The anniversary should be the most important of the holidays, and not just the tenth, because it's the Genesis, it's where it all began. It's really under-appreciated for what it actually is, and for the potential it has

You don't need goodie bags or freebies to make the anniversary interesting - adding boons that encourage being there during the anniversary (extra quests, restocking discount, higher chances of SBQ events/coins/wizard tokens via RE, small free gifts)

There are random moments where old retired items are brought back into quests - that should be saved for anniversary week.

It's like saying your birthday is not that important to people around you while Halloween and Christmannukah exist.

Also, Alegarten... I think we have every possible combo of booze and sausages item now. Booze could go with Keelhauliday (WE GOT ZERO BABETTE ITEMS, NOW), sausages with Fireside. I really have a hard time getting excited for it because everything it does, I feel Fireside and Keelhauliday do it better, themewise.

I guess it's just because I don't really put a lot of important once on birthdays in general!

We've got a few small plans for Alegarten because believe me, we're burnt out on sausages too.

Idea's:

  • Babysit Babette her babies for an "hour" by playing a game like petpet sitter on neopets.

  • Help out in the kitchen Rathskeller Inn by creating awful food with one of those games where you fetch the ingredients and bring them to the cook in time games. ^ for both of those hourly/two hourly and give a random item.

  • Random chance to get a bucket of water from Dirty Matty and with that bucket you can wake up Carl. Either be attacked or be thanked because he had a nightmare => chance on an item. Double random thing but if you have games that guarantee an item then it's ok to have some random :D

More lore for Keel Hauliday would be great! Especially with Babette's twins on board, who could provide everything from "book/toy donation drive" to "went missing" :D And if not for Freyalise Items (and it makes sense to not give them out so easily), then I'd bet lots of users would gladly participate in anything pirate-y and/or for a forum title and/or bc of a boss battle XD And another scavenger hunt sounds awesome, too! (I happily admit I'm heavily lore addicted :3)

Besides, I know the Bad Omen Plot's prices aren't released yet and Keel Hauilday is still going on, but now I'm getting excited about Alegarden! 😆

Whatever you do, could you put in some way to get specific items? Even if it's just the Hustler "borrowing" particular items from the pirates, or a shop where you can buy one item out of 5-10 available for that day or being able to pick between a minion, a wearable, a plushie, etc. as a prize from a game. I don't like having to rely on random sources that just end up filling my inventory when all I want is a particular common minion or something(and yes, I could buy from another user, but I may as well not participate in the holiday at all then, and that's not fun).

(Also, I don't mind more booze for Alegarten, could always use more items for Cactus Cat's TC. :P)

Edit: Oh, how about a trading game, along with bringing the Islanders in? Like, an Islander NPC might give you plushies in exchange for wearables, and you would get a random item of same/similar rarity as what you traded or something. And each different NPC could be seeking different categories of items and give different items in exchange.

Really digging 's diving for treasure suggest. o.O That's real neato.

Dirty Matty's pockets are where I ran out of "or maybe"s XD Truth be told I'm not sure I'd be willing to dig through his pockets.

Did you see my suggestions near the top of page 2? Could they be of any help/use maybe? They wouldn't flood the system and they'd not only offer opportunites for items but lore too! 'Cause who doesn't love pirate lore right? [sub][sub]On a side note, I forgot pinging staff was an actual do-able thing otherwise I would have done it sooner. Ahahah[/sub][/sub]

I've skimmed over a lot of suggestions because I've been busy with plot stuff! I will be going back and reading everything / discussing with staff suggestions for how to improve next year though. :)

What's this talk about changing my alltime favourite holiday, Alegarten? :( That makes me nervous, I don't want it to disappear or merge into another holiday. I've been excited for it since last week. :x Just because you aren't excited for it doesn't mean no one else is. 😭

If this was suggested already sorry...

What if Carl got hold of loot like he always does but shares it with other quest givers? Give Alexander the books, clothing to certain quest people, minions to Cinthia, Food to Pete and well Carl can have a little of everything. If you're worried items are becoming too much in stock on site lower the chance of getting them per quest. Everyone has a chance, they can quest more and if you hate RSing you can have a smaller chance of getting what you need otherwise.

Gonna second the suggestion Virus gave. Gives everyone a little more to do and a better chance of getting what they want. ^^

Keelhauliday started as a silly little thing that got added because everyone here was having fun talking like pirates on TLAPD. I think it should still stay a small and cute little holiday and not go all elaborate.

  1. We have a pretty gruelling holiday season from now until April 2 Imperialistic pirates are not sensitive to our native Islander culture. Us Omeni may regrettably no longer be in thrall to my dark Mistress, but there are still many native holiday traditions of our own that deserve priority.

If Phoenix and the Subeta Council feel in their generosity to Keith's subjects the need to expand holidays but not honor the Omeni, then the Anniversary and the Alegarten should get the time and funding.

My suggestion would be to find a nice balance for Anniversary, Keelhauliday, Alegarden and Morostide to bring love and interest on all these holidays. The holidays of the beginning of the year (and Luminaire) are nicely paced generally and interesting enough, but Anniversary, Keelhauliday, Alegarden have little to do, but could be so much more...

I miss the old Anniversary with a small batch of themed items that could be found, maybe make a complete month that questers gives Anniversary items as rewards, or well in a certain ratio and certain quantity of items so we could still be able to collect them all.

I adore Kheelhauliday items, but what is it beside rSing in the Freyalise. Maybe think about a currency and activities to do with Pirates so you can buy items with that currency. Or maybe close some of the Port Plunder activities while the Freyalise isn't there. Like why Can we drink with Matty while the Freyalise is away... isn't he suppose to be on the Freyalise? Also, he need new items each year! Make activities with ALL the Freyalise staff too, or well let us interact with all of them where are Rita and Jacques? Add few rats or things to the Galley yearly and close it when the Freyalise leave. This year would have been fun to add the cats there instead of in the Freyalise shop... you know... too many rats there and this year cats come to the rescue... missed a good opportunity I think... Even add crew if needed for more activities

Alegarden, well I don't like booze and all so I dunno. This holiday have never been much no... but it need to be more! I might be bias there, but to me it over in a day or two.

Morostide, I love Morostide, don't get me wrong tough, I just think that if you can't give more to the other holidays because of Morostide, then maybe Morostide could get a bit less love. I feel so ruched during Morostide to get all the items (love all the items so) but so it's not that easy when you can only be few hours a day on Subeta because of work. So yeah less items and more way to get them.

I don't think year-round stock or permastock is a good idea since it takes away the limited-edition-ness of this holiday, and new currency is just a gimmick, but I agree it needs a change. Right now Keelhauliday is a holiday that rewards people for tolerating excessive amounts of boredom and generating unnecessary site traffic...okay...if that is what you really want, Subeta.

IMO a totally different mechanic should be used for Keelhauliday, maybe a combination of some of the ideas in this thread. How about a limited number of rotating stock slots like fish-guy from Shengui Guo, but have each slot on a short (<1hr) timer that differs for each item depending on rarity, and in addition to that, forcing the user to haggle with the pirates to buy the item before its timer runs out. It would also be fun to add other complications to the process, like a chance of the pirates getting tired of your haggling shenanigans and instead demanding you perform a random task like solving a puzzle, besting them in battle, doing a math story-problem for them, etc. Something more than F5...F5...F5...ad nauseam. Also a big YES to more lore.

Many holidays/site events can essentially be boiled down to "let's all do a boring and repetitive task for hours so we can amass enough currency to buy a thing!" That...sounds pretty depressing when you put it like that. Like a job working at McDonalds, but without the tangible reward of actual money you can use to buy real pirate outfits with. I know it's the status quo, but if there were any alternatives that were more fun and less lag-inducing, I'd be lovin' it. Events like dancing, flowers, and trick-or-treat are nice to engage the community in theory, but in practice it doesn't really engage much past "dance with the person above you." Post "claim", press button, wait, repeat. People always find the path of least resistance and farm for stuff, so I think the key is to make that farming more fun and intentional and less of an exploit of existing game mechanics. The Bad Omen event was a good example of getting people together in a way that isn't boring. Puzzles, battles, a few repetitive games but they still require concentration and aren't pure drudgery (plus you supported your team!,) and an overarching and entertaining plot to tie it all together. I like Mysterious Melody and Luminaire presents too. I like to send random cute gifts to strangers or fulfill their themed requests. It's more engaging since I have to think about what to give them rather than giving the crappiest piece of junk on the top of my inventory like a jerk.

Sorry tl;dr.

I'm a terrible RSer but I still agree that this is a bad idea. Everything seems to devalue so quickly it's nice to have some items that are worth something.

There are other ways to get the items, Carl quests and vending.

If you're like me and terrible at RSing there then you have to make your money else where are buy off the people who have the skills, sadly them the breaks.
