Not bad ! Good luck with the event... I am not sure I'll be taking advantage of this one.... can't wait to return to Spain to play actively again.
So I'm checking the Trident on SLodge, and I noticed something odd in the blessing (odd for me maybe), which raises two questions... Trident of the Banished One - Blessing Earthen Barrier (low): blocks all earth, magma and water, 100% freeze and steal protection, 10 heal, 3 rounds. Blessed Trident of the Banished One - Blessing: Meranas Mantle; Blocks 175 Earth, 175 Magma, 175 Water, heals 10hp; lasts 3 rounds
1 - I always thought 100 icon block on a single weapon meant full protection; this is the first time I see (from what I've seen so far) a block of over 100 icons that isn't described as "blocks all". Does this mean that a damage could well go over 100 icons?
2 - Is the regular trident best to use when not having another weapon (or scroll) that offers 100% steal & freeze protection?
100 block does not always mean full protection anymore. There are opponents that can do 100+ damage of one icon type.
the blessing and curse on the trident and blessed trident scale in activation as your pet goes up in tier. You are less likely to see the blessing/curse when you are below T10. Even at T11 and T12 I have seen the blessing and curse activate more than at T10. The curse I have seen maybe a few times for my T8 but I think I have only seen the blessing activate once or twice for him. I would not rely on it for it's blessing to block magma, water and earth. Think of it more as a perk. I also found it slightly underwhelming before it reaches its best stats.
The short answer to your question is no I would not choose the trident over another weapon based on the blessing. I would chose the trident for the damage, heal and block. If you have other weapons with a %heal and better block then definitely use those.
Oooh yes blessed trident >>> trident. Blessed trident hits harder and blocks more wind once you hit T10 and I believe you are already T11? You definitely don't want to revert back. The way I have it modded, it's one of my hardest hitting weapons at T12.
- Blessed Trident is in my default for all my pets over T8, it's a staple. And the 175 icon block is pretty powerful as well (usually the opponents who are doing more than 100 icons of one type are doing more than 100 of pretty much everything ie. the insta-death weapons) Meranas Mantle still shuts down a couple of opponents, like RB and Sand Dragon who both deal lots of earth and water. Also not sure if anyone has actually tested the plain old trident in a while, it may well have been change to 175 as well, Subetalodge info is not always accurate, especially when it comes to weapons.
Thank you for your input! It's been my default weapon for Tziety as well, but I'm just starting to really learn about the BC :P I know SLodge may not always be accurate, but at least it gives me a fair idea of what to expect, or what to look for (though I wish a pro battler would be within SLodge staff to keep that data updated :P)
if your defense is low enough, even a 100 block can be easily overpowered. remember that it doesn't work like your opponent does 100 icons, you defend 100 icons, resulting in 0 net icons (it took me a long time to learn that haha) there's actual math involved which isn't as intuitive. so if you have like 10 defense and block 100 icons, but your opponent has 1000 strength and does 100 icons, you'll take quite a bit of damage
ugh frustrated a dragonite spawned but there's like 20 minutes left and it's over a half hour away :c not a good one again, but still candy
yeah they give the formulas in the in-depth guide if you really want to get into the math
good! :) I'm not, not getting exp is no fun
I'm not sure if I want to get into the math , but I will try to remember to check it out, see if I can fill some of the blanks in my learning curve haha.
How come you aren't getting exp? That sounds sad.
Also shame on that dragonite to spawn so far away.... that's why I try to not use maps, because I'll get frustrated to find something good too far away :P I do check sometimes The Silph Road to see what current nests are confirmed and where they are, though :P
it's not too important, as long as you vaguely understand what goes on you should be just fine
I recently capped so I haven't fought any challengers yet except panzers I think. capped pets don't get exp and I'm just not used to it yet x)
if they have hour spawns I can get there so it's always worth checking, or if I'm in town more I can get there too. I'm just glad it wasn't a 90%+ one
I sorta train my other pets but I don't care so much about them. maybe eventually I'll get around to it, but right now I just don't care
check twitter, maybe your city has a scanner going.
I remember it as your weapon shows what you will block and your defense combined with the weapon determines how effective is your block. Similar concept with strength and attack. Your strength combined with the icons your weapon deals determines how effective is your attack. Damage dealt and damage taken then depends on how effective is your opponent's block and attack.
The math isn't too bad. The advanced battle coliseum guide does a good job breaking the numbers down.
You have defeated Raging Storm Sylph 5 times!
Raging Storm Sylph drops:
Storm Swept Hair
Nimbus Twins
Unstable Tornado Cake
You earned 16403 sP for beating Raging Storm Sylph!
KingxTerask earned 4134 EXP Points!
Thank you [Kiss=smilesnz] [Dance=smilesnz] [Flower=smilesnz]
yeah that helps a lot knowing where stuff spawns, but you just gotta luck out for the rare ones. just did a lucky egg and got 158k exp from it :) ugh another dragonite in an area I can't really get to :x
I usually think of it as if your def is about the same as their attack, you block their icons one for one. but usually it's not that important and I don't think about it really. as long as you have a decent amount of defense, more blocking = better
