I am fuming right now. Not on my behalf, but for my boss. She is one of the nicest people in the whole world. This 'friend' of a resident (I work at an assisted living senior home) came into her office, which is right by my desk (the reception, 'front desk'), and started yelling about how he's a bigwig in the tech business and he's head of some internet company and he knows everything about everything computers. Real big-headed asshole, kind of reminded me of Trump actually. And my boss is just being quiet and sweet like always and says 'I don't like your threatening tone sir', which by her tone of voice has me half way out of my chair to go in there. The maintenance manager went in though and basically kicked him out of the building.
This man, I swear to fuck. He was all 'You promised x download speed and we only got y download speed at this time and z download speed at this other time and why the fuck can't we get x download speed all the time and total bullshit long winded fake-as-fuck techy explanation as to why he should always get x download speed' And meanwhile, I'm sitting here, eye twitching, thinking to myself 'You can't get x download speed all the time because sometimes there are more people online, more things being downloaded, which makes everyone's speed go down, you fucking twat. It doesn't take a goddamn tech genius to know that.' Not to mention the fact that this is a SENIOR LIVING HOME where 90% of our residents don't know a computer from a tv.
It really pisses me off twofold here: One, someone trying to talk down to someone else because they are a quiet, nice person. And two, someone acting like they are a fucking genius when they're completely not.
God. I really wanted to punch this man. Let my boss know it too and she thanked me and laughed.
Dealing with rude customers at work is one of the worst things that a lot people are subjected to every day. Sorry you had to deal with that, and your boss, too! It's the worst when that happens. It boggles the mind how some people don't seem to grasp simple concepts.
Staying on the work train, I'll say that one of the things that makes me angriest about my job is the frequency of questions I get about "gendered" products. I work in the kids department of a large bookstore, but we also carry clothes, toys, baby gifts, etc.
Almost every day I'll have someone come in and say "I need a gift for a little boy!" and I'll recommend a book that happens to have a female protagonist, and the customer acts like I'm offering them a literal pile of crap. xD They wrinkle their nose and are like "I SAID FOR A BOY," and it makes me want to gouge my own eyes out. Not just with books, but with everything we carry in the store.
Just last week a woman acted like she was having a midlife crisis over a blue baby bonnet because she was afraid of what other people would think if she made a baby boy wear it. She said "I know it's blue, but look at this bow on it!!" It was literally the bow they had tied on the display, where you would normally tie it under their chin to keep it on. I said, "Ma'm, you can re-tie that any way you like." "I guess..."
=_=
edit: I have to add customers who insist on "pure" kids literature. I had another woman come to me and say "I want something wholesome for my daughter, nothing similar to Harry Potter please." What?!?
People who are voting for Trump and should definitely know better. Anyone who's been paying attention to this election and the things he's said should see that he's definitely unfit for office. One of the things he's been railing about is how he doesn't like gay people. I've heard him say multiple times, horrible things about lgbtq+ people. The kicker to this? This couple that has been friends of the family since before I was born, who have a gay son and son-in-law, are fucking voting for Trump. I feel like I've lost a friend. Multiple friends. Because I just can't trust or think well of anyone who's voting for him.
Also, people who are voting for a third-party candidate because they don't like Trump or Hillary. Listen, I'm not a big fan of Hillary, but the thing is, this is bigger than who you like or don't like. We have to put aside our differences and vote for the one person who can beat this narcisisstic, homophobic, misogynistic, disgusting excuse for a human being. We can't let someone like that be in such a position of power. I really believe the world will literally end, not even joking, if Trump becomes president. So voting for a third-party candidate, someone who doesn't realistically have a chance to beat this asshole, doesn't make any sense at all to me.
I'm from the UK and, from where I'm standing, definitely sympathise in regards to your feelings towards Trump and the realisation of losing friends due to this election. I felt the same way when Britain voted to leave the EU. I saw such bigoted, hateful and ignorant sides to people I had previously admired. It's such a shame. I'm sorry about your troubles.
I heard the "best" thing about Trump last night: he plans on suing all the women who came out about his sexual abuses. Despite that and everything else he's done, the stupid Trump campaign signs keep popping up around my town and I just want to go and take every single one out of lawns and burn the lot of them.

The notion of so many supposedly intelligent people voting for Trump makes me seriously question their intelligence, you know?

Please remember to stay on topic and voice your opinions respectfully.

Ugh, rude customers are the worst. :/ I work retail and even though I haven't had to deal with too many really over-the-top rude customers (like the kind that throw things, scream, etc.) I'm always dealing with people who lack manners. They'll interrupt me as I'm helping another customer, they toss frozen/cold items onto shelves where they sit until they have to be thrown out, they'll toss items all over the place, etc. It's the little things you know? They just add up until I'm annoyed all the time. I know I shouldn't let it get to me but it just does. At least I'm mostly just stocking shelves (although there's annoying stuff with that too) so cleaning up the store isn't part of my job anymore. I still have to help customers, though.
I've started dropping hints honestly, lol. The other day I was annoyed with customers and coworkers and when a guy came up to me and said simply, "Meat thermometers," I said, "Yes?" He replied, "Meat. Thermometers," to which I said, "Yes?" Finally he said, "Where are they?" and I put on a cheerful voice and said, "They're just over here!" :) I led him right to them and he thanked me. I'm just tired of being treated like Google. It takes a couple seconds more to say, "Excuse me, where are your meat thermometers?" or something like that. It's just polite. It's a small thing but it really starts to get on your nerves when people walk up to you and just say, "Item."
I've had a few customers lately who crooked their finger at me like I was an animal and it drove me up the wall. :/
Baaaah there's just so many annoying things in retail. :p
Oh. My. God. I HATE the Google customers. This one time a lady came up and just stared at me for a minute and then yelled, "Towel racks!" So I took her to the towel racks and she started complaining about how we didn't have the right one and we never had before. (so why do you keep coming back lady lmao) I was explaining all of our towel racks to her, and suddenly she just interrupts with, and I quote, "Those wall-mounted bottle openers so you stick your drink in and it goes KSSHH" mimes opening a drink. I was so confused I just asked her what she meant and she just kept going "KSSHH!" It was… surreal.
Oh my god that's so weird lmao! People are honestly so ridiculous.
Now I'm remembering this person I had in ages ago that asked me (politely) where measuring cups were so I took her to where the measuring cups (the sets that only go up to a full cup) and she said, "Those aren't measuring cups. I said MEASURING CUPS! Where are the measuring cups?" I swear I questioned my whole life in the few seconds it took for me to respond to her because those were definitely measuring cups. Finally I realized she wanted the large measuring cups that are made of glass or clear plastic so I took her to them but not without a pointed comment of, "Oh the other kind of measuring cup. Okay." I mean really... they're both measuring cups so she could've just said she wanted the other kind instead of losing her mind lol.
That's so creepy. People will turn in an instant if you don't give them what they want. :( Customers who don't describe a thing correctly and get angry at you for it are the worst.
Ugh yeah I hate those people so much. :( Either people aren't specific enough or they'll very clearly ask for one thing but mean something entirely different and yell at you for leading them to the item they asked for. I guess it's somewhat entertaining at least... I always love sharing stories of terrible customers and laughing about them later. It would be nice to be able to let those people know that they're the laughing stock of the staff. XD
I hate it when people read over my shoulder and getting into my personal space.

hate is a strong word there are very few things in this world i can honestly say I hate for example people who hurt animals, children or the elderly would be in that category
On the topic of work... I work for a large insurance company in the US in the towing department. Our location is the only location for the entire country, so we have to figure out where people are quite often without being familiar with the area. This makes people so unbelievably angry.
Also, people are so impatient. We have specific contracts with tow companies all across America, with specific requirements. One such requirement is that our tow companies are contracted to arrive within 60 minutes, which I understand is a decent amount of time to wait, especially if it's bad weather or late at night or something along those lines, and our companies try to work with us... but they have a specific contracted time and people just don't get that there is nothing I can do to change it.
And lastly, one if my biggest pet peeves is when someone says "you people". That grates my nerves so bad.
Some person called the Chinchilla a Chihuahua. I mean, I know it's not a big deal... besides, there's a sign ontop of Sage's cage that says "Hi. My name is Sage. I am a Chinchilla". But I guess people cant flippin read.
I hate stupid people, that encompasses pretty much anybody at most times, who ask me questions. And then, my favorite is when they say.... 'really, how do you know all this stuff'. Ummm, I read, expand my knowledge base on area I find interesting. How do you find out new things you are interested in.... (inside voice, oh ya, you just ask me and question my answers) Stupid people.
What pisses of the SaggiTaurus? Being treated as if I were stupid, being interrupted when I'm speaking, not being treated like a person, having to cater to the masses of lazy, ungrateful Kris that grace or society because I'm beholden to the green, papery god we all are.
I just want to go live with the trees, man. Did you know plants can learn?
