" 'erbology! Oui, that is another of my favorite classes." Sauvage listened as Drew described sitting in his backyard and stargazing with his mother. She smiled at the thought and said, "That sounds beautiful. I would love to 'ear one of the stories some time? I only know of a few, seeing as 'ow my parents are not night owls. They rise very early and go to bed very early."

Sauvage's eyes lit up at the mention of receiving new plants and she scooted closer to Magnus. "What kinds of plants?" She asked, her eyes glittering with delight. She got distracted though, when she heard Fade say thank you and complimented her hair.

She tried to contain her smile and began playing with her hair. "Thank you," she mumbled, hoping that talking quieter would hide the accent she was sure would become more pronounced now. "Obviously, eet eez not natural. Eet took me a long time to get zee potion just right for zee color. My mom taught me 'ow." With that, she began twisting the pink waves of her hair into little braids to distract her from the warm fuzzy feeling she felt cascading over her whole body.

"Yeah," MAgnus said, "I thought I told you. Well, we'll get you there. Maybe Paul can 'elp with that." He started thinking on ways to make sure his best friend would be able to come when Fade brought his attention back. The astonishment on Magnus' face was evident. "You...mean that..." he said in awe. His friend refusing to look away. "I...I thought everyone 'ated me club meetings. Most of them seemed kinda...doomed. Actually, I'd been wondering if I chose flobberworms if I'd some how manage to 'ave them distroy Hogwarts... castle in flames--reporters present, worms on the towers pulling off the tiles and me being carted off to Azkaban for treason..." He blushed at the wild, vivid imagination he had.

"I've got a walking plant, Valeria, Moondew, dittany, wolfsbane, and Dirigible plum. I've more at 'ome but you can 'ave any of the ones I meantioned. I've got several new cuttings of all of them." Magnus smiled inwardly, it looked like the pair was making some progress

"We should write a comic... But yeah. I'm serious. That's the class we're all guna remember and talk about when were old as crap. Not the regular boring stuff." () Not that Fade wasn't constantly amazed and astonished by all the magic he had been learning since coming to Hogwarts. Still he meant what he said and hoped he was somehow conveying it. Sometimes words were hard. Feeling sort of humbled by all the real talk he found the confidence to smile . "Not just the color, I mean. But it's also on point. I would know." Instead of pink his hair turned a bit purple while he grinned. Suddenly he remembered. Looking at Drew ()he asked. "You said you have a horse? That's freakin sweet. Way jelly, just sayin."

"I--I am so glad!" He looked even more relaxed than he was now--which was saying something as he'd already looked mellow. "I thought people only came...cos you know, they felt sorry for me or something." He shrugged. Yes, he knew, he had low self esteem. "Yes!" Magnus said with glee, "Dude that'd be fun. When Flobberworms attack... it'll be brilliant." He was grinning so much it looked painful and he started drawing the first flobberworm just to start.

Well, Drew thought to himself, he was for sure finding out more and more things about his new group. He was a bit surprised to hear that Magnus ()was a garden lover. Drew smiled at the younger boy’s happiness over giving away the drawing, but lifted an eyebrow at the mention of an orphanage. He didn’t pry however since Magnus went on to talk about his dad, and the llama. “I’d love to see your llama at some point,” Drew said. “He’s sounds really cute.” At the explanation about Magnus and dogs, Drew nodded. “I didn’t think about that,” he said. “I’ve never met a werewolf before,” he said with a sheepish shrug, “so those sorts of things don’t occur to me.” He looked puzzled at Magnus’ comment about the Magical Creatures Club and workshop. “What topic did you pick that could have caused a problem?” he asked curiously.

As Fade () spoke up, Drew looked over at the other boy and then back at Magnus. “You taught how to summon a patronus?? Dang, if only my folks had let me come before now!” he half lamented.

Drew’s attention turned to Sauvage () and he smiled. “Sure, I’d be glad to tell you about the star stories anytime,” he said. “We are all night owls in my family. Makes for a fun time…until the alarm goes off for work or school in the mornings,” he grinned. Then he watched with a smile as Sauvage became flustered over the compliments from Fade. He found it a bit amusing the way the boy and girl were acting toward each other.

Coming out of his thoughts in time to hear Fade ask him a question, Drew nodded. "Yep, I have a horse. He's a mixture...sorta like me. Half Thoroughbred and half Arabian. Fast as the wind, hence his name. He was my birthday present when I turned ten."

Sauvage laughed at the conversation between Magnus () and Fade (), trying to picture all the mischief those boys could get in to. She half-smiled at Fade who seemed to regain some self-confidence. Finally, it seemed like he was becoming more comfortable around her and she felt elated at the thought. Watching his hair deepen from pink to purple a thought came to her mind and she asked aloud, "Do you ever think of names for the colors of your 'air? They are quite unique and not something that you see on any average color, um...palette." She tried to think of what she'd name the current shade of purple: blackberry? grape? plum? eggplant? And why could she only think of food?

Sauvage couldn't help but squeal in excitement at the prospect of collecting a new plant. She grabbed her knees to keep herself from lunging a hug at Magnus and said, "I have a few of the plants already, mostly for potion-making, like the Valeria, Moondew, dittany, and wolfsbane," she counted each of the plants off on her fingers, mentally picturing her many shelves decorated in greenery in her Hufflepuff dorm room. "But!" She exclaimed. "I would love a Dirigible plum. I do not 'ave one yet."

Nodding at what Drew had to say, Sauvage started visualizing staring up at the stars. How beautiful it would be. How many of them there are. There are so many! "Where would we even start wiv the stories?" She said, a bit flustered at the idea of taking on so many stories, like opening up a new book and realizing there were many more pages than one expected there to be.

(and in case you guys want in on things too 😄 )

Drew grinned at how excitable Sauvage was. He privately wondered if maybe it was a girl thing. His sister and cousin were always the same way, and they liked to squeal too. At the Hufflepuff's question, he smiled and said, "We could start with the constellations you already know. It's more fun to hear the stories if you can find the stars to go with them. After that I could show you some of the others you might not know and then tell you the stories to go along with them too."

When Drew lifted the eyebrow Magnus waved his hand. "Yeah, I grew up in an orphanage, till I was just a few days before my 9th birthday. That's when I was attacked and became a werewolf. I lived in St Mungos for a year and then was adopted." He laughed with a little bit of tension, "Werewolves, Pegasus--someone almost fell off, acromantula, boggarts..."

MAgnus nodded, "I have dittany cos of all me injuries, and the same for the Moondew--I don't make the wolfsbane potion though. 'Ogwarts gives it to us for free--its really expensive. But sure, I'll send it to your dorm after the meeting. "I 'ate astronomy," he said in a low whisper.

"Yeah, the wolfsbane potion is quite expensive. I tend to pout most of my money into ingredients for potions anyway, though so I tend not to dwell on it much." She regarded Magnus thoughtfully for a moment then asked the boy, "Why 'ave we never talked like zis before?" She smiled at him. "I would love to get togever and discuss plants sometimes. What is your favorite way to treat zee soil? What are the plants that you feel are necessities to a garden? And 'ow long 'ave you been gardening anyway?" She stopped talking abruptly, realizing a bit too late the she was interrogating the boy.

Drew was very calm and had a bit of a professorly voice. He seemed like a patient person, whereas Sauvage let questions and concerns flit around in her head like butterflies, catching one then dropping it immediately to chase after another in great haste.

Eirik had been pretty quiet, watching the conversations unfold around him. However, when Magnus began to talk about his Father, he got a pain in his stomach that did not go away.

He stood up. "Hey, Mags, I think ...I am going to leave...have fun, ok..?" There was a momentary flash of pain in his eyes, then it cleared. "I will see you later."

He grinned, "Dad's even better than I am. It started back in the orphanage, I was really good at 'elping to tend to our veggies. I was about five I think when I really started gardening. 'Ead Mistress I think wanted to channel me energy into less trouble-making." He gave her a mischievous smile. "I liked the earth in me hands. Depends on the plant really. You?"

Magnus nodded to Eirik. He understood. "Okay...Er, I 'ope you feel better."

Eirik walked out of the workshop, still hearing Magnus talk about his Father. He sighed, and sped off and outside.

Sauvage glanced at Eirik () with a concerned look and waved goodbye to him as he got up to leave. She hoped everything was okay. She looked back at Magnus () though, who seemed to understand the problem without making a fuss over it so she went ahead and continued their discussion about gardening. "Well, for starters, I am convinced that I was born in a garden." She paused for effect and the continued. "I swear! When I asked my parents about my birth they said nothing. Nothing! Only my grandmozer said this," Sauvage hunched her back like an old lady and transformed her voice to make it sound like she'd swallowed sand paper. "Zee gnomes in zee garden weel never unsee what zey saw.' And that's it. Of course, I am probably just imagining this so that I feel a little special. But it is true zat I 'ave been 'elping my mozer and grandmozer in the garden for as long as I can remember. We 'ave pictures of me at age two wiv my own little watering can, trying to 'ydrate zee plants." She took a moment to catch her breath and tried to sum up her other two responses: "My grandmozer taught me that the way in which you treat zee soil depends on what type of plant and 'ow much you think you will use the plant. And, while I do not think it a necessity, I always like to 'ave a few rose bushes in the garden. I think this is because of the garden dedicated to only roses at Beauxbatons."

He felt bad and part of him wanted to go after Eirik but he sensed it was one of those times he needed to give his friend space.

Sauvage launched into her explination of her joys with gardening and he couldn't help but be interested. "I bet your garden looks amazing. I love our gnomes so long as they don't 'urt any of the plants. They 'aven't gotten into our greenhouses though--there's wards on those. But I think garden gnomes are cute."

( - in case you feel like joining in)

Sauvage was so happy to be talking with someone like this about something she enjoyed so much. "Oui, they can be cute sometimes... The garden gnomes 'ated me when I was little, though. And I 'ated them. I would go off into zee garden wiv my little trowel and I would dig a hole big enough so that I could burrow into the garden where I would wait until my mozer or my fazer came to pull me out. As soon as they grabbed me though, I would start screaming like a mandrake root and I would not quiet until they put me back into my hole in zee ground. It got so bad that the gnomes created a complex tunnel system below our garden so zat no matter where I chose to bury myself, one of those little devils would be on me in no time - biting my toes or pulling my 'air. It did not take long before I stopped my mandrake business altogezer."

The boy laughed. "Part mandrake, part gnome--it sounds. That's awesome. You'd love it at me 'ouse. There's over 2000 plants inside. The front garden has a pond you can swim in, benches, lots of flowers...the chickens wander around near the apple tree. In the back theres a quidditch pitch, the 3 greenhouses and a large wooded area. Its pretty massive grounds."

Sauvage felt her jaw drop open. Two thousand plants? Three greenhouses? And a quidditch pitch? "That sounds amazing, Magnus. I am not sure I could live in such a large place, but it really does sound beautiful. And I am so jealous of all zose plants in the greenhouses that you 'ave." Sauvage thought back to her grandmother's humble but cozy cottage with a single garden, some fruit trees, and few animals (the chickens, Henry the goat, and Claire, her family's horse). "We don't 'ave anthing fancy like that at my 'ouse." She scoffed, recalling the place that she actually lived in with her parents: a three bedroom apartment in London without a yard, without a garden, without so much as a balcony. The apartment wasn't bad, it was really quite nice, but...she missed the countryside where her grandmother lived in Montpellier. Her fingers itched, suddenly feeling the urge to bury them deep in soil, to feel the earth encompass her elbows. She sighed wistfully at the thought.

Magnus laughed, "Dad loves plants. I don't know 'ow 'e waters them all. I get lost in the manor, actually. Sometimes I kinda wish it was smaller but it is lovely. Reminds me of the Secret Garden--ever read the book or seen the movie? But in the orphanage we only 'ave the veggies and fruit trees."
