Maybe the one before or the one after. I should go searching old games and seeing if one matches my vague memories.

Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition for the Sega Mega Drive was the first game I've ever played and this was around 16-17 years ago. I always feel nostalgic when I see videos from this game, but I definitively want to buy myself a Mega Drive again with this game and with games like Aladdin, Animaniacs and Sonic 1-3 again.

Yoshi's Island on the SNES, I still have my copy to this day and basically the sole reason I game to this day. Though Resident Evil will always share a part of my heart as the first horror game to get me into the genre.
